This resort is one of the nicest we've stayed at. We had a room on the 2nd floor so we didn't have to take an elevator which we appreciated and our balcony was huge, overlooking the pool. The resort is fairly compact so you don't have to walk far to the beach. Most palapas were taken before 6am-clearly people are paying the beach staff to reserve for them. They don't follow their own rules but that is typical for resorts. There is no beach service but the pool bar isn't far if you need a drink. The food was excellent. We did try most of the specialty restaurants but honestly the buffet was just as good and you can go when you want rather than racing to be ready by 6:30pm. There are no advance reservations, you must be at the restaurant door by 6:30 and hope to get in or be one of the few who get a beeper to come back when they have an opening. There is a different theme every night at the buffet so it's not repetitive. There is entertainment every night, over by 10pm. I assume people who want night life take a taxi into town or visit the disco or casino at the adults only Riu next door. There are lots of shops and restaurants right outside the resort. If you're a walker this is a great place. There's a boardwalk along the beach in both directions and towards Oranjestad you will find a wider path that goes forever. Kiosks with bikes and scooters for rent are all over the place. Do rent a vehicle for a day to drive around the island-we got a UTV which is street legal during the day-a lot of fun. We were surprised at the constant wind here-it was one of the cooler vacations we've taken although the most South. Good for those who get easily overheated but we did hear kids complaining the pool was cold. Overall it was lovely and we felt very safe to leave the resort.

Not sure why people are reviewing Riu Antilles on the Riu Palace page? Just returned from an 8 day/7 nights stay. We had our 18 and 16 year olds along. We were checked in by the amazing Dwight. He was so efficient and got the vacation started with his great personality! We had two connecting Junior suites in the main building on floor 8. Our room was cleaned everyday by the wonderful Deanna, couldn’t have asked for better! The mini bar was stocked daily. I celebrated a birthday while there and received balloons, a bottle of champagne and a small cake when we returned from the beach. Customer service AMAZING. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and lunch, hopefully now that Covid restrictions are relaxing they can start some kind of poolside barbecue for some variety. We tried the Steakhouse and the lobster and steak with a grilled chicken Caesar salad was delicious. Most nights we walked off resort, across the street to the fun restaurant and shopping area for dinner. Not because we didn’t want to eat at Riu, but just because we enjoy the Islands vibe. Do not miss the flaming cheese wheel at Gianni’s! The main pool was so fun, the activities crew engaged everyone and tried so hard. The bar at the pool was great too. BUT we were there for the beach, and it did not disappoint. The water was calm and we spent hours in it. I brought a blow up tube from home and the guys at the water activity hit blew it up for me. They also had some rafts at that hut you could check out for the day if you didn’t have your own. We bought our own snorkel gear and went to the left of the Riu to the rock formation and saw beautiful fish every day. One day during our stay one of the elevators was out for several hours, which was a pain, but it was fixed by the time we returned that evening. All in all we loved our stay and the Happy Island and will hopefully return one day!

My wife and I just got back from a 7 day vacay at this resort. I read the negative reviews on it after booking so I didnt know what to expect really. Sunwing flight was great. Check in really quick with champagne. I paid $560 extra for the Oceanview and very happy I did and would do it again. The other rooms were partial oceanview, some with a small balcony and some with a juliette balcony which you basically have room for 1 person to stand only on it. The rooms are dated and they definitely need an upgrade. There is rust and mold in areas of the room. Beds are hard and no fluff on the pillows at all. We still enjoyed our room though, everything worked and the view was the bomb. Food at buffets and alacartes was really good. Lots of choices. Drinks were really good as well with mostly top shelf liqour at every bar. Pool was very clean but a little too cool for my liking. No heaters for sure. Beach was fantastic, soft white sand, turquoise waters and calm. Beach chairs plenty at anytime of day. Huts have to reserve early by 6am. Pool chairs are plenty if you arrive by 8am. I went down once at 8:30am and was lots even than. I would say dont go after 9am and expect a chair. This is a good thing where you dont need to get up at 5am to put out towels. Shows were not great. Disco wasnt bad opens at 11pm. Catamaran cruise sunset was great! UTV tour was excellent Weather was mostly good but the one day we had mostly rain so IT DOES RAIN IN ARUBA. Would I go back yes. Would I go back at the price I paid NO. Bottom line great resort and after the renovations coming soon should be even greater

