Our son visited the hotel in November. He knows how much we love comfort, good food, individuality in hotels and the mountains of Southern Spain, so he recommended we try it. Booked a couple of nights with another couple. Welcome exceptional, especially as the shorter route in the mountains was shut. Di gave us clear details of an alternative route,...

Wonderful welcoming hotel with great food. Lots of space, we had the ground floor room, so handy and large.beautifully decorated. In the general lounge area, we had nooks and crannies to loll about in.The roof terrace was very spacious and a great place to relax in the sun. Astonishing mountain scenery around. Peaceful and quiet.Loved it! Great personal touches by...

You can be assured of excellent hospitality in Los Castanos: the food is delicious and served with aplomb! Di's cooking is a revelation in this little hamlet. The rooms are bright, airy, and furnished in an authentic rustic style. Rhonda is close by and the proprietor is very happy to help with travel arrangements to this beautiful town and also...

The hotel is personalised in every way. Host Di rebuilt the place with loving care and it looks perfect next to the 16th century church, as if it has been there as long. Di and partner John are wonderful hosts, easygoing and full of stories and information, meticulous to the smallest detail. Special dietary requirements? No problem. The food is...

This is a lovely B&B in the tiny white hill town of Cartajima, about 15 km south of Ronda. It is operated by Di and John, a gracious and thoroughly charming couple originally from the UK, who make you feel entirely at home. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely balcony view. The common living/dining room area is...

We had a perfect few days at Los Castanos, walking, driving, exploring, eating great food and meeting interesting people. Di and John have a gift of hospitality and their local knowledge was invaluable to us. The great reputation of Di's cooking is well deserved. We enjoyed relaxing on the roof terrace and in the lounge as well as in our...

This was our 4th visit to Los Castanos and it never disappoints. Food, as usual, was first class as were all the amenities. Di and John are the perfect hosts and will always go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with everything.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Los Castanos. Our room was comfortable and well equipped with the bonus of a great view over the village to the mountains. The roof terrace at the top and the lounge downstairs are great places to relax and we loved having the fire downstairs when the weather turned chilly. There is a very...

This was a perfect place for us, three friends who wanted to spend time walking in the hills, chatting and eating delicious food. We had a great welcome, our hosts Di and John couldn't have been more helpful with maps of local walks and helpful tips. The rooms were great too and we'd definitely like to visit again.

A very charming hotel with even more charming hosts who make you feel at home while you are far away from it. It is a place to retire, to relax, to enjoy nature, quiteness, peace, time... We stayed there just for one night and I can assure is not enough...we really had the feeling we would have loved to enjoy...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just six kilometres off the tourist trail to Ronda is a valley with stunning mountain scenery and eagles soaring overhead. You are heading for Cartajima, one of the most traditional of the famous Andalucian pueblos blancos, white mountain villages. Following our driving directions, you arrive outside the great chestnut doors of Los Castanos behind which there is quality accommodation, personal, informal atmosphere, local wines and great home-cooked food. Relax in your spacious bedroom with its enormous bed, soft sheets and fantastic mountain views. Stretch out on a lounger on the rooftop terrace, savor your wine and melt into the mountains. This must be the most perfect getaway, a totally indulgent mountain village hotel in a completely unexpected location. ... more   less
