Absolutely amazing stay at this gem in Old Havana. Through an unsuspecting brown door at street level you are guided up to a beautiful restaurant and terrace where the hosts will give you the lay of the land. Our room was so charming and the bed comfortable. The location is spot on and walking distance to all the sights. This place oozes character and charm and gave us such a more memorable experience than a normal hotel. The breakfast is abundant and fresh everyday and we looked forward to it every morning, sitting on the terrace watching the daily life zoom past below. Despite its location in the heart of Old Havana, in the night it was quiet and peaceful. The only small negative is a slight smell from the plumbing but when you are staying in older renovated buildings such as this it is normal, and didn’t bother us.
What makes this place extra special is the wonderful people who work there, like Chris who helped organize everything and made us feel so comfortable

This little hotel does everything right! Richard & his staff went out of their way to provide advice, recommendations, book transport etc. They made my stay in Havana very efficient. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. All rooms have windows (with shutters) and balconies which allows for great airflow. Note that a lot of small hostals/B&Bs in the old centre have only interior windows. The breakfast is about 4 or 5 courses, and beautifully prepared and presented. The location was fantastic, walking distance to all the main sites in the old city. But most of all the staff (Chris, Johan, Jose) all seem to really care about providing the very best service!

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely boutique hotel. The staff is very friendly, warm and helpful and do their best to make you feel at home. The hotel is a very beautiful, authentic colonial building. Rooms are big, clean and lovely with windows that open to the streets of Habana Vieja. Breakfast is amazing, with fresh fruit juices, the best coffee, omelettes, etcetera, while sitting on the balcony, seeing daily life passing by. Also their cocktails are great! The only minor improvement we can think of is adding a few places in the room, e.g. in the bathroom, where you can put your stuff. All in all we very much recommend staying in this hotel, it is a wonderful experience.

We stayed here 4 nights on the first part of our trip to this fascinating country. As country dwellers we found the sights and non-stop sounds of Habana vieja initially somewhat bewildering and this place is right in the middle of it. We won't repeat what others have said about the fabulous staff, welcoming attitude and nice breakfasts as it's all true. As a helpful comment for possibly older travellers there are steep stairs up to the reception and rooms, and the street outside can be noisy at night so earplugs might come in handy. Overall this is a place to experience Havana in the raw. It's safe and so much more authentic than the sterile city centre hotels. PS: They serve cocktails in teapots with a straw!

I couldn't make a better choice. The interior and rooms had lots of charme, I immediately fell in love with. The breakfast was more than I could ever ask for and when you order a cocktail in the evening you won't be disappointed. The staff made my stay really exceptional. They are very helpful and good to talk to. It was very fun when staying at the hotel. The Hostal has a very central location in Old Habana to get to the most important sights in walking distance.

A big thank you to all of the crew for having me, it has been a real pleasure!

If you want to stay in the middle of the pure Havana, and a step from everything you need to see and breathe in Cuba’s Capital, you must stay here!
Hostal Balcones Muralla is a warm place, with lots of energy and spirit around.
The place have a special old and fine look, and nice balconies too, around the main rooms, and the bar/check in area. Really Caribbean, really traditionally with paintings and old fine furniture.
The rooms are fine, some have balconies, where you can sit and enjoy the life of Havana, passing through.
The staff is absolutely friendly, and being a traveler, I think I haven’t seen anything like this service. The staff can help you with almost everything, and also have time to help, and chat with you, if you need anything, or just want to enjoy the moment, being there and to hang around. Combined, the staff knows a good part about Havana, and can also help you book a tour/taxi, for a trip or your further travel in Cuba.
I would definitely go again!

Richard, Cris, Yamiley and the team of Hostal Balcones Muralla went above and beyond in making sure we saw the very best of what Havana has to offer; showing us around town, acting more as friends than hotel staff, preparing vegan breakfast (upon request). These people were the highlight of our Cuba trip! The vintage cuban style rooms were lovely, ours had an elevated bathtub and balcony from where you could people-watch. They've put all their heart into the restoration of the house, we were very impressed. All in all an amazing experience, with people who made us feel like friends from minute one!

We don’t know where to start: from the breathtaking renovated accommodation, the location in the center of old Habana where you can enjoy the flair, sound and every days live of the inhabitants and the gentleness of the entire staff. Our room was unique in design as every other room, the equipment simple but comfort and cleaness was fantastic. A special thank to Jose and Chris for your kind help with recommendations for Habana, restaurants and the arrangement of our pre-booked chaotic agency transfer. The breakfast was the tastiest one trough our trip in Cuba. A special compliment once again to the chef and to the host who had prepared the new years dinner.
We felt like being part of the big Hostal Balcones Muralla family!

When in Havana stay at Hostal Balcones Muralla. This small inn is playfully furnished with eclectic antiques and mismatched china. Best of all are the super friendly and hospitable Cubans who run the place. Included in the price, the multi-course Breakfasts are lovingly prepared and artfully presented. Best cocktails ever! Sip a mojito from a teapot while you watch the street life from the balcony.

We chose the Hostal Balcones based on the excellent, rave reviews - and they were accurate. The 1896 historic building itself is amazing. Add in the staff especially Christopher and Jose and how could we go wrong.
The chef went to great lengths to make us an exquisitely presented, delicious vegan breakfast on the balcony. She invited me into her kitchen to view her huge collection of teapots.
I loved the antiques everywhere, the 12’ high ceilings, the spacious rooms. The shower looked antique also, but worked just fine.
We would return, of course, and hope to see our new friends again. Thank you for a great location and a wonderful experience!

To be honest all the rooms are noisy as Old Havana is a noisy area. Also, when we stayed there, it was just us and one other guest so it's hard to tell how noisy it gets when the hotel is full. The taxi that the hotel arranged for us was 30 EUR. The driver waited for us at the airport. You need to tell them your flight number etc. Hope this helps!

Hi the Odalys room I think would be a double. We didn’t stay in this room but we were shown it while there so from memory .. Not sure about the other room. The laudelina room is definitely honeymoon worthy though. Xx
