Nestled in a prime spot close to beaches and nightlife, Barceló Aruba garners praise for its location and the exceptional service provided by its friendly staff. The amenities, especially the beach and pool areas, are highlights, although securing pool chairs can be a challenge.
Guests appreciate the vibrant atmosphere, but the noise level and dated decor receive mixed reviews. Concerns are noted regarding room maintenance and food quality, leading some to question the value for the price paid.

Detailed Reviews
We travel on a family vacation every 2 years (35 Plus people) and just returned from The Barcelo Aruba. I must say the staff at this hotel makes this resort 5 star. We booked directly with the hotel deluxe ocean rooms, after reading reviews and Facebook we learned deluxe pool ocean or ocean front is the better location. Jenny Rodgers Front Desk Manager worked with us to make sure every room was perfect! She personally checked us all in, easiest process we ever had, as we sipped a cocktail. A huge thank you to Jenny you are a absolute sweetheart. The resort is beautiful and location great. Housekeeping, thank you Barbara for a spotless room every day, works hard to make sure guest are safe. Beach chairs are disinfected, wiped down, and set up as you arrive at the beach, I even saw them wiping down hallway walls each day. Jacqueline Van Der Horn thank you for answering every email of questions no matter how silly, Martin Middledorf personally made sure my sisters allergy needs were meet. Nathalia Sanchez worked closely with us, even phoning us from home, to set up every dinner reservation and special request we had. Because of these very dedicated people our family has left this happy island with wonderful memories. We enjoyed the shows each night and the games and dancing at the pool and beach. Food is an individual matter of taste, I especially enjoyed Italian, Japanese, and hibachi. Don't miss the lamb chops or ravioli in Italian and had a delish rib eye in seafood. I'd like to see a place to get snacks (nachos, hot dog, ice cream) in the afternoon other than the buffet when you're wet and sandy to enjoy at the beach or pool side. Closer attention or staff is needed in the afternoon around the pool. Believe me its the guests that let paper cups & masks blow around, spill drinks in & out of pool but this somehow needs to be addressed.
Overall other than all the covid-19 requirements to travel this vacation has been a pleasure and we would enjoy returning.

First and foremost on everyone’s mind is how safe is everything? I can say we tested in CT (didn’t get results in time) and then had to test at airport. With COVID test and carry on bags we were out of the airport within 15 minutes flat! Unbelievable!! Airport is so super efficient. Check in at the hotel was quick and efficient. Because we needed to quarantine our room was available right away. We had results by 8pm (landed at 1:15pm). Had dinner reservations at 8pm which they honored even though we were 15 late for them. Royal service is a must for room service alone! Along with dine in breakfast. My only recommendation is to continue forcing employees to wear masks not below their nose but over it as well. For their own protection. And one other simple change... it was our 15 year anniversary and it would have been very 5* of the hotel to have the bed made up or some fresh fruit waiting in our room or a ballon or SOMETHING special. I eluded to the anniversary on our reservation and that was very disappointing especially when hotels are at 50% capacity in a time where you want us to review and sell the resort as above and beyond. That and some of the staff not adhering to proper PPE wearing contribute to 1* off. Pool was spotless and we felt very safe. Seafood and Asian restaurants were amazing. Italian was the worst for us in terms of staff not wearing masks properly and the food being blah on our opinion. Beach was amazing and couldn’t have asked for a better or safer vacation. We tested negative 24 hours before leaving the island and PCR tested negative 5 days after coming back. We wanted to come back in April, sadly the same room is pricing out over 3500$ more than what we paid this time round so we will likely pass but we had a great time.
Thank you to Doris at the lobby bar, our turn down service attendants, Elena and Erick at the beach bar, and Caesar at the pool bar. franny at the seafood/Mexican restaurants was always a pleasure as well. Thank you all for wearing your PPE properly and for caring so much about our experience!

