Keyonna Beach hotel garners praise for its serene setting and friendly staff, with the idyllic beachfront location being a highlight for many guests. The rooms offer rustic charm and private beach access, although a few guests suggest updates are needed. While opinions on value and cleanliness vary, most find the tranquil atmosphere and amenities like plunge pools and Bali beds to be worth the visit. However, the hotel's seclusion may not appeal to those seeking a bustling atmosphere.

We recently spent a quiet getaway at this secluded, couples-only (basically) resort in Antigua. If you’re looking for tranquility and a peaceful environment, this place delivers – most guests kept to themselves, and we had the perfect spot for a serene escape in cottage 48. Our room was well away from the main road, offering privacy and minimal noise (some construction during the day). However, despite this area being newer, the decor and amenities felt quite dated, which was a bit disappointing.

The beach itself was the highlight, with clean sands and clear waters even with some natural erosion from past hurricanes. It was the best part of our stay and made for a perfect place to relax and unwind. While beach staff like Tevin were attentive and wonderful, providing prompt service, the overall experience was hit-or-miss. The dining service in particular lacked consistency; some staff seemed less enthusiastic, and we often felt like they were simply going through the motions. There were certainly standouts (Ruel), but service quality varied noticeably depending on the time and staff.

As for the food, it was okay but didn’t stand out. We weren’t expecting a five-star culinary experience, so this wasn’t a major drawback for us, but foodies may find it underwhelming.

The biggest letdown was the state of the facilities. The resort feels like it’s in need of renovations to keep up with its image of luxury. Some beach beds were broken, and even small things, like the phone in our room, didn’t work, which meant we couldn’t easily request fresh towels (inconsistent service with these… on our last morning we only got new pool towels at 11 am).

All in all, we had a relaxing stay and truly enjoyed Antigua’s beautiful beaches, but we hope the resort addresses these issues soon. With some updates, it has the potential to be a stunning luxury destination.

I tend to rate my stays based off expectations. Keyonna Beach far surpassed these. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Dovaughn was wonderful and tended to our every need on the beach. Hensley was a great chef and prepared our floating canapé. The rooms are rustic, comfortable, and well cooled. Insect netting was available on the beds. The personal plunge pool was great to cool off and take a break from the beach. We enjoyed the privacy of how the property and individual rooms were set up. Depending on the season, the insects can be annoying, but that can be expected at any tropical location. The resort provides bug spray in your room if you need to use it. The tables have fly-away devices to keep flies from your food. All of our meals were excellent.

I would recommend getting a canapé for lunch at least once and the VIP rooms are closer to the restaurant and offer both a view and privacy.

It has taken me a long time to write this review, mainly because I wanted to keep this extraordinary resort to myself!
This is an intimate all-inclusive on the most beautiful beach in Antigua. Everything about Keyonna was wonderful!
If you like a large buzzy resort with an all-night disco, you will be very bored at Keyonna, but if you like relaxation and quiet - it is the perfect place.
The resort consists of small individual cottages, clean and well-appointed. Loved the outdoor shower! We stayed in a garden pool cottage and it was perfect. We had a great view of the beach from our private pool when we needed relief from the hot beach in August. Each room has an assigned Bali bed - no fighting for chairs or running out at 5 am to put your towel on a chair to claim it. I didnt realize what a relief it was to have an assigned bed until we returned to a larger resort and had to engage in the perpetual struggle for a lounger. The food was fine, nothing to write home about, but satisfying.
The staff were just terrific! As we got to know the staff, we developed a fondness for specific staff and asked for the same staff every night at dinner. The barkeep was fabulous - my husband taught him how to make a vieux carre, so every night at dinner he made one as he saw us being seated. They were all a little different, which made it fun. Overall a wonderful experience!

Can't recommend based on cleanliness, proper upkeep of hotel and price. Frankly, we felt quite taken by all the positive reviews and wouldn’t have paid nearly as much for this level hotel. We’ve never stayed at an AI and not sure we would again.

Upon arrival the dark wood gates and lush greenery seem to hold a hidden gem, but once inside it's evident from the cement patches on the walkways and general lack of maintenance this place is well passed its prime. As my husband said the wood and furniture looked like it was made in a 9th grade shop class. It may have been built by the locals, which is wonderful but it needs tlc.