I wrote this note yesterday. Problem not corrected. We booked the adult only resort and were shuffled to their old building. Even woke up today to no hot water. Good evening all, I want to begin by saying this is our 5th stay at a resort in Aruba. When we looked up all inclusive (specifically wanting adult only), we decided to book with your resort. Before booking, I read some negative reviews , how others ,like us today, were told " there was some maintenance issue etc", so they were shuffled to a SUB PAR resort andnot what they paid for. I thought ah. well, there's always those negative people. Until it happened to US TODAY! First we were told for two nights we had to go to the old non aduly only hotel for various reasons, while we watched others check in AFTER us with no ISSUES. Not only are we NOT getting what we've paid for, it is a MAJOR INCONVENIENCE as it interrupts our settling in and relaxing (isn't that what vacation is all about)?, and our daily plans. IN ADDITION I have cystic fibrosis. A major lung issue. This is my first vacation since the pandemic. In the room we are in tonight, it is so hot and humid, I can barely breath, but I have no energy to move three times! I DEMAND a room change to where we booked. TODAY before noon. I DEMAND that we don't wait between our check out and check in to what we PAID for , and I DEMAND a reduction in our cost for tonight and our inconvenience, I have photos that I took in the lobby of people checking in 2 + hours after our check in with no problem. MAKE IT right, Or I will turn to an attorney and to all avenues of social media avenues. Make it right. How would you feel? You pay a lot of money , that you work hard for, for a steak, and instead get a big mac. Get your act together. You have other resorts being built all around you. I PROMISE you this. Make it right , you will get kudos on social Media. Thank you. And can you please get us some air conditioning in room 665? Paid almost 8,000 for this? REALLY?

We stayed at riu palace the week of January 17th to the 23rd. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our experience was nothing but 5+++ star quality . Everything from the service , the room, views, entertainment, spa, food, restraunts, beach, pool was amazing ! We were greeted by a friendly gentleman named Orlando who quickly took our bags and they popped champagne as a warm welcome . Our room was room 710 perfect view and clean comfortable ambiance. Our room maid kept the room perfect for us each night towel animals and even decorated for my birthday. Inclusive mini bar in fridge stocked upon request with waters, sodas , beers and liquor dispensers. The beach and pool area are amazing ! Had great service at pool by Johanny! Friendly attentive always had our favorite drinks ready and always smiling. Hector the activities director did amazing job at keeping the fun and entertainment exciting and getting everyone involved . Loved the water aerobics and beach party the last night. He even did a shout out for me for my birthday! All the staff and service here is exceptional! Food was the best we ever had everywhere from the breakfast buffets and lunch dinner etc. We ate at steakhouse and our favorite was Sayuri. Had excellent service from Eduardo very nice gentleman and knew a lot of aruba! Sindy at the nighttime buffet was also great! Kept the wine flowing and felt catered to:) antonio great nighttime bar tender for the live entertainment and shows Had the most amazing memorable best spa experience of my life by Farrah. Her warmth and strong hands made me feel totally relaxed and pampered ! Every day was something new to experience in aruba! The beaches are stunning and totally safe to walk from one end to the other . Perfect weather and the most beautiful blue carribean water anywhere. The people on the island are so helpful and nice! Truly is one happy island! Highly recommend staying here at rhe riu palace ! Great for families and couples of all ages ! We met so many awesome people and will cherish our stay here and look forward to coming back to riu palace next time we stay in aruba! The reception desk are friendly courteous and prompt and Orlando was amazing. Even gave us aloe gift set upon departure. The tour people are great in setting up tours through DePalm tours! There is a boardwalk area also to walk from hotel to hotel at the beach and only a five minute walk to shopping and plaza area. Eagle beach also only about a 30 minute walk down the beach or boardwalk. Nearby bird sanctuary and butterfly farm. And 5 minute walk to Fred and Dianna Dutch pancakes near the bird sanctuary! Highly recommend this hotel and all that aruba has to offer !! Thank u so much riu hotel and staff.