We went all out on an all exclusive trip for my wife's birthday, and were not disappointed! The food was great, the service was excellent, and the location was sheer perfection. We have never been treated so nicely by staff. By day 2, night bartender knew exactly what to pour me on my way to my room.
There is a car rental inside the hotel ($300 refundable deposit, $160 a day for the 4X4) that we used twice to explore the island. If you want to explore the west side of the island, don't break for the Jeep, as the economy car will do just fine and is cheaper. For the east side on the other hand, the Jeep is a must, and also TONS of fun. The older models are cheaper, and are just as reliable as the new ones.
The food was great, although we were a little surprised to learn about a dress code. We learned that this is more of an Island policy (on the west side, anyway) than a hotel policy. Men, bring your shoes (no flip flops in eating areas) and ladies, bring something to wrap up in when you come from the pool or beach in a bathing suite. The security guards will escort you to your room to change if you do not comply, and this was prevalent at most of the resorts per conversations with other guests. Not a huge deal, because most places will still allow you to dine on an outdoor patio if you only have flip-flops.
We took many adventurous trips on the boardwalk and found lost a great food and drinks on our adventures. I spent every single morning on the peer watching the island come to life. There is a beautiful pool with a swim up bar. People who say the alcohol selection is poor must have some sort of delusional unrealistic expectation. They pour heavy and often, and the selection is vast. Also, there are espresso machines everywhere.
We will be returning to Aruba, and we are so grateful that this resort was able to showcase the kindness and hospitality that the island offers.

years and this is by far this was the WORST hotel experience ever.
We booked this hotel for our honeymoon . We've spent over $5k between plane tickets and all inclusive service. When My husband and I checked into the hotel , we're told that we got upgraded for better room because we are on our honeymoon!!! To find out later that the hotel was overbook and our original booked room was not available . Once we get to the room we found an underwear in my closet!!!!! room was Filthy with dirty windows and dust everywhere. We asked for a different room but nothing was available. The manager later came in to Offer another room that overlooks the parking garage for the same price and with no view of the ocean or even the pool. He also offered us a free complementary breakfast for one day ,To find out later on the day this service was expected . The breakfast was canceled internally due to miss communication!
Any room below 5th floor don't have view of the ocean even if you paid for it . As the restaurant building and the trees cover the view completely.
Food is very mediocre and not all the staff are trained to serve the food . The pasta station was a disaster. Don’t expect fresh fruits to be served to you at any meals because what you are going to get is canned peaches and pars.
If you are looking to sleep late or enjoy the relaxing time at pool you should forget that , Because if you don't get up by 4:30 am to hold or mark your chair by pool with a towel or bag you will spend the day setting on the floor. The same rules Applies to beach seating and umbrellas . Everyday was a scene from the hunger game movie!
Internet is not free and even if you pay for the service is not very reliable.
don't waste your time or money on this place. They've Ruined our honeymoon experience and our first time ever In Aruba.

Dear DiDi5481, We were very disappointed to read about your experience during your stay in our Barceló Aruba hotel, whilst an apology will regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience on this occasion, please believe we do extend it with all sincerity. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the imperfections you describe in your review, all rooms reserved for new arrivals are per standard double checked by our head of housekeeping to ensure that everything is functional and spotless for our guests, clearly we were not performing to our usual standard on this occasion. We have shared your comments with our team to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future. We were very saddened to read your disappointment with our Gastronomy, at Barceló we know that meals are an important aspect of our guests' overall holiday experience; therefore, we will make sure to take your comments into account to improve on this aspect of our services. Regarding our staff, we offer regular training and what you mentioned is not our standard, we have shared your comments with the Executive Chef for revision. About fruits' variety, we offer bananas, apples, watermelon, melon, grapes, pineapple, papaya among others. Moreover, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences with pool chairs. We recommend our guests that if they cannot find chairs they can ask a team member for help. Please be assured that your comments will be taken into serious consideration and that they will help us to improve our services. Once again, thank you for your time and despite the issues you have raised following your stay, we hope that Barceló will remain an option for your next holiday and that we will have the opportunity to restore your faith in our company in the near future. Kind regards, Barceló Aruba Team

