This was our first visit to Antigua and we loved all 4 days! We are adventurous and rented a car for the entire trip to make the most of the small island. Our stay at the Copper and Lumber Store was excellent. With only 14 rooms, it allowed the Hotel to offer a personalized experience for us. The Royal Sovereign Room was large, had a kitchenette and beautiful views of the dockyard. Maurisa, was a very friendly, courteous and helpful and constantly ensuring that we had everything we needed. Her knowledge of the island was evident and definitely assisted us in planning our daily itineraries.
We would highly recommend these accommodations. As a couple in their 40s, we found the hotel clean, quiet and in a very convenient location, while offering all the amenities you could ask for in this type of establishment.

We had been in Antigua for business and had moved around the island during the 2 weeks of our stay. Copper & Lumber was by far the best hotel for quality of room and value for money.
Gillian who was our main point of contact during our stay was fabulous, as was Brenda and Cornelius ( I hope I got that right!) All of the reception staff were super efficient, booking our covid test when it was out of hours and where also very friendly. We stayed for 5 night. The first room we had was called Hardy - a large split level room, with small kitchenette, large living area on one floor with tons of storage, a bathroom on the half landing and a large bedroom with vaulted ceiling on the top floor, far more space than we actually needed, and although lovely it was VERY dark with no view. After we decided to stay for a little longer I requested to be moved to a room with more light and a bit of a view , we were given a room called Brittania , all one level, again with a kitchenette, sofa, dining table and incredible views over the super yachts, perfect .It also had a great bathroom with a recently renovated shower stall, lots of lovely dark wood, which made you feel you were on a boat. The bed was comfy , little soft for my personal preference and did creak a lot when you turned over at night. The rooms are traditionally furnished with dark wood furniture, maritime themed pictures with classical soft furnishings, as you would expect from a hotel of this age, everything was very tasteful.
We didn't eat in the hotel, but breakfast was included and is served on the terrace overlooking the yachts.
We thought that were some missed oppertunities for additional income and would have loved to have seen traditional afternoon tea served on the lawn, something that is very popular on other Caribbean islands and would have fitted the hotel and its setting, as well as bringing in additional revenue.
The hotel is situated in Nelsons Dock Yard, A UNESCO World heritage site, the buildings within the dockyard are all spectacular, steeped in history. It is a short walk to a few bars and a small supermarket and about a 7 minute walk into English Harbour which has a larger selection of restaurants and bars.
We stayed in 5 hotels during our time in Antigua and this was by far the best for quality, service, location and value.
Thank you to all the lovely staff at this super hotel, your boss should be proud of you!

As a family of four we have all had the most wonderful stay at the Copper and Lumber Store. The staff were so helpful from the beginning, carrying our cases up to our room - a suite which was incredibly spacious over two floors. The staff were attentive the whole holiday- from remembering our preferences for breakfast to offering us a late room check out free of charge. It was my daughter’s birthday whilst staying at the hotel and they were so kind, playing some music and singing to her over breakfast, whilst also making a special cake. In the evening, the receptionist also sang beautiful birthday wishes to her. All so unexpected and just pure acts of kindness. The hotel is in a perfect and tranquil location. We couldn’t have asked for anymore.

I booked my stay at the Copper Lumber Store Hotel six months in advance through Booking.com, looking forward to a pleasant visit in February. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had anticipated, leading to significant inconvenience and frustration.
A day before my scheduled arrival, I decided to confirm my reservation directly with the hotel. To my dismay, I was initially informed that they had no record of my booking. Concerned, I contacted Booking.com, who after some communication, confirmed that my reservation did indeed exist but was informed by the hotel that they could not accommodate me due to being fully booked.
The hotel's handling of the situation was utterly disappointing. Not only was there a lack of sympathy or understanding for the inconvenience caused by their oversight, but their response also came off as rude and dismissive. The message was clear: it was my problem to solve, not theirs. This lack of responsibility and customer service is not what one would expect from a reputable hotel.
As a result of this last-minute notification, I was forced to find alternative accommodation, which ended up costing me three times more than my original booking. This not only put a financial strain on my travel budget but also added unnecessary stress to what was supposed to be a well-planned trip.
In summary, the experience I had with Copper Lumber Store Hotel was highly unsatisfactory. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and inability to honor a confirmed reservation reflect poorly on their management and operations. I would caution potential guests to consider these factors seriously when making their accommodation choices.

