Detailed Reviews
Wasn't sure how traveling during the pandemic would be but it was so worth the hoops my wife and I had to jump thru to get there.
First of all, you must register online, just Google Aruba, and it will take you there. You will need a covid test no more than 72 hrs before departure. We found a Walgreens near us that sent us our results in about 5 hours, I downloaded to the before mentioned Aruba site, and instantly we had our "approval" certificates, allowing us to board the plane to Aruba. Upon landing, we had to show a copy of our negative Covid test and we were on our way.
The Ocean Club was wonderful! It was maybe 1/2 full so very easy to get a place by the pool or ocean. We chose the ocean everyday. We opted to not pay the $10/day Palapa fee because we like to worship the sun, so we went with the free loungers that were santized by Marriott staff and positioned ocean front for us.
Took a Taxi to the grocery $10 there, $12 back and loaded up on Spirits, breakfast and lunch food. Everything is expensive on the island so we felt this saved us some money.
We had a 1 bedroom with full kitchen. It was recently redecorated and looked brand new. The entire property looked new. They said they were still doing some work but I think it was just down to final painting or something in a couple 1st floor rooms. We heard/saw zero construction going on. Staff were all great and very accommodating. Towels were easy to get, pools closed at 7 but we used the hot tub later than that and no one ever said anything. We ate at their sports bar a couple times but had most of our dinners at other restaurants, all within a short walk of the resort.
Mask had to be worn inside, some, including us, would wear theirs outside as well until we got to our loungers. Hand sanitizing was encouraged everywhere inside and was stationed everywhere on the property. Elevators limited to 1 at a time, unless it was related folks.
I would not hesitate to return to this beautiful property!

First off the renovations at the Marriott are so modern and stunning. They did a wonderful job with all the up dating on an older property. The rooms were equipped with starter coffee, plus filters, hand wipes, shampoo and conditioner, soap, dishwasher soap, and a roll of paper towels. Accommodations were excellent. They were able to give us an 11 AM check out which was helpful. 10 AM is early when you have a 4:00 flight. Beautiful views from the rooms and the rooms were very quiet.
Check in took longer then normal...but the lady who checked us in was helpful and very friendly.
The most annoying feature of the hotel is that there are only certain times to secure a palapa. It was even more annoying that you could ONLY do it from your room. We tried to reserve one for the next day at 2:15 for a $40 palapa and were told we had to wait till 3 to do it and we could only call from our room! So if we wanted to do that we would have had to waste 45 minutes in our room waiting to call! The other annoying thing was there was a charge for all palapas whether you were in the first row or last. Shame on you Marriott. Just add an activity fee rather then this nuisance.
Beach was kept clean and they were playing bingo at the pool. I didn’t feel like there was social distancing at the beach. Palapas were occupied one next to the other. Inside the hotel it was mandatory to wear a mask...outside no one wore masks. Very limited beach “service”.
Another annoying thing was we wanted to call the Ritz which is right next door and part of the Marriott system and they charged our room $5 for a phone call.
The water and beach are beautiful but small. Close access to lots of shops and restaurants. You lots of options for happy hour .

The Marriott Ocean Club is a beautiful property, and the rooms are newly renovated. We have stayed here many times in the past, and I have nothing but positive things to say about this property except for one thing....the hut reservation policy. It has always been and continues to be a tedious and convoluted process. In the past, guests would begin lining up at 6:15 AM to secure a hut. It is slightly different now. Now you either have to keep track of the time to reserve specific huts between 2:00 and 3:00 (not all huts), or call at 7:00 AM for other huts. Good luck with that. Imagine every guest who wants a hut calling at 7:00 AM. Ridiculous. The solution is so simple. Like Surf Club next door, make the huts complimentary on a first come, first serve basis. Consider that your guests are either loyal Marriott patrons who have bought or earned points, or they are guests who, in most cases, are paying $500+ per night. Securing a hut free of hassle should be a perk for guests. We stayed at Surf Club recently and getting a hut each day was simple and stress-free. Another solution would be to allow guests to reserve a hut online. Again, this is a beautifully well-managed property, but hope to see the hut reservation process improved or eliminated. Your guests are here to relax. 😀