First time in Aruba and we decided to join friends on a trip to Aruba and stay At Barcelo the all inclusive resort and we booked the Royale level expecting better liquor as better check in on the 9th floor. We began the trip by a terrible check in. There was only 1 or 2 people to check us in. We all had different reservations but kept trying to hook all our reservations together and charge us together In one bill. They looked confused and we kept telling them we are separate and would like to pay for just our reservation and they said yes but again they were doing. Guess it’s as the saying goes “ you get what you paid for” definitely not an easy smooth check In. We went with the Royale level which includes a better check in/ check out but it was worse than if we were at regular level. The room was beautiful. Would rate cleaning room great. We did have issues again with our meals on level 9 the same day we checked in. There was limited staff and it took over an hr to get what we ordered to us. We got so frustrated that we paid extra for nothing because down stairs they had the buffet available without having to wait that we missed the opportunity. The I tried to speak with the food & beverage manager only to be told this is not a fast food place. To me this is not the right response to give to a first time welcome from a food and beverage manager with a hotel that looked empty on the 9th floor. We can’t certainly expect that from a pace if it was busy. Lots of our other friends had issues on separate occasions with there room keys not working including ours. We also had the housekeeper walk into our room while we were both naked after a shower to change curtains which we did not get any notice about. The higher staff was not apologetic about things and gave the attitude that “You New Yorkers “ so we would only recommend you stay here for the location. Also the drinks were decent since we were at Royale level.

We chose this resort for the reviews on this site. But disappointed with a few things.
This resort itself is beautiful and we traveled with a group of 8. We chose not to indulge in the Royal Club and instead tip well, as usually the workers themselves are the ones that make your vacation memorable. Check in went smoothly, but desk ladies were not overly friendly on our arrival. I did however make our dinner reservations a month ahead and that was essential. The pool or beach lounger "lotto" is what makes a vacation disaster. Getting up at 4:30 to reserve your spot is ridiculous! Not how I wanted to spend a already expensive vacation. The Hilton has assigned palpas and would of loved to enjoyed that. Especially after a few of our loungers was occupied after a quick dip in the ocean. Soooooo, lesson learned. Keep a towel or shirt on your lounger, or it will be quickly snapped up by someone. I did not feel that any employees went out of their way or acted especially friendly. The bartenders at the pool seemed over worked and even large tipping didn't help. (They do keep and eye on color of wristbands). Food was not that good and never seemed to change any variety. One morning we went across the street to Dianas Dutch Pancakes and had an amazing meal and really nice people. Hibachi grill did turn out fantastic and we enjoyed it, but like I said, we made reservations over a month ahead. I will try Aruba again, just not here.

Where do I start. You get 1 hour of free WIFI in the lobby area only. If you pay for WIFI in your room you get a very slow speed and it is only good on one device for the room. So if you have a laptop and phone your are in trouble. The food was of such poor quality that our group went off the property to eat dinner. Entertainment was non-existent. The staff came out for about 20 minutes to play a ring toss game and that was it. No nightly entertainment and the casino was small, smoke filled and the people were pretty rude. If it wasn't for the location and the comfort of the bed I would have given it 1-star.

