The setting was magnificent with a private balcony and tropical gardens. there was an outdoor kitchen area with a microwave and fridge. The staff was very helpful, especially Stephanie, who was so patient and friendly. The only negative was that we had to drive everywhere: no shops, beaches, restaurants within walking distance. A map showing nearby businesses would have been most helpful as we had never been there before.
Beautiful setting. The pools and views are stunning, but I think it was a different hotel before the pandemic. The breakfast was disappointing, no bar area, you can't even buy bottled water. It is just a hotel. If you are after solitude in a beautiful setting, then The Amaudo is for you.
Having read all the reviews of this hotel I was expecting great things. And some were absolutely incredible. The rooms and the setting of this hotel is outstanding and very little compares to anywhere else Ive stayed. However i was underwhelmed by the breakfast and the lack of general facilities ie getting lunch or a drink on site. Everything like this required a 3 mile journey which become an inconvenience. I eventually became to realize this place as the most beautiful apartment you could ever stay in. But a hotel, as i understand them, this it’s not.
For the second part of our Guadeloupe trip, we moved hotels from one in Trois Rivières to The Hotel Amaudo so as to experience the eastern side of the island. Wish we had moved sooner. The room was immaculate, tastefully decorated, had everything we needed (including a fridge, safe, dishes, silverware, etc), and opened up to a private infinity pool with a stunning view of the bluest of waters. What made the hotel special, though, were the people working there. Without exception, we were met with warms smiles and friendly greetings, whether at the tasty breakfast, reception, bringing us extra towels or just walking around the beautiful grounds. I had a bit of a medical issue that needed immediate attention, and Philippe, the owner, personally spent 30 minutes working the phones with his assistant trying to find a doctor who could see me (no small feat, as it was lunchtime and everything closes in Guadeloupe in the early afternoon). Philippe was not only attentive, he was engaging and personable as we shared travel histories. Really an excellent stay. Thank you the Hotel Amaudo!…
The owner was extremely helpful during difficult times in March 2020. The views from the room are beautiful, the garden well kept. Breakfast was served at the table. We got recommendations and all we needed to make our stay as easy as possible. The area is very calm, not touristy like other nearby neighborhoods, including a mostly deserted long wild beach.
What an unbelievable hotel with truly amazing views of the sea. The decor, food, ambiance and professionalism of the team is first rate. The best hotel we've ever stayed in, around the Caribbean. You need a car to explore this island. Honore was a buzz to see where they film " Death in Paradise". I don't think it's shown in France We stayed here a few weeks ago and had to experience lock down in Guadeloupe. Lucile was so caring, understanding and helpful towards us with this global disaster that undoubtedly will hit the business. In the the words of a famous actor " We will be back"
I don’t even want to say I liked this hotel so people won’t find it! 15 or so rooms above the Bay of Grand Barque - quiet, no nonsense bed and breakfast style accommodation with 2 lovely pools. Not a resort but a great base from which to discover the island. They serve a lovely breakfast everyday with a big smile - wonderful place.
We have stayed in boutique hotels around the world and this little gem is definitely among the best. Located just a few minutes from St. Francois, it’s perched on the top of a bluff so has spectacular views. Short drive into St. Francois for restaurants and central to many of the sites and beaches in Grand Terre (eastern side of Guadeloupe). The customer service is truly exceptional led by Lucile (who is fluently bilingual) and her staff. They are generous in sharing their knowledge of the island and suggestion for restaurants and daytrips. The hotel itself is immaculately clean, well laid out rooms, lovely balcony, comfortable bed, quality linens, good a/c, delicious breakfasts, beautiful pool area. We stayed 5 nights and Hotel Amaudo ticks all the boxes for what a quality boutique hotel should be. Highly recommend!…
We stayed here for our honeymoon, and had an amazing time. The view was excellent, and the service was exceptional. Laurent and Lucille helped to make our visit One to remember. We hope to go back soon again.
This is simply one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Room with balcony overlooking the sea was fantastic. The grounds are also beautiful with an infinity pool with a view to match any hotel in the world. Staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. When we return to Guadeloupe we will definitely stay here again.