The majority of the staff are very friendly. There’s live music most nights and a few seating areas from brighter light to darker depending on your mood. There’s various steps around the property so not sure it’s suitable for those with mobility issues. The food is sub par, I’ll leave that there. Too many flies everywhere even with twice a day fogging. The roaming cats in the dining area from breakfast to dinner need to go. People were feeding them and allowing them to jump on the dinner tables. We knew we were in the wrong hotel.

The location is on a decent sized stretch of beach, but note there are large rocks near the surf. They offered goggles, fins and snorkels along with kayaks. We didn’t see anything worth noting while snorkeling. There’s a small pool behind the restaurant also. The grille is open for lunch and the servers will bring you food and drinks on the beach.

Our Bali bed, lounger cushions and pillows were thin and stained. The layout of the Bali beds offers little privacy. We were in a room near the restaurant. We asked for a sheet on the fourth side of our Bali bed as it was open to the entire restaurant. We noticed nearby guests helping themselves to our towels and pillows.

The outdoor showers in the room were great, large with high ceilings and two shower heads. Note, the room was extremely musty and the bathroom smelled foul.

Our couples massage with Jocelyn and another lady was very good.

Kris, a manager was extremely cordial and helpful in securing the bed sheet on our Bali bed and our overall satisfaction. Thanks Kris very much.

We just spent 10 relaxing days at Keyonna in a sanctuary pool cottage. Loved loved the privacy, the plunge pool and the fact we had dedicated chairs and a beach bed, so none of that towel-to-mark-your-chair nonsense. We had superb, attentive beach service from Deshaune, who brought us drinks and afternoon snacks (the Jamaican patties were so delicious). Food is a huge draw for us and it was very, very good: lots of varieties of fish, local veg, homemade soups, desserts, all fresh and well-prepared. The staff anticipated - we got a carafe of coffee every morning and they would have it waiting. Warm, attentive service throughout. This is a quiet spot - live music every night, but otherwise few activities - it’s not a high energy vacay. Which suited us perfectly. There were a couple of days that we didn’t get fresh beach towels or hand towels on our room - not sure if this was a laundry issue? - but that’s the pickiest thing I can say. Overall it was an outstanding stay.

Hi Angelagk75790G Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful and detailed review of your stay with us! It brings us so much joy to know that your 10 days in the Sanctuary Pool Cottage were everything you hoped for and more. We aim to provide our guests with a truly seamless experience, so it’s wonderful to hear how much you appreciated those details and no "towel-to-mark-your-chair nonsense" indeed! Deshaune will be absolutely thrilled to hear your kind words about his attentive beach service. He takes great pride in creating memorable moments for our guests, and we’re so glad he contributed to making your time on the beach so enjoyable (and yes, those Jamaican patties are a guest favorite!). Our chefs craft dishes that highlight fresh, local ingredients, so knowing it was a highlight of your stay is truly rewarding. And we're so glad the team anticipated your morning coffee needs, that’s exactly the kind of personalized service we strive for. We do apologize for the slight hiccup with the towels. It’s something we’ll review to ensure it doesn’t detract from anyone’s stay in the future. We truly appreciate your understanding and your kind words despite this. We’re so happy to hear that the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere was just what you were looking for. Thank you again for choosing us, and for taking the time to share your experience. We’d love to welcome you back for another outstanding stay in the future. Until then, take care

My husband and I had such a great time at Keyonna. Antigua in general is amazing, everyone is so friendly and the beach is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The ocean is such a vibrant blue. No seaweed, lots of good snorkeling opportunities!

We stayed 3 full days, which was plenty for me considering it’s a very small resort - which is exactly what we wanted! It’s very quiet and only has one restaurant plus the beach grill. The restaurant was really good, breakfast and lunch menu is always the same and dinner changes every night. I do wish there was more variety in the lunch menu. Service was always great.

We got a beachfront room. It had an outdoor shower, which I ended up loving! The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, I had a hard time sleeping. There are more bugs here than at any other resort I’ve ever been to, which is just something I wish I had a little more warning on. Obviously not something they can control, but the hotel does absolutely everything it can to combat this. They fog for bugs every other day at 5 pm. It seemed to help with everything except the flies, which will definitely be around in the restaurant, which is outdoors. Again, this is just the island. The hotel provides Raid spray for the room and our bed had a mosquito canopy we could put around it. They also provide Off bug spray.