We stayed from Sunday to Saturday. We were able to have dinner at all of the major restaurants and had breakfast/ lunch at the buffet. There’s just enough options here that you don’t get bored and feel like you’re not eating the same thing every day. I’m not a big drinker so my husband was worried we wouldn’t get my $150 a day out of the place.
I’m not a large person but I certainly enjoyed my fair share of food and I have to admit that the chocolate fountain at the buffet is my favorite part of our vacation! The service is top notch. Everyone from the door man, security guards, maids and servers are super friendly. The beach is gorgeous and has very smooth sand (this is a plus because the resort next door has rocks all through the sand and trust me, it’s not foot friendly. The rooms are nice. I wouldn’t say they are 5 star rooms but honestly, besides sleeping and showering, you really aren’t in the room too much...so I’ll let the outdated decor and leaky faucets go. What the rooms lack in classy upgrades the resort makes up for it with amazing people, pristine beach and great food! You won’t be disappointed with this all inclusive.
I’m not a large person but I certainly enjoyed my fair share of food and I have to admit that the chocolate fountain at the buffet is my favorite part of our vacation! The service is top notch. The best vacation and relaxation you’ll ever have is at Barcelo Aruba. During this crazy Covid, we decided we were still going to Aruba in October. We felt very comfortable with the idea that we had to be tested 72 hours before getting on the plane so that all the rest of the people on the plane were tested as well. Arriving at the airport getting our luggage getting into our van was a breeze. All the workers at the airport as well as ourVan driver were wearing masks.
Arriving at the Barcelo was heavenly. We went straight up to the world club and met with Sandra whom we love so much. Room wasn’t quite finished so we went for lunch and by the time we were finished we were in our room unpacking.Once again everyone was wearing a mask that work there and we felt very safe and comfortable.
Our room was immaculate and they even left us hand sanitizer as well as masks for our use. Every worker at the hotel is definitely very conscious of Covid so they never remove their masks and wash their hands constantly.
The restaurants were all open with different timings and days off so please contact the hotel to find out what days each will be open and what times. We ate at all our favorites and the food was excellent. Our most favorite probably is the royal club because of George. We have so much fun when we are there because of him Joyce and Sylvester are so very nice to us as well. In fact everyone in the Royal club, they make you feel like you are family and you’re right at home there.
The beach is wonderful with plenty of room to social distance. Plenty of palapas as well as chairs. The water is warm and you can see all the little fish.
The casino is open and I have to say the machines are doing much better this year than the past few years. They have all new machines
Overall, our week went by way too fast. We can hardly wait to return next year.

Melissa Front desk supervisor is the worst!!! She isn’t aware of Barcelo policy and procedures. And it took 40 mins to check in. The room 1315 was a view of the parking lot and the Hilton’s pool. We were assisted by Jenny whom didn’t do much better in accommodation room 1623 slight view of the ocean moreso the parking lot an d roofs. STAY at the RUI Palace This hotel is small the rooms are small the bathroom is small and the balcony is even smaller. Not the descriptive on the website. Soooo many bug bites within mins at the beach. What a waste of money, for only $200 more a stay at the Rui Palace. This place isn’t deserving of the US Dollar. We missed the sun on the first day although we arrived at 2:30pm. Plus when it rains the Barcelo staff just throw towels down and leave them there. COVID!!!!!!!!

Dear decsnyc, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday at our Barceló Aruba hotel, please rest assured that your comments have been taken onboard and revised by the entire Management team. It is also with great concern that we have read your comments on our reception team; please be assured that your comments have been shared with the concerned managers so they can make the appropriate adjustments in the areas you mentioned. We are sincerely sorry to read your dissatisfaction with the view from your room; however, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify that we allocate our rooms in accordance with the room category for which you can find a thorough description with pictures on our website, rooms with sea views are usually rooms of a higher category than standard rooms; for a future occasion, we strongly recommend to contact our call center from where our agents will be able to give you all the relevant information on the hotel of your choice to make sure that you book the accommodation type that best meets your holiday needs and wishes. Moreover, about the incident with towels you mentioned, this is not our standard and we have shared your comments with our Housekeeping department to take corrective measures. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope to turn your experience around before the end of your stay with us. Kind regards, Barceló Aruba Team

West Yorkshire, United Kingdom48 contributions44 helpful votesAre there sun beds on the beach for the use of hotel guests or do you have to pay for them. Also, are there beach towels?
Thx
all included and served as you step on the beach
Sure they do
one room sleeps 4. Are bringing 12 people?
Hmmm. Separate eatery. Now i is all bleared out
No actual designated smoking areas, there are plenty outside zones with suitable bins/ashtrays for cigarette ends. You can also smoke on your room balcony. The only beer on draught I seen was the local brand Balashi.
