We stayed here one night. The doorms are basic and kitchen is well equipped. Bathroom is average and clean. They do have a restaurant at the hostel. The special is a crafted beer which is really nice. There´s a italian restaurant in 5 min. walking distance. If you want to go to addo early in the morning than this is...

This has been my favorite backpackers yet. The Orange Elephant has such great energy. Everyone working here is friendly and great to chat with. The double rooms are spacious and very clean. There is a wonderful pub on the premises and a great market within easy walking distance. I would recommend booking the Addo tour through the backpackers for several...

I kind of found this place by accident. There aren't a lot of places with decent listings in this area. I used a booklet called Coast to Coast, which is a backpacker's guide to southern Africa. The staff was excellent and the facilities completely acceptable. The wifi at the pub next door was excellent and, as advertised, the pizza was...

Orange Elephant was recommended to us by another friend and we were not disappointed. There were 4 of us and they ended up putting us in one of the volunteer rooms so we wouldn't be stuck in a dorm - it was awesome! Staff was fantastic and the new puppy was pretty adorable to play with :) Kitchen was generally...

We didn't stay here, only stopped in for the evening of drinks with some friends. The weather was awful and the power went out for most of the night, but we stuck it out until things picked up again. We were a big group and we created our own atmosphere, otherwise it would be been very quiet. If you're looking...

Our family group of 10 were accommodated in private rooms and a dorm. John and staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. John's recommendation for a restaurant 600m down the road was spot on! (excellent menu and food). Unfortunately we didn't get to eat the pizza's everyone raves about - next time! Breakfast provided was a bonus, however a little more...

The backpacker is very close to Addo Elephant National Park (only 8 km) but there are many other activities that can be done like visiting the Cheetah Sanctuary or ziplining. John, the owner, and his family are such awesome people! They have many different interests and they're more than willing to hare their knowledge. It's more than obvious that they...

I visited the area in December last year, the owner John is a Legend- he is such an interesting person to hang out with. His passion for wildlife is notable and something about having him there in the park just makes the conservation efforts feel a whole lot more taken care of :) His daughter and son run the backpackers...

Went on a guided tour with Reinet very knowledgeable and knew the park which made for better spotting of animals, saw Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Warthog and numerous bird species with the odd tortoise. Very fun Day. The reason for not giving excellent is shower and bathroom needs updating a little.

We were driving to Addo Elephant Park and saw the charming sign. We decided to stop and check it out. It was a very relaxed environment with friendly folks. We stayed in a multi-bed room but had it to ourselves. The bathrooms are outside but our room had a shower in it. The room was beautifully decorated with memorabilia from...
