We enjoyed our stay, it was very comfortable and peaceful. We stayed in a suite which is very new, modern, spacious and clean. The restaurant/bar is in a historic state house, the staff are very friendly. The meals were really good and the foods were fresh.

We had a great time staying at the lodge for one night and the restaurant was excellent. Highly recommended for those who would like to stay somewhere near the track. The lodge is just a very short walk from the track.

we arrived after a long hike and even though we had reserved a table for us 12 nobody knew about it. Okay, we got a table after a while but it took quite a while. Had to get our own beverages at the bar..food was okay. My opinion: even though they are kind of 'at the end of the world'...

We stayed at Furneaux Lodge as part of our Queen Charlotte walk, which to his extent makes the lodge a perfect location along the route. That said the property itself is tired and could do with some investment, this is not a cheap option along the route and would have expected a better quality of accommodation for the price paid....

Dear Opinion-noted, Thanks for posting your review. We have a programme of running repairs and upgrades here at Furneaux Lodge - two chalets are being overhauled this winter, the restaurant is receiving an update and we have been consulting with experts on a renovation for the bar. As the guardians of some pretty special buildings and history, we are always...

We ate and had a couple of drinks here after a long day walking the queen Charlotte track. The food was excellent and well priced considering the lodge is so remote. I would recommend to anyway looking for a wholesome meal after a long day.

We stayed in a self catering Chalet. Window sill in the shower needs new paint, but apart from that it was great. Great refuge after a wet days tramping from Ship Cove. Bar/Restaurant a great asset. Food great and well priced. Accommodation seems overpriced for standard.

Dear Dee20202, We're very pleased to hear how much you enjoyed sheltering at Furneaux Lodge after your wet walk. Thanks for your kind comments on the accommodation, bar, restaurant and food. The chalets undergo a constant cycle of repairs each winter so we'll make sure we address that window sill this year! Thanks for pointing it out. All of our...

We arrived at Furneaux Lodge after our first day of mountain biking Queen Charlotte's track. We checked into one of the Studio rooms overlooking the water and returned to the main lodge for a drink. One of the staff members had moved a table to a corner of the verandah so we were able to enjoy the last of the...

Fortunately we only visited for about an hour, waiting for the water taxi after walking from Ship Cove. The toilets were dirty and overall the place was very run down, which is a shame because it is in a beautiful location.

Dear APDC2014, How disappointing to hear about your impression of Furneaux Lodge. We have a lot of history here, of which we're very proud, and historic buildings which are undergoing a constant renovation programme, as well as a huge range of accommodation options from waterfront suites to hikers' cabins to chalets for families. We would hope to show you more...

Please don't make the same mistake I did and stay here. If you want to stay in the Sounds I strongly recommend Portage or Punga Cove over Furneaux. The service was far below what I would expect: massive delays when dining, unwelcoming and unhelpful, surly staff, including the manager, and the standard of accommodation was extremely poor. The 'excuse' that...

We recently stayed here as part of a 10 day trip to NZ. There were 7 in our group (4 adults and 3 children) and I had booked for 1 night in a 2 bedroom chalet and one of the suites to accommodate all of us. Our stay here was the absolute low light of our trip, and unbeleivably disappointing!...

Dear mrsmac756, We are so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at Furneaux Lodge.
