Amazing property. I was with a group from the US and we all really enjoyed our stay. Incredibly nice hosts that went out of their way to take care of us. The restaurant was one of the highlights of the trip. Amazing food and beautiful space to eat. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this place.
This unique property and the people that make it run captures the heart of the Cuban spirit. Being in a foreign country and not speaking the language or understanding the ways can potentially cause a stressful visit. From the moment we stepped onto the property we felt at ease with our first visit to Cuba. From the sweet girls at the front desk, the wonderful drink/coffee makers and waitresses in the restaurant, to the night gate keeper and the lovely owner, who shared so much history with us and was very kind in helping us try to understand Cuban currency, everyone we encountered was a delight. English communication was excellent. The grounds of the property were dreamy and gives you an old world feel with modern conveniences. We stayed in the penthouse room which had an amazing view of Havana. The AC units upstairs and down worked wonderfully. We always had a good stream of hot water. We experienced no blackouts here like we did in other places of the area. The Wi-Fi was spotty as this is an issue in Cuba, but they tried to keep it going for us. (My husband was not able to run his business from Cuba so make sure you’re fully aware of the internet situation before you visit.) The staff was very helpful with calling taxis for us and taught us how to use the group Whats app for taxi service which was extremely useful once you figure it out. Taxis going to and from the downtown area of Havana, which is about 15 minutes away, should be around $6, they will try to charge you $20-30 unless you use the Whats app group. Ask the owner about money exchange if you have questions, it’s not easy to understand and you can be taken advantage of if you are unsuspecting, however, every place we visited accepted our American dollar. We found a favorite restaurant for a few special date nights, Los Mercaderes is a wonderful place with rich history and must visit for world traveling foodies. Havana itself felt safe but you do have to watch people trying to take advantage to get money. It is desperate times for them so a lot of citizens are in survival mode. One other tip, if you visit Havana, bring everything you need with you. You wont be running to the corner drug store to pick up items you forgot to bring. It’s very different from any country we’ve visited. I would not hesitate to stay at this beautiful property. The hotel and the staff are now part of our wonderful memories of our first visit to Cuba. Thank you!…
The hidden jewel is the name of LA ROSA DE ORTEGA B&B. Placed in a local neighborhood in the Havana, Vibora area. What a beautiful place, surrounded of beautiful people, rich food and super positive vibes. I highly recommend this place to whoever is interested in having a great time. This place is highly elegant, friendly and private. You will get the taste and the treatment of Royalty. I am coming back soonnnn…
I have stayed here twice, also for a bit longer. La Rosa de Ortega is the pure oasis in Havana, beautiful, lush, green, peaceful, decorated with love and a lot of taste - and the most amazing people! I have made friends with the owners as well as with the staff, and it will be my pleasure to always return and visit them! Ever single one warm and welcoming and an own character. I sometimes felt like I was living in a novel... This being said, also for a short stay to catch some air, for a romantic getaway or just a stylish place to stay with great food - La Rosa de Ortega is for you! I smile every time a remember the place.
We stayed here for one night on arrival into Havana. The hotel was fantastic very friendly great home-cooked food and a relaxing quiet spot just outside Havana. I would definitely recommend a stay here
I visited La Rosa de Ortega as part of a group and had a wonderful time there. Our hostess Julia was so warm, kind, open, and felt like she was welcoming us home. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The pool, dining, and spa area were so gorgeously designed and the inside of the house was like a set from a 1930s movie: so elegant and retro. Next to the spa there's a beautiful view over all of Havana!
Was staying across the street and visited the restaurant at La Rosa De Ortega several times - food and service by Julia and her staff was outstanding! The fish ceviche and octopus cooked in a little terrine were my favorite!
I had stayed here in September 2019 with my boyfriend, and cannot stop raving about how beautiful and amazing this place is. I had traveled to Cuba before, and wanted to stay here for the longest, and I am so happy that I did. This place is not only beautiful, but there's so much character everywhere you look. The staff is absolutely amazing and kind, truly pleasant. From the moment we arrived, they helped with our luggage, as well as settling in and making us feel home. It's very rare to travel the world and feel as if you're home, and this place did just that. The food is fresh and delicious (some of the most fresh fruits I have ever had), the drinks are fresh as well (thanks to Cecilia) and the rooms are so comfortable and clean! The owners are always there to help you with anything, and are there to assist you in booking anything too! This truly was an incredible experience that I'll never forget. Thank you to the staff who treated us so well. I appreciate you. Gracias por todo! Los aprecio.…
We just got back from our holiday in Cuba and I have to say our stay at Rosa Ortega was the highlight of our trip. Mr. George was the first to greet us and made every effort to see that we were welcome and to enjoy our stay. Having a personal chef and staff to take care of every need was a treat for sure. If we wanted a taxi service they organized it, dinner out, they gave us lots of places to choose from in the area. Anna (The manager) saw that we were there during my wife's birthday and went and picked up a cake for her. And we were able to share with the other guests. A little piece of paradise, and a touch of class sums this place up. You will not be disappointed. If you do book this place please bring a Toronto Blue Jays ball cap for Mr. George.
An incredible experience for your stay in La Havana! Service is just perfect. Ana is an incredibly warm and hearty, and so professional and efficient. She, and all other staff too, will do all they can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms are large and immaculate, and well furnished with towels and toiletries. You can get food and drinks any time during the day, in a cosy dedicated area in the garden. Breakfast is awesome and a very good deal. WiFi is free (for real, no need for an Etecsa WiFi card as in any other casas in Cuba) and dorks well most of the time. Don’t forget you are in Cuba... The pool area is nice and relaxing after a long walking day in La Havana. The casa is not in the historical district. It was not a problem for us as we had a rental car and the city center is quite easy to commute with plenty options to park. At the casa, we could park just in front of the entrance in the street, the usual way all around in Cuba. We made two stops at the casa during our round-trip in Cuba, and both were simply perfect. All in all, you get similar service just like in a high-rated 4-stars hotel, with the extreme pleasure to stay in a typical Cuban casa, and of course at much affordable prices. Don’t hesitate a minute!…
