Owner at Dutch Village 24 years. No longer the relaxing, place to vacation. If you are going to relax and enjoy the swimming pools, beware as the policy is that everyone at the Tam resort are allowed in our pools. This was restricted but now unruly, kids are left to swim there unsupervised... parents go in the ocean instead. This has kids jumping, splashing and they often use fowl language. Not a place to be.

Thank you for your review of your recent stay with us. We are very sorry to hear about your disappointment with the pool policy. We are constantly monitoring the pools to make sure that everyone will continue to enjoy their relaxing vacations. The three large new pools are mostly very quiet. We look forward to seeing you back again next time and we assure you that you will enjoy your vacation.

rooms were clean on the surface, but in corners etc were dirty. Towels and soap were not always automatically refreshed. Outside staircases and pool decks could also use a good cleaning. Loved the Tiki Bar for breakfast. Slow pace but better than the buffet at Tamarjin or AI. Did not see bartenders serving at the swim up bar when we were there, just if they walked to the other side. That is part of the experience. Wished there were public bathrooms outside the pool area. Would have been great if we were on the 1st floor, but was a pain going up to third. And if we were at the pool not near our room we had to go to the bunker bar bathroom. Main pool could also use some maintenance. many tiles missing on the stairs and stains on floor. But the view and convenience to Tamarjin and AI was great. Have stayed at the golf twice. Both have pros and cons. Not sure where I will be staying next time.

I stayed in a one bedroom suite and it was very nice. All the staff was nice ,however I am so thankful to the concierge, Ilaisa. She was so wonderful. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. I had some problems with my excursions and she straightened them out for us and made sure we got there on time. She really became family for us and I recommend everyone to stay at Divi Dutch. Always ask for Ilaisa, she is the best! ( She gives a personal touch, in which you will not get anywhere else) This was my husband birthday celebration and it could not have been better. Thanks to Ilaisa I will be returning.

1. Avoid Divi Dutch Village if you travel with little children. 2. The Dutch Village suffers from false advertising, which makes you believe it’s like the rest of the Divi resorts. It is not. It is more of an ugly, underdeveloped appendix of the Divi system. Now, on with the details. A few years ago my family stayed at the Divi Aruba all-inclusive. When you have little kids, you don’t want to wander around restaurants and wait for meals. You want everything with easy, quick access, so the all-inclusive aspect had worked very well for us. So we decided to stay at the Dutch Village, since it is also advertised on travel sites as “all inclusive" (see snapshot). Unfortunately, once we arrived at the Dutch, the front desk surprised us by the news that our reservation included breakfast only! To include all food and drink they asked for additional $190/person/day! Their manager would not listen to anything, even when we showed the all-inclusive confirmation from the travel website. We spent 1.5 hours on the phone with the travel site and Divi Dutch administration, while waiting at the front desk with upset little kids-- to no avail, except for a small credit. Next, rooms at the Dutch are at the periphery of the whole Divi complex. There are pools, but for everything else it takes long walks to get anywhere, including the beach and restaurants. This can create logistical nightmares when you travel with little children. For example: the Dutch has no beach— their part of the seashore is hard rocks (see picture). The closest beach is Tamarin, which is a good 15-20 min walk. AND, you have to be there at 7:30am if you want to reserve beach chairs under a palapa (palm leaf tent). They have shuttles, but it’s a hit-or -miss, and oftentimes we would wait for 15 mins for one. The waiting time steals a good 1-1.5 hours out of your day every day. And it’s not fun to keep folding and unfolding the stroller to load in the shuttle multiple times per day, while going around the Divi facilities. Another example: let’s say you want to eat at their buffet at Tamarin- the closest Divi complex to the Dutch. You can’t just come and eat there. You have to purchase tickets at the resort receptionist desk and use them the same day. To do that, you have to wait in the same line there as the people registering or checking out. Same goes for drinks at their bar- you have to prepay tickets for each drink at the front desk, then come back to the bar to get the drinks. Other simple things: their towel kiosks close at 4pm. So if you use pools or the beach past that, you go home with wet towels you have used. The kiosks re-open at 8am, which means you have to use the old towels in the morning to reserve beach chairs (you have to attach the towels to the chairs under the palapa, so no one takes it). And when your family is finally at the beach, then you have to schlep back with the old towels to exchange them (I didn’t see towel kiosks at the Tamarin beach itself). All the distances and inefficiencies tire you out. All would be fair game if Divi Dutch had openly disclosed all these nuances, so the traveler could make an informed choice. Again, do not assume it’s like Divi Aruba all-inclusive. Also at Divi Dutch they seem to have infrastructure problems. One morning we woke up and the floors in our room were wet. The water seemed to be rising from the bathroom. It is possible this was backed up sewers. For several days before we had been informing the hotel of the water accumulating in the shower stall and draining slowly. Not sure what, if anything, was done about it. Moreover, on our first day in the room we saw dirt by the shower drain, so the problem might have been present for the previous guest as well. They moved us to a new, upgraded room, but packing everything in a wet room, moving, and unpacking in a different room, with little kids around, is not the kind of stress you want to go through while on resort vacation. I suggest you don’t leave your stuff on the floor, to avoid things getting wet from flooding— especially if you stay in room 132. The trouble didn't end there. The bathroom in the new room had persistent sewer smell. The room phone was broken, and remained broken for the rest of our stay despite our multiple requests to fix it. Who cares about the phone, right? Well, you need the phone to communicate your needs, including calling the shuttle and reserving restaurants. One evening the toilet clogged up, and because there was no phone I had to schlep to the front desk and call maintenance from there. A guy with a plunger showed up and unclogged the toilet, so I asked him to leave the plunger in case this happened again. But... he said there was only one plunger for the entire resort! Hahaha, this is not a joke! And the toilet clogged up on our last day again... Interestingly, their bathroom at the front desk was also flushing poorly, while their shower stall at the hospitality room we used before departure was draining poorly too. ?widespread plumbing issues. By the way, the front desk at Divi Dutch closes at 8pm, so if you need something, you have to walk all the way to the Tamarin front desk. The checkout at Divi Dutch is at 10am. The lady at the front told us we would be allowed until 11am. So on our last day we went for a swim and came back to the room to get our packed things out of there. It was 9:45am, but our keys were not working- they deactivated them and we were locked out. So... again... like countless times before I had to schlep to the front desk to open the door for us. On our final way out I met a cleaning lady and asked if she could call a bellman for our luggage. It's incredible, but she knocked on another occupied room, opened the door with her key, and told me to enter that room and call the concierge! I refused, because I saw that guest's possessions in the room. I asked her to just call herself, which she did. On the upside, we met a lot of people who wanted to be very helpful. A lot of shuttle drivers go out of their way to get you where you would like to go (props to Sherino), only there are not enough of them to accommodate the volume. Overall, good people, but poor training, lack of experience, not enough staff, poor infrastructure and logistics, and above all-- poor management and lack of disclosure. Hence my rating of 2 stars.