My biggest issue was that we got a beach front room, but there are some cabana beds that are not beach front. One of the things that drew me to this resort was that each room had an assigned cabana bed and chairs, and you did not have to worry about getting a spot! We got assigned a cabana bed in the second row, right next to the loud and very fragrant beach grill, and we could not see the ocean at all. We were looking directly into some bushes actually. We asked multiple times about moving to the front row and finally, on our second full day, they moved us up and said we could keep it for the rest of our stay. This bed and view was amazing. But I would definitely suggest emailing and ensuring that you get a front row cabana bed, because otherwise to me it would honestly not be worth it. The view is way too amazing to miss.

Starting with the positives

Turners Beach is wonderful, lovely fine sand and blue sea and the hotel location is right on the beach. The hotel can only be described as a main OPEN building which incorporates reception, dining room and bar. They describe it as a rustic gem. We would agree with the rustic description.

There are a number of issues that spoiled our trip and these can be put in the following categories:

Accommodation was very tired and worn. outside shower was functional but very tatty and poor quality. The room was very dark and no light in the wardrobe to access the safe. Everything felt sticky to touch, tables chairs etc. We stayed in an upgrade room right on the beach, yet the difference between our room and others was minimal. The plunge pool floor had paint peeling off and generally needed refurbishing. A number of the cabana’s were sinking into the sand and tatty. The resort only has one restaurant and the food quality was average to poor. Breakfast had a good selection, but the evening meals were quite poor, often the food was cold and lacking flavour. The biggest issue is the level of service which was very poor. Not the individuals who were doing their best, but the lack of staff, an antiquated iPad system for taking orders and this kept many guests waiting for up to 30 minutes between courses on occasions. A number of people were complaining and they got an apology but nothing really changed ( leave it with us attitude). This is not fine dining, or even good restaurant quality. Some of the staff need further training.
On departure day, although check out was @12pm they came to clean the pool at 11.15 making the final morning shorter, moreover as the shower was outdoors the pool man was working whilst we were trying to get ready - spoilt out last day.
The resort only has air con in the rooms, not in the common parts - so when you have to leave and no longer have access to the room- there is nowhere to keep cool.

In summary, the location and beach is amazing but we will not be returning to this particular resort in the future.

After much research we decided that Keyonna Beach was the small hotel for us.
We arrived after a long journey from UK and a long wait at the airport due to slow customs.
We were met by Arillas who took our cases and directed us to the Receptionist who at first impression was keen to get us to take photos of all the daily trips, menus etc.. After a long journey it was not the best welcome..
As I have several food allergies and intolerances i was very anxious to feel confident that my dietary requirements would be met and i had informed the hotel prior to our arrival..But i needn't have worried as the next day the chef Hensley introduced himself to me and we discussed all the items which were problematic. The restaurant staff were all made aware of my name ,room number and all the items that i could not have. Also as i have a fructose intolerance and am diabetic there are several sugar free drinks/mixers that upset me..The hotel had ordered me some sugar free tonic water but unfortunately they had fructose as a sweetener so were unsuitable.. But the duty manager Inger went to the local supermarket and found some suitable tonics, and other sugar free soft drinks....all the restaurant and bar staff went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was relaxing and not stressful..
The Breakfast staff Odeal,Sheldon,Tiffany,Attesha,Caheem with new starter Darina were very attentive. And the pastry chef Kito was always passing with his basket of freshley baked cakes..Beach waiters,Amir, Deshaun,Fearon,Tevin and the Master griller kept us hydrated during the day and the Evening staff Lyndon,Maria,Tinija,Gerrie Lee,Kimberley,Brian and Shem another new starter were all very proffesional in making sure we had all our food and drinks.. Special mention to Ruel who kept the bar well stocked , such a hard working guy always smiling..
We had such a fabulous relaxing two weeks and all staff from, houskeeping, gardeners to waiting, bar and reception were attentive and helpful..
The only negative for us were the large group of americans who were very disrespectful to the lovely staff. They treated them like servants...and it did make the service in the restaurant take a longer tme as their constant demands kept the staff from the other guests!!
I must mention the builders that arrived on the second week to dismantle a pool that was falling onto the beach from a cottage.. It took 3 days as they didn't have the correct tools.. Also the room next to ours had a roof leak which needed repairing and management informed us that this was being done.. that also took 3 days.. we did have some debris fall into our outside shower but it was cleaned up pretty quickly when we informed the staff ..
None of this building work made an impact on our enjoyment and we hope to return next year if funds allow..
Thanks to Inger and her hard working staff for making our stay so relaxing, I really can't recognise the staff in a previous review..

