The location is right on the beach a short drive from Salinas. The guest room we stayed in was dirty, and the innkeeper was helpful when she was around, but overall this is just a little shabby for the price. Pool not clean, rooms worn and dirty, etc.

The property is not maintained very well. The bed in our room was old and worn-out. The sheets were thin. We had to ask for towels and when they delivered the towels, they were still damp. The shower head sprayed water all over the room when I took a shower. The kitchen is a mess and unclean. The pool was...

Sorry about your experience. Unfortunately you arrived just before our renovations had begun. As you can tell from other peoples experience that is not the norm. I am sure if you have the oppotunity to visit us in the future, you will not recognize the place! Joel, owner

What a magical gem! The beach is practically deserted and the sounds of the waves lull you into a state of complete and utter tranquility. I have never slept better or meditated longer than during my all too brief stay at Susan's property in Anconcito. Susan was charming, funny and full of local information. The accommodations are basic; which for...

My friend and I were looking for what everyone else was not--a quiet coastal spot for the weekend of Carnaval. We found it at this lovely, secluded B and B perched above the ocean, with a beautiful pool, easy access to a long, sandy beach with pounding surf (and surfers!), breezy porches and balconies. The innkeeper, Susan, a transplanted American,...

The manager bent over backwards to be of service but has two large dogs, one of which is a rescue dog and for people nervous about pit bull Rottweiler mixes, this is not the place for you. We could not get out of the car until the dogs had been corralled. The rooms are small and would suit younger surfers....

Thank you for your words regarding the helpfulness of our manager Susan. I would like to mention here a few of the points you noted in your review. Our rooms are actually larger than most typical rooms in Ecuador. Beds are either doubles or queen sized, nothing small about them. The pool is quite large by almost anyone's standards and...

On August 20, 2013, I walked onto the property with two other people with a 7 lb papillon on a leash. The manager knew I was coming with my dog but did not know I was coming with the two other people even though her guardiano was not surprised to see me at the airport with her waiting on the...

The Ocean Hideaway is not a "pet-friendly" location and is not advertised as such on any website -- the statement of the reviewer is false. The ocean Hideaway has a strict no pet policy. The reviewer above was familiar with dogs who live here at the Ocean Hideaway as she had in fact been offered overnight lodging for the purpose...

The Ocean HideAway is probably the most unique resort in the entire Salinas area. If you don't like mingling with hundreds of other tourists, or listen to the car alarms that seem to go off in Salinas 24 hours a day... or get over-priced activities on the main beaches of Salinas... if you seek tranquility, great food, personal service, and...
