As a woodworker, loved the expansive use of hardwoods. My wife and baby also like the spaciousness of the rooms and the staff was very friendly and kind to us, with opening doors and lending help even fixing natural fresh squeeze juice for our 9 month old. I hope they reuse the- now hard to get and expensive hardwoods by...

The hotel needs a renovation (it may have been great 30 years ago). Rooms are horrible, full of dust, carpets full of stains and not even attached to the floor anymore. Wall papers are full of stains, furniture is old. And I've seen many rooms. You can't open the window and there's no air circulation in the halls as well....

I have stayed at much, much worse for much more money...especially in the Caribbean. If faded grandeur is what you want this is your place. The hotel was empty so I guess I was given one of the balcony rooms overlooking the Malecon. It was huge. Everything worked-- TV, WiFi, Shower, AC (with a vengeance). Absolutely no complaints. It would...

I was booked there for my business stay in Santo Domingo. Large outdated business place, full of local visitors, in conference and the like. OK but need some modernization and far from Old City. I would have prefer a renovated old Inn downtown.

The hotel was nearly empty when I stayed and I enjoyed the peacefulness. The staff was fantastic with a special mention to Sr. Martinez. The pool was empty and a lovely place to relax. HOWEVER, the place is falling apart, haha. Virtually everything is in need of a serious upgrade. For this reason, it is way too expensive for what...

Decent stay but I wouldn't call it an overly fancy place. Service though was very good (turning down the beds with chocolates at night was a nice touch) and the on-site helipad was convenient. The pool is very large and deep (maybe not so great for little kids though). Rooms were large but tired looking.

I have never been at a hotel of such low standard .... Music blasting at midnight , and no compassion for other guests....... Even calling and asking politely to tone it down did not help. I stayed here several times 8 years ago. But things has surely changed for the worse.

The Hotel Santo Domingo is the westernmost of a number of up-market hotels along the Malecón, west of Santo Domingo’s centre and is more economical than most of the others. These hotels target business travelers and participants of conferences, symposia and special events (business as well as private functions) held on their premises. The generous size of rooms, equipped with...

I am considering a trip to Santo Domingo, a city I haven't visited in 25 years. I used to vacation in the city several times a year; Hotel Santo Domingo, then a brand new property owned by Gulf + Western, was my favorite hotel. It was one of the first hotels built in "native decor" and the staff was charming....