I hope everyone finds this review objective: We flew in from NY on Jet Blue. After getting bags at the airport, DePalm Shuttle transported us to the Riu Palace. We arrived earlier than 3pm check in. The front desk staff were fantastic. They check you in and email you when the room is ready. You can begin to use the resort after check in. We were travelling with a total of 8 adults. The overall appearance of the resort is very clean and well maintained. We ate at the buffet for lunch and than proceeded to our room. We were in Room 230. The rooms are outdated and there was a slight musty smell. The room was very clean and our balcony overlooked the pool. The power outlets are few and very outdated, no USB. We requested a king size bed, which was two beds pushed together. I believe the air conditioning system needs to be overhauled to eliminate the humidity in the room. We stayed for 7 nights, eating at Krystal, Milano and Nautilius for dinner. The restaurants were not very good. The selections were limited and quality of the food was less than what we expected. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was wonderful, great selections and great service. We left the resort for dinner to dine at El Gaucho Argentine Grill and Driftwood in Oranjestad. Both were very good, Driftwood was the best meal we had on the island. We also dined at Blossoms and Gianni's Italian Restaurant in Eagle Beach. Both were great. Hints for the Riu Palace: Bring towel clips to reserve beach chairs and palapas. Be on the beach at 6AM to get a spot. The pool is a lively place and many games and entertainment go on all day long. The wind is constant. It keeps the climate comfortable but can get annoying. The staff is amazing and I suggest you tip accordingly. The entire resort is continually cleaned and maintained throughout the day.

We stayed for a week starting January 16. The hotel was full. The staff was amazing, friendly and effective, and the installations and service are great. This is a very large hotel Some tips for future visitors: *Dining*: There are three restaurants, for dinner only, and a large buffet (Don Nicolas) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the restaurants (Italian, Japanese and modern) there are no reservations, and you may have to queue for more than half an hour before opening at 6:30 PM, in order to get a seat. If the restaurant is full they will give you a beeper that will call you when a table is free. In our experience the Italian was so-so, the Japanese good. We did not go to the modern one (Kristal) because the queueing lines were too long. The buffet restaurant, Don Nicolas, has two large seating areas, one inside and the other outside. The temperature in the inside area was too low (about 20 C) for summer clothing. So we did all of our meals in the outside, among the grackles and other birds, which is kind of funny at first but then gets a bit annoying, especially when the birds defecate over seats and peck at plates left on the tables. Food in the buffet was very good to excellent and service is top notch. *The beach*: There are about 100 "palapas" on the beach, palm covers for shadow with a small table. The hotel has a stock of plastic beach recliners, which are distributed by personnel on the beach; and you get plastic cards for one towel for each person. Towels are exchanged for these cards at the side of the pool. If you want to go to the beach, theoretically you go to the hotel beach personnel and ask for your recliners, and the man will take them to a free palapa for you. In practice, in our experience by 6:45 AM almost all palapas were always already "reserved", each with a couple recliners with hotel towels on them. Some people just go to the beach at 6:00 to reserve their palapa, and I believe others just bribe personnel to reserve one for them. In our first day we went to the beach at 9:00 and got two of the latest remaining recliners, which we had to put in a not-very-convenient place. Therefore: if you want the beach, go very early with your towels, before breakfast, and get a palapa. Do not bath in the beach just in front to the hotel. The water is much clearer to your left, in the direction of the blue post that (?) marks tide heights, about where the catamarans and other boats sail from. Remember that you are not permitted to take beach shells out of Aruba; admire them if you like, but leave those shells on the sand. *The pool*: all beach recliners around the pool were always "reserved" with towels and too close together, so we just went to the beach. The pools are not deep (1 m or 1.40 m depth). The section closer to the main building tends to be in shadow and may get too cool for comfort. The section next to the bar is for noise, alcohol and entertainment. *Wind*: Yes you have constant wind in Aruba; most of the time sand does not fly and it is just a pleasant breeze. Buy those plastic pincers to hold your towels and bing hats that will stay on your head with a 30-40 km/h wind surge. *Going to the city and shopping*: If you want to go from the hotel to Oranjestadt, take a taxi. There is a stop for two taxis just in front of the lobby entrance. Fare is 13 USD to the city and 15 USD back. The main shopping area in Oranjestadt is in the waterfront, near the cruise ship harbor, although there are also stores in Main Street. The city is very small and you can walk it easily. The De Palm pier on the beach close to the hotel had good stuff and was not more expensive than the city stores. *Other tours*: in the hotel lobby there are tour operator desks. Tour buses or vehicles will pick you up and leave you back at the hotel. In conclusion: although the hotel was chock full, we enjoyed our stay very much and I want to thank the nice hotel staff for their help.