Booked for New Year, meant to be the highlight of our stay in Antigua. What a let down. Firstly, we didn't notice the tax in the small print of the reservation. Our fault, as we're getting old. However, when we were shown our room (Contemporary Studio) it was absolutely hideous and different from the photographs on their website that we used as a basis for booking. This hotel has so much history it is utterly wasted on the present owners and management.

The location is lovely. The building old and historic. Reception staff lovely. That’s where it ends for our family group. We had a room on the top floor. The room was very expensive for what it is and we are not maintenance group. The room was extremely dark, not enough lighting to find something in your bag, higgledy piggledy furniture, curtains on old wooden rods that you need to move to open the windows, in need of full bathroom and kitchenette renovation. Breakfast offered but no dinner option, one dark bar which wasn’t open in the evening. The full downstairs of the hotel is open and empty for events, aside from a sofa in reception, almost no guest areas to sit. It could be so lovely with big market umbrellas and outdoor furniture set up in courtyard or one nicely set up common area. We transferred from Admirals Inn and by comparison, Copper and Lumber is not even close with the room quality or the tithe service provided at Admirals

This is a story of missed potential. Located in charming English Harbor, this hotel is in a historic building with a willing and helpful staff. Sadly, it lacks a decent lobby for lounging, has no pool, no food or beverage service on a Saturday after 5 pm, only an acceptable breakfast offering and rooms that are two stories with the bed on level two and the bathroom on level one, connected by a steep stairwell. The room I had offered a sofa but no lamps to enable reading; lighting in the room was harsh neon so that all the charm of the space disappeared. Better to stay next door at The Admirals Inn which offered a welcoming lounge, bar and decent restaurant with access to a pool. Copper could be an amazing place if someone would take the time to decorate the common spaces and provide decent beds (mine was a thick foam mattress which wasn't all that comfortable).

The hotel was empty when we arrived…Antigua was just coming out of its latest lockdown and associated curfew restrictions and, as a result, the hotel had been through some restoration/redecoration work. That meant the facilities weren’t fully functioning - no bar, no restaurant. In fact we were the only guests for the entire three days…a unique experience. Nevertheless, Brenda and Claudius made us feel most welcome. In fact, Claudius seemed to be there 24/7! Once they got over the shock of having guests again, nothing could be too much trouble - breakfast was brought to the room on a daily basis (an extended continental with additional items we requested) as there was no restaurant, and on one night Claudius played music outside our room to serenade my wife as we drank wine and ate a platter of meats and cheeses. We also saw them prep beautifully for a rehearsal dinner (inc fireworks) one evening, for a couple who were getting married nearby. As for the hotel itself, it is a period property that is traditionally decorated and furnished as such…do not expect a modern contemporary feel. But it was a treat to stay somewhere so atmospheric, that imbued that sense of history. We loved it. Thank you Brenda and Claudius!

Had lunch in the pub-style restaurant. Service staff friendly, food mediocre to poor. Very pricey. The big take-away for me came when paying the bill, which clearly included a Service Charge. I was asked if I wanted to include a tip and when I stated that the bill included Service Charge, the employee (perhaps Manager, not sure) just said "Oh". It felt like they were keeping the prices normal on the menu, just to add 10% extra and then wanting tips on top of that. For this reason alone, I wouldn't go back.

We came to stay at the Copper & Lumber hotel to be ready to welcome my daughter when she rowed into English Harbour at the end of her solo row across the Atlantic! The position is second to none, and the quiet atmosphere of the hotel perfect for appreciating the beauty, splendour and history of the historic Nelson’s dockyard where this hotel is situated. We all absolutely loved staying here, the rooms were simply yet elegantly furnished and all slightly different which was fun. We ended up extending our stay as we loved the hotel so much, and I would return anytime with great joy . The staff were all generally very helpful , bright and cheerful, with beautiful smiling Gillian on reception lightening our every day, and also Claudius , Michelle, Edward and many more .. thank you all for your kindness and attention to detail .. My daughter Lara, who rowed the Atlantic loved being there too, so all in all a great lucky experience . Thank you ❤️🙏 see you again x
