The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real has been closed for several months, however, they continue to sell it as if it were still open. We made a reservation months ago for a stay in January 2021. We were nervous to travel during a pandemic, but we decided to trust their website and the measures they were claiming to be taking to keep their guests safe. Since we were traveling with young kids and wanted to bring extra food and snacks with us, we decided to call the hotel a week before our arrival to find out more about what they had in the room. Thank goodness we called because that is when we were told that we were being “upgraded” to a completely different hotel. Even though that other hotel (the Grand Reserve) was located within their property, this other one is much farther from the beach. We had actually looked at that other hotel prior to finalizing our plans, but we did not like the set up nor the distance from the beach. We made a reservation that would allow us to be alone with our kids and avoid being in close proximity to other guests while at the hotel. Having stayed at this same hotel several times in the past, we were very strategic with the room that we booked and were willing to pay more to have peace of mind. But they were never going to honor their commitment to us and, when we confronted them about it, they did not own up to it. We understand that the hospitality industry has had to make certain cuts during this pandemic, but if they had reached out to us in a timely manner and explain the situation, it would have been a different story. I cannot believe that they continue to sell a hotel that is closed indefinitely. This should not be allowed.…
Special thank you to Edison bartender. His drink very so delicious and well presented. Great massages were received by Matilda. Thank you for the service by Lexinton, Domingo and others. I like to spend my vacation at Reserve.
Having just returned home yesterday, this Hotel is only offering 30% of it's amenities No casino, 2 or 3 of it's restaurants only open, very little entertainment, limit of only 2 cans of beer in mini bar daily, cold food, complain????? they do not care because they have had your money, do not stay here as you are not getting what you are paying for!
This is one of those cases where you really wish zero stars could be granted to a business. If you travel to Paradisus Palma Real, please be prepared to deal with constant harassment within the resort and beach. There are literally dozens of illegal vendors everywhere offering people drugs and other illegal items. All of this as the resort staff/tourist “police” take bribes (literally, in front of you) and turn a blind eye. The quality of entertainment and food are beyond underwhelming, especially when compared to similarly-priced resort chains (i.e.: Excellence Resorts or Iberostar). The rooms are in very poor condition as well, with rust being present throughout most metallic items, including outside tub. The staff is rude and under-trained, again, especially when compared to the performance you find at comparably-priced resorts in the Punta Cana/Ubero Alto region. My one (and only) trip to this awful place ended on the second day. My fiancé and I had a nonrefundable reservation; this experience was so traumatic and disappointing that we decided to book a vacation on the fly for the remainder of our stay in the Dominican republic — at a resort we knew and away from this awful place. We ended up spending an extra $2200 to make the change, but it was money well spent to leave this place! Our advice is simple. Stay away at all costs; the experience and value at competitively-priced chains in the area is so overwhelmingly better.…
Just thought I should let people know the Reserve is currently closed. If you are booked here, you will be moved to the Grand Reserve next door. The Palma Real is also closed for another week, and the Reserve won't be open until sometime in the new year. I had read about this in another review so had emailed the hotel a week before my arrival asking if the Reserve is open, and got a non-commital answer. Had I known we would be moved to the Grand Reserve, I might have changed my reservation as I specifically wanted to return to the Reserve. Allowing bookings for a hotel that is closed is bait and switch. Otherwise, the Reserve is a nice resort - I posted a review of it last year that you can find through my profile.