This place is amazing. From the pick up at the airport to the front lobby Champagne greeting to the awesome grounds. We stayed on the 9th floor center suite overlooking the ocean and main pool area. If your looking for all inclusive with great food and service, this is the place to be. Nothing else comes even close to all that is offered on your package. The day excursions are on the beach and for in town in the main lobby. All the food and drink and service you can ask for with a smile. For those that know... know.. this is the place. 100% great time.

One positive thing I would like to say are the staff were amazing. They gave my baby fresh closed milk from the fridge evert morning, and they all smiled and complemented my kids. The satff and service were a non issue and I would give that a 5 out of 5. That said let move on to the rest of my trip. I stayed at The Riu hotel in Aruba. Given the pictures we saw on the website, we knew we weren't getting luxury, but that was ok because we were vacationing with good company. Upon opening my hotel door, I was immediately hit with the smell of wet must. The room we were given was moldy and during my sleep, it came to my attention that the sheets were dirty and made me itch all over my body the first night until I could request new sheets in the morning. One saving grace since we got there was the food. The first two nights; everything tasted great up until I saw my friends in the morning at the Riu Coffee shop. He asked me if my family was sick, and I said no. he said "We all got sick last night, believing it was from the buffet, my wife's sister's room too. The kids were vomiting all night; my wife couldn't flush the toilet quick enough for diarrhea to go down. We brought pyjamas to last the whole week but we had to use them all last night because the kids kept going diarrhea in bed, If it wasn't poop keeping them up it was vomit. The guy behind us overheard us talking about how sick everyone was getting from eating at this resort and said that his family had experienced it too . The more people we spoke to - the more people we found were suffering from the same thing. By this time we were forced to eat out for the rest of our trip. I spent an extra $1500 to eat outside for the remaining 5 days so my family would not get sick. I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'm here to give you my experience, write a review that wasn't paid for by the Riu or created by a bot, and let you make up your own mind. Do what you wish with this information but don't say when you get there that you weren't warned.

We stayed from January 9-16. This was my first time in Aruba. Not the first time in RIU! I was never a RIU fan but this resort was the worst resort I ever stayed in my life.So dingy and rundown! Rooms with mold, smell, cracked sink, clogged shower and much more! The room was always dirty, cleaning lady was only making vision that she cleaned by make in up the bed,our clothes were constantly wet because they do not have a proper ventilation! The building we stayed in apparently was 40 years old! No hand sanitizers!!!!My family and I only ate at the main buffet and we all got food poisoning with diarrhea and vomiting for 2 days. It happened on the plane on the way home. There were other people and children on the plane with the same symptoms and they all stayed in RIU! This vacation was not cheap! We could of went to some other Caribbean island for less money with better service and amenities. Please do not waist your money on this place! Aruba is a beautiful island with lots of choices! I will definitely return to Aruba! Never again to RIU!