Our visit was just last week in a studio suite, unit 42, through a timeshare exchange. It was pool front on the first floor with a nice sized patio that has a dining table and chairs. A full kitchen was equipped with a 4 burner gas range, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. This made it great for breakfast or lunch or snacking. The king bed was comfy, and good drawer and closet space. Our bathroom had a single vanity sink, and a walk in tiled shower. There is a sofa, a chair and coffee table as well. It is a 10 minute walk to a large grocery store. This resort is part of The Tamarijn, which we couldn’t figure out where Divi Dutch and Tamarijn began and ended. Also, there is a Divi Golf across the street. When you stay at any of these you can use all three. The beach is stunning! So many palapas on the white sand and lots of lounge chairs there. There are ocean front units at Divi Dutch and Tamarijn but no beach, just large rocks. Palapas are there as well. At the Dutch, all inclusive is optional. We chose not to go that route and glad that we didn’t. It is almost $200 pp per day. We spent under $1000 at the resorts. Two nights we ventured out, one to downtown for dinner and a speakeasy, and one to the high rises for a sunset cruise. There are happy hours all afternoon into the evening at several of the bars on the properties. All of our meals were delicious. In particular, the best two restaurants were Windows at the Divi Golf resort, and Paparazzi at the Tamarijn. Expect to do quite a bit of walking as it is spread out. We did about 10,000 steps a day. There are golf cart shuttles available. So many pools! Our favorite is the infinity pool at Divi Golf. All of the pools have more than adequate loungers, with the exception of The Tamarijn which is on the smaller side. The resort supplies pool towels. All employees that we talked or interacted with are friendly and nice. Same with all cab drivers and service personnel. We would definitely return to Divi Dutch in a heartbeat.

Customer service was horrible. Staff didn’t care about concerns and did nothing to rectify room problems. Had no water on check out day and they didn’t provide a temp bracelet on check out day…if you book all-inclusive, they require you to pay for the check out day but take your bracelet (other resorts offer a temp bracelet the day of check out). We we most frustrated with paying $800+ for the last day while missing out on plans due to waiting for water to shower. We had to leave without a shower and went to another resort for water and food, while staff didn’t care, manager said sorry you’re not getting any money back. The 2 days we didn’t think we had hot water and the staff kept telling us they’d check it but it wasn’t until we met and asked our neighbors if they had hot water…turns out the hot and cold were backwards and it took 5-10 minutes for it to warm up when you turned it to the cold setting. Shuttles to the other resorts took 15-20 minutes and if you book all inclusive you have to shuttle to the others or plan to give yourself 20-35 minutes to walk. When we checked out, I asked for a receipt and they printed a statement with a $0 balance. I asked for a breakdown and they said they couldn’t provide that because that comes out of their North Carolina office?? We wasted at least half a day trying to figure out these problems and I’ll have to spend more time after the trip trying rectify some of the issues. I would never stay at the Divi Dutch again and would highly recommend others to go else where. Don’t waste your time and money on a place that doesn’t care about their guests.