We spent a week here in May 2021.
I'm going to list the general pros and cons and then give my personal opinion
Pros
Excellent Staff professional, Friendly and Attentive
Room was very nice
Excellent Wifi
Nice View if you lean out of the balcony
Cons
Covid was going on, They were not cleaning rooms, if you wanted your room cleaned they would charge you. Change of towels, garbage collection all had to be requested. Had stayed the week before at Eagle Beach, that hotel have full cleaning every second day towel exchange every other day. Conclusion Marriott decided to use covid to save money. BAD MANAGEMENT
Check out is 10AM Housekeeping that didn't exist the entire week starts banging on your door at 9AM Conclusion Bad Management
Having hustled you to leave at 10AM one staff member at reception causing long lines. Conclusion Bad Management
The restaurants are sub par, notably the sushi restaurant at the sister Marriott next door, if I had stopped at a gas station in Kansas and bought sushi would have expected better
This location has the staff, location and buildings to be a 5 star resort, let down by poor management decisions

As I prepare to leave for home after 9 days here in Aruba I can tell you several things. First it is completely safe- Marriott exceeds country requirements for Covid and keeps everything extremely sanitized and enforces social distance protocol. I never felt safer. Putting that aside, the pristine beaches, wonderful property amenities and delicious good are just awesome. Most important are the people. This is my 6th year here and come for the people alone. Starting at the Antilles Beach bar, Siri, Deborah, Julie and Nicole in the gift shop made us feel appreciated and like family. At the Malmok Eatery, Wilma, Ferdie, Edward, Maximo and Bianel made us feel like a home away from home. Lastly, Alix, Sandra, Jayna, Romulous, Thess and Daniel kept our nights smooth and comfortable. Amy Soriano singing was the cherry on top. If you are hungry , plenty of places to eat that are top notch. Atardi, Malmok Eatery, Ruths Chris were perfect. At the Ritz Carlton , BLT and Casa Nonna were amazing.
I am sad to leave these wonderul friends and amazing island but we will be back. If you are considering a trip here. Look no further. This is the place to be

First timer to Aruba. This is getting to the end of my second week here and having a great time. We are in a 2 bedroom on the fifth floor (5512/5513). Another couple were to join us but backed out so we are here alone. We were supposed to move to an ocean front from our ocean view for the second week but stayed in this room as the view is quite good. Rooms have recently been renovated to make them more modern and are nicely done, as you would expect from Marriott. The bathrooms are large, kitchen compact but everything you need and functional.
The staff have been great and we feel very safe here.
We will be here for another 4 weeks and moving to a 1 bedroom. Hopefully on this floor to make move easier or with any luck staying in this room and locking it off. Will give another review on that room if much different.
We have used the grills for cooking some meals and they are well lit and nice to use.
Lots of restaurants within walking distance with reasonable prices including in the other Marriott properties.
They have a lot of stores between the properties with nice merchandise again at reasonable prices.
The beach is great and lovely warm water. Pools are clean with staff disinfecting loungers and tagging them.
.Renovation of rooms is still on going but it hasn't created any noise or other issues with us or anyone we have talked to.
Rented a car for driving around to see sights and do snorkelling at different ares. I would recommend that even for just a few days. Taxi costs can add up and it is easy to drive here. I used YESS Rental and it was clean, good condition, quickly processed and they picked it up from the Marriott after a 3 day rental with no extra charge

If I was the Marriott legal department I would be terrified right now. This past week the management and staff of the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club displayed open anti-semitism. A large group of Jewish owners visited as they do every year, and management instituted new rules that applied only for this week. This was not just staff members choosing to be rude or unhelpful (which also happened), but rather actual policies instituted by management. One example is that the hotel did not provide clean towels to the guest (unless you wanted to pay $5 each), whereas the week before towels were provided free, because made services is not available. The staff also set up steel barriers around certain amenities such as the pool bar, Malmok Restaurant, and the hot tub, which were not there the week before the group arrived, and no doubt will soon be removed. The staff left bags of garbage outside in the hallway for many hours without picking it up. The general tenor of staff in all areas of the property ranged from contempt to harassment. I personally witnessed a pool attendant in a Marriott shirt scold a parent for allowing their 2-year child to spoon water from the pool into a bucket (the explanation given was that this might empty the pool). Staff at the Surf Club were physically chasing guests around the lazy river pool if they were not holding onto a tube in 3 feet of water. I encourage Marriott legal to investigate the policies it allowed its management to undertake during this week, as it was no coincidence that these policies were put into place just for the week that this Jewish group visits. Timeshare owners deserve better!

