Before going to the Royal Antiguan (RA), my girlfriend & I read literally all the reviews here, so we thought we had a pretty good idea of what to expect on our vacation. First, some background. We're in our mid-thirties, and I like activities while my girlfriend just likes to chill on the beach or by the pool. Neither of...

WOULD NEVER RETURN TO THIS RESORT! We spent my birthday week here and what a disappointment. The staff was rude and unaccommodating. We were promised top shelf liquor and none was provided. We were told there was three restaurants and only two were open if you were lucky (fine dining restaurant only open weekends and one day during week Fri,...

The Royal Antiguan greets you with a weather beaten somewhat white building and a rum punch. Not knowing what to expect I had called ahead and asked for rose pedals and a bottle of champagne as I was looking to get engaged. When i got to my room i saw what looked like a welcoming basket with a card that...

My wife, myself and 2 children (ages 7 & 11) just returned from 9 days at the Royal Antiguan (7/3/04 to 7/12/04) and enjoyed ourselves very much. We cretainly appreciated and benefitted from all the previous Trip Advisor advice and comments and agreed with those who said that this hotel was greater than the sum of its flaws-which were few...

Myself,my wife and our two children stayed at the resort for only one week. We wanted to stay for longer. The hotel was great, but did need some attention. Every day we did see signs of work being done, without any hassle to the guests. The staff were more than friendly and the facilities were very good. The food was...

Rooms are what you expect for a 3 star hotel. Service was extremely slow (I think that is just a cultural thing). Food was Awful except for Barrington’s (you need to make reservations and it is frequently booked for events). Antigua / Saint Johns is dead. Not much of interest to see locally. What was good you ask? The beach...

This is not a five star hotel. It's a three star, so you cannot arrive at this place expecting five star service and five star facilities. If you do you're going to be disappointed. The thing is there’s no need to get upset, the Royal Antiguan is great and if you come prepared you’ll love it! For a start, one...

We just got back last night from Antigua We stayed from June 25, to The 28 of June 2004 and yes we did stay at the Royal Antiguan. I have to say it was very relaxing. After reading some of these reviews I was very scared at what to expect at the royal antigua, however upon our arrival, I changed...

The hotel greets you with a very poorly laid out Butlins like setting for the front desk. First Night we had no air conditioning and most nights had no hot water.......we paid for the so called "all inclusive" but were nickeled and dimed every day wich drove the price up considerably. The staff if asked quitely will confess that they...

I stayed at the Royal Antiguan from the 4th - 11th of June 2004. As I had read the reviews on this website before hand I went with very low expectations which worked to my advantage as had I expected what I had seen on their website I would have been very dissapointed. 3 of us shared a standard room...