Aruba Divi Dutch Village This resort was relaxed and refreshingly uncomplicated. It is part of the Divi Properties you see along Aruba’s beautiful north side beaches, but the vibe here is definitely more laid back. You can book as an all inclusive guest, or hotel only. Either way you are given a wristband which grants you access to the other Divi properties and amenities free of charge. An awesome perk! The activities calendar for all the properties is digital. Make sure you scan the QR code to see the complete listing. There are daily activities around the pool such as bingo, barbecues and live entertainment. Golf at the Divi Golf is directly across the street and the activities desk can book your tee time.. If you want to try one of the other Divi properties you can either walk the paved path in the rear of the resort which connects them all, or take one of the readily available shuttles. If by chance there isn’t a shuttle waiting in the lobby the concierge desk will call one for you. If you are staying in one of the rooms with a kitchen, the grocery store is 10 minutes away by foot. The one bedroom unit was beautiful. Well decorated without being over the top. There was plenty of room 670 square feet. It included a full size living room with a separate dining room and a balcony with enough room for a lounge chair and a table seating for four. You could easily entertain a group of ten for a dinner party. The color palette was perfect - blues, grays and white. Housekeeping was very attentive and refreshed the room often. There wasn't a washer and dryer inside the unit, but there was a laundry facility on the property. The concierge desk staff and give you change for the machines. If you choose to eat at one of the other Divi properties there is a nice selection to choose from, but I also encourage you to eat off the resort property at one of the many local restaurants and eateries. There is something for everyone. The restaurant prices are comparable to New York or DC prices so plan accordingly. The taxi drivers have business cards with QR codes and you can call one directly to return you to the resort property. The beach at Divi Dutch Village is visually pleasing and there are plenty of palapas, shaded tables and lounge chairs covered by thatched roof umbrellas, available for guests The beach at this location is very rocky, however the walkable beach and swimmable beach is close by at the Divi Tamarijn . No matter what you choose to do while you are in Aruba please be sure to tip the staff, employees, waitstaff and drivers well. Tourism accounts for eighty percent of the island's income. Book your trip to the ‘Happy Island’.

Divi is a huge resort with many different sites. There is the all inclusive, the golf village, a more traditional hotel and our Dutch village, the nearest to the town, only 3 km. All sites are connected by electrical cars you can call by your room or by the reception. Divi Dutch is near the sea, some rooms are just in front of the sea, our flat was only two minutes walk from the sea, facing a beautiful swimming pool. The coast just in front of Divi Dutch is rocky, you have to walk six minutes to find a beautiful sand beach with palapas and deck chairs. Palapas are everyone's, chairs are Divi's. You have to arrive early in the morning to get deck chairs. Anyway we got them every day. Our flat was Huge , 70 mq. even too big for us. Everything was OK, no complaint, everything worked correctly, air conditioning, tv, shower, bed was comfortable.Only one small problem : our sleeping room was on the street and in the morning you could hear the noise of the traffic. It was a pity, because kitchen and dining room were very silent on the swimming pool. Staff changed our towels everyday. Staff at the reception was always kind, useful. Nicole helped us with our flight on-line check-in and gave us freely a hospitality room for half an hour to change of clothes before leaving in the afternoon.

My wife and I stayed at the Divi Dutch Village from 1/20 to 1/27/23. This was our fourth time staying here and it was jus a fabulous as our other stays. We were in building 11 in a one bedroom suite. The room was great and very big. Our checkin was easy as Nicole told us we had been upgraded from a studio suite to a one bedroom suite. We stayed on the all-inclusive plan which is the best way to stay in my opinion. We has use of all the restaurants and bars and amenities of the Divi Dutch and the Tamarijn and the Divi all inclusive. I want to take time to thank the bartenders at the Tamarin< especially John who was just so nice to us. Also Kirge and Ruby they made our stay so much fun. I will end by saying we tell people that this is our home away from home.

Overall a great stay at the divi dutch village, food is amazing with huge variety to choose from. Room is spacious and well kept. I only encountered one issue, I took my two young children to a evening swim in the hotel's pool to avoid sunburns, it was around 6pm and almost dark, two feral dogs kept circling the pool, looks ready to attack my children, I had to keep shooing them away. They never went away, just wait for me to get back into the pool would come back and try to get close to my children again. I had to end the swim early since I don't feel safe with the two feral dogs circling us. There was no hotel workers or other guests at the pool area at the time. I hope they would do a better job to control the feral dogs.