Pros
Pool service was fantastic
Room was updated and really nice
Beach and pool is right there and really really nice
Cons
Poor service did not want to do a towel exchange but reluctant did it
hallway to room smelled so bad every single day I was thinking it was the trash shoot but it Should not have been every day.
Food was absolutely horrible from champions resteraunt and stupid expensive. Thank god we had our own kitchen. But a chicken sandwich Was 17 dollars and they burnt it twice the second time we just tried to eat it. Rueben was just as bad.
Gift shops are way overpriced. A drinking cup was 40 dollars when to plaza shopping and found one for 15.
Even though food was horrible and knowing that anything you need to buy away from resort I would still go back for the pool and the beach.

We picked the Ocean Club over the Stellaris because we were traveling with our 3 children and thought they would have more fun for the family at a vacation club. Well that wasn't the case at all. The boys couldn't jump in the pool or play catch with a ball in the pool. Why do they then sell balls in the gift shop? The couples next to us even questioned the security guard and said that we weren't bothering them. There were a few times the security guard who monitors the pool area wrongfully accused my children for doing something they didn't even do then admitted he had the wrong kids. I didn't go on vacation to get yelled at and told what not to do. Vacation clubs are suppose to be family orientated and fun, right?
The customer service is beyond pathetic. It appeared to me that not one staff member we came encounter appeared to like their job because they never smiled and there never was an urgency to provide service to customers. Don't they realize when people are on vacation they like to tip when they received great customer service? One would think! We had to walk down to the Stellaris to their restaurant Waves or La Vista (Pope Francis was great!) to get treated like you are suppose to when you are a paying customer.
When you look forward to your first visit to what is suppose to be "one happy island" it is a complete disappointment when it doesn't turn out as hoped. We have stayed at many many Marriott vacation clubs thru the years and this by far was the most disappointing. If you kids want to swim at night, pack beach towels since you have to return yours by 7pm every night. If you don't want to wash your bath towels, bring them too. Note: the washer and dryer are NOT located in your room. All which I didn't know until I arrived....UGH!!

Overall the location of the property is great. The beach is beautiful. Getting a beach chair is fairly easy as long as you make your reservation from your room each day.
The individuals at the towel hut are some of the rudest customer service people I've ever met. Make sure you get your towels in the morning as by 1 p.m. or at the latest 2 p.m. they will run out of towels for the day. This is normal and every day. We were unaware and made the mistake the first day of returning our towels after the beach and going down later to get more for the pool This caused people to have to take their dirty towels back to their room if they thought they might come back to the pool after lunch. Then you return your towels and give them the room number and 50% of the time they will mark you off the list correctly. The rest of the time they will grill you that you did not return your towels the day before, which we always did. They were so mean to our daughter that was all she talked about all night.
The pool was interesting. You throw a small nerf football with your 3 year old in a section of the pool only you are in and security will stop you, no balls allowed in the pool (although it was not listed on the posted pool rules). But when people are so drunk they are dropping and throwing their beer cans in the pool that is fine. Overall the pool area did not seem kid friendly.
Whatever questions you had a the front desk, the individuals at the desk were always polite, but the answer was always a very polite no. While it was never stated directly no that was the answer.
The room we had was good. There was only one large tub in the two bedroom unit which was less than ideal with small children. The space was good and we have no direct complaints on the room. When things weren't working in the room, housekeeping/maintenance would respond fairly quickly (30 minutes to 2 hours).
If they fix the issues at the pool area and towel hut the resort could be excellent.