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in a beachfront sanctuary cottage, The room privacy was amazing, just what we were looking for. Upon check in to the room, there was no Corona which was important to my husband; we were not in the room for 10 minutes and Ingre had it delivered to us. That was amazing! Unfortunately, it took a few days to get jalapeños for the margaritas, but it was done on day three of our visit, which we did appreciate. Unfortunately there were 2 roosters across the street who woke us up very early (5 am). We mentioned this after our first night there thinking nothing could be done. Surprisingly 2 days later Sandy had listened to our concern and had earplugs delivered to us - this remedied the issue. Drinks were typically great, but a couple of times the quality and service at dinner was not to their typical high standards. Drink service on the beach and lunch service to your villa was amazing! Such a treat not have to go to the bar to get your own drinks. Overall, we loved the category of room that we chose, just felt that the price may be a little bit on the high side for what you get.

Hi Donna D It was such a pleasure taking care of you both during your stay! I’m so glad we could have gotten the corona to your husband right away; it’s the little things that make a trip special. And I appreciate your patience with the jalapeños. As for the roosters, well, what’s a Caribbean experience without a little early morning serenade? They sure do love to let everyone know it's a new day! But I’m really glad Sendy got you those earplugs so you could have gotten some well-deserved rest. Your feedback on dinner service is truly appreciated, and we’ll make sure to keep improving. It was wonderful having you here, and we do look forward to welcome you back again Best Regards,

Let's start with the positives-we were upgraded to a beachfront sanctuary pool cottage which was awesome! The room was beautiful and the view was breathtaking. The A/C kept the room cool, which was needed this time of year. The water was clear and calm-probably the best we have ever experienced in the Caribbean. The weather was nice every day. There was rain at times but it never lasted. The staff were extremely friendly. Room service came daily. The resort was generally very quiet and provided you a lot of privacy. Taxi services were always on time. The evening entertainment wasn't bad.
What to be aware of: if you have the means, invest in a beachfront sanctuary pool cottage. I say this because, depending on the other rooms you get, your view of the ocean (which is probably something you are going for) is blocked by cabana beds and shrubbery. Also, depending on your room, your cabana is behind others and also blocks your view of the water. With the sanctuary beachfront cottage, you have your own direct line to the beach apart from everyone else so nothing is blocked. Had we gotten the garden cottage we paid for, I likely would have been very upset with the views. The mosquitoes this time of year are bad depending on the day and the bug spray doesn't really help. So if you are hoping to lay out and star gaze (and the stars are amazing here), you probably won't be able to without being bitten up. I think they do their own waste water management there, which is great, but if you walk down that path leading near this, there is a strong smell of it and I think there are rooms back that way. I can't imagine how those people felt having to smell that the whole time. You also smelled it going into the main building at night. Dinner was okay. Presentation was nice, but it always seemed to be brown/bland colored food for dinner. Service can also take upwards of almost 1 1/2 hours for meals depending on the day (and I can't tell you why it varied). We were definitely looking forward to going back to the states to have food made to our standards.
Overall, we stayed for 7 nights and we felt that was too long. I don't know that we would ever go back to this resort again, but we are glad we had this experience.

Nothing during the day other than relaxation. They have board games in the lobby that you can take to your Bali bed. I would love to recommend a Bluetooth speaker, but we had a bad experience with our neighbors playing theirs way too loud. Even when they went out snorkeling, they left it playing. If you keep it at a reasonable volume, it's OK. You can kayak, or rent jet skis. Both time we went, it wasn't at full capacity, so for the most part, it's very quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend Keyonna. Not a spring break vibe at all.

Hi Justin, we stayed in room 24 which is very close to the reception area. it is a 1st floor room which has a great view of the sea and sunsets. we loved where we were as it was close to the pool also. The room was comfortable but really is in need of refurbishment. We did speak to others who were staying in the new block and i think the rooms are larger and more modern, but you have the walk to the main retaurant and bar although the beach waiters are always available to get you drinks or food.. Personally if we returned we would ask for a room in thenewer block and preferably on the 1st floor.
