First class food snd drink, just off the A1 near Thirsk. A foodies delight, unpretentious quality offerings at reasonable prices, great beers and an exceptional wine list. Also sells wine to take away. Some amazing offerings including a great South African red, available in large formats for a special event.

My friend and I booked one nights stay at the Nags head last minute, as an add on from a week in Northumberland, so that we could visit the nearby fountains abbey en route home. We booked through an online booking site and not directly with the inn. We thought nothing more of it until the afternoon of our stay.... More

Our visit was for a meal only. Lovely meal in cosy surroundings. The food was excellent, attention to detail first class. The menus are a bit difficult to understand but it adds a little twist to the night.

Excellent accommodation at this country inn with 'hands on' mine hosts, the Boyntons, clearly as popular with locals as with visitors from further afield. Our bedroom was well furnished and attractive with a well appointed shower room. Dinner(which was fully booked even on a Sunday evening)was first class and substantial as was breakfast; both served by friendly staff. Given it's... More

We stayed again at the Nag's Head last night and the food was excellent. Even though they were fully booked & very busy, the food was fantastic and of the highest standard (& they even cooked something especially for our son which was not on the menu which was much appreciated by him !) The rooms were very clean and... More

We almost got to stay here. Due to the Yorkshire Game show, rooms were in short supply. We were really excited to book a room at the Nags Head in Pickhill. The food reviews were great and the extensive wine list had a number of bottles that were of interest, so many in fact that I would struggle to consume... More

I have stayed at the Nags head a few times over the years. It is such a good location, real country feel yet only a few miles from the A1. Comfortable rooms and a friendly welcome. Good North Yorkshire beer and super quality food for dinner. A quiet location and a large car park, perfect for the business traveler. I... More

We called in here as we were heading back from a weekend break in West Tanfield. We all had two courses from the Sunday lunch menu. The ambience within the restaurant was lovely. A nice log burning fire and a welcoming host. The food was also wonderful. Incredibly filling and full of flavour. If we were in the area again... More

We arrived on Sunday evening, were given a lovely, clean and bright room with a huge bed. We had a fabulous freshly cooked meal washed down with some Theakston bitter. The hosts were warm and friendly. Everything about our short stay was great. The bathroom was spotless with an amazing shower. The water whooshed out as apposed to a trickle.... More
