After picking up my wife from Bristol Airport, we drove over the Severn and the Wye to arrive at Tintern Abbey, the car park still covered in frost from the previous evening. A warm welcome, then into a very warm room. It was be another cold night, we were however sitting in front of the log fire, beer and wine... More

We had a meeting here the hotel is right opposite Tintern abbey, therefore the view over the abbey and the river was amazing. The venue itself was good with nice rooms and good facilities making it comfortable. The service and food were really good and I enjoyed the variety. Overall a nice venue with good service good food in a... More

Lovely relaxing break stunning area hotel is very quaint and smelt of a log fire .Large rooms were separate to hotel which isn't a problem as still easy access to them .Lovely breakfast plenty of choice .Definitely recommend.

My friend and I were so *done* with Bibury in the Cotswolds. Don't go there for a nice, relaxing time! Instead, we left and figured we'd just find a place to stay along the way on our trip. We ended up in Tintern and got a room at the Royal George Hotel. First, the rooms are a bit dated -... More

The Staff here were amazing. Everyone smiled and talked to us. Yes, the rooms were dated but they were very clean and comfortable and the radiator on even though it was not cold. The toiletries and teas were replenished every day and the teas were top quality, plus drinking chocolate and nice biscuits. Bed very comfortable. We were not disturbed... More

I stayed here with a group of fellow amateur photographers in late October 2016. First and foremost I have to commend the very friendly, cheerful and helpful staff. It is a very welcoming and hospitable hotel. They clearly run a tight ship. The hotel's Wye Valley location is lovely and peaceful. The hotel itself is somewhat dated in terms of... More

The hotel is very pleasant the room was a garden room which I didn't like so much as people were going by after we had gone to bed and they don't realize how loud they speak, however the one thing I was disappointed with was the shower is over the bath and I was told all the rooms are the... More

The friendliest service we've ever found. We stayed at The Royal George Hotel recently. We had a good old fashioned welcome which included a nice chat about our journey, the area, our following-on holiday etc. - something which you don't get nowadays. The main hotel building (comprising bar / reception / restaurant / function room) is a beautifully kept grade... More

Oldey Woldey ... very friendly . Staff great but did feel like we had walked through a time travelling porthole .. quick drink only .. only one other person in the bar so extremely quiet .. offered garden rooms to stay but these looked like old fashioned Holiday chalets ...

The staff at the Royal George were welcoming, extremely helpful and obliging. Located in a beautiful rural setting with lovely views from our first floor room in the annex. Good meals and good service - would definitely stay at the Royal George again when visiting the Wye Valley.
