Have always wanted to see this quaint little place, so had a day trip driving around the north coastline. Pennan is a quaint, breathtakingly scenic, wild and yet tranquil little hideaway, tucked under the north sea cliffs. We had an amazing seafood lunch at this hotel - good old fish and chips and an amazing monkfish stir fry. The hotel... More

This hotel is located right on the sea front, parking on street, free and easy as it's not a busy road, there is no shops but the scenery and people make up for it, it has a claim to fame, the owners are a very lovely couple who employ a very classy waiter. The food was first class and also... More

We were there for one day in July and everything was excellent especially the staff of particular mention is the bar manager - cant wait to go back. really enjoyed the Local Hero connection and the banter about the history of the area.

Just spent a fantastic long weekend at the Pennan Inn - great location to explore the coast and take in some great coastal walks. Hotel has a superb restaurant - langoustines and monk fish were first class and not had better anywhere. The morning breakfasts were equally impressive with a perfect Scottish Breakfast. Very comfortable clean room with a newly... More

This has a dramatic site with oceanfront position. As this is an old building the windows are deep set and we only had glimpses of the ocean. However you only need to step outside to appreciate the drama of the area! The howling gale, the pounding waves breaking on the shorefront (at high tide), this is the ocean at its... More

We had a very pleasant evening in The Pennan Inn. We had pre-dinner drinks in the bar where we enjoyed the Local Hero memorabilia, before moving through to the dining room. The food was very good and they seem to always offer at least one vegan option as a matter of course. In fact we enjoyed the experience so much... More

The Pennan Inn is not new to my wife and myself as we have been here on a few other occasions with the last visit being over 15 Years ago, long before the current owners took over. I am happy to say that it has been renovated but not lost any of its character. The room we had used to... More

Stayed for one night on our way to the Orkneys. Lovely room overlooking the phone box with great views of the harbour and coastline. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent with a good choice of food. All in all a wonderful place and a must if you're a fan of Local Hero.

Visited today just as lunch time was finishing 2pm (finishes 2:30pm). The new assistant manager made us feel at home. The welcome, service and quality of food was exceptional and a pure delight. Great place to visit -views fantastic too. If anyone ever makes a Local Hero 2-maybe the new local barman /manager can feature!
