Two words: Paradise Challenge. Imagine the Hedonism you’ve known for the past 10 years: an accepting, open, loving place where people of different backgrounds and cultures come together and – figuratively and literally – get naked together. A place of vulnerability and authenticity, lots of booze and debauchery, and, most importantly, honesty. Now imagine a place that is infested by “influencers,” photographers, and self-absorbed selfie creators. Which is exactly the world you were hoping to escape when you booked your vacation to Hedonism, one of the world’s last remaining bastions protecting you from the vapid emptiness of social media. Not anymore. Today Hedonism II is infested with a group of moderately-attractive-but-unfortunately-mindless Generation Z-ers organized by the “Paradise Challenge.” They don’t make eye contact or smile at you. Nor do they – despite the demands of the resort – actually get nude on the “Nude” side of Hedonism’s nude beach. They are a bunch of image-obsessed aspiring social media influencers who don’t give two craps about vulnerability, openness, nakedness, or kindness – i.e., the currency by which Hedonism has prospered over the past decades. Today, two people – one an amateur photographer and the other an amateur model – appeared, fully clothed, on the nude side of Hedo’s beach, the photographer openly taking pictures of the “model” with nonconsenting nude people in the background. I (among others) complained to a security guard, who immediately asked them to move to the “prude” beach. They refused. The guard called a Hedo manager, who showed up to further encourage the couple to move to the prude beach. It is relevant to note that both people are guests of the hotel, which could have ejected them, and the entire Paradise Challenge group, at any time, but chose not to. Once approached by management, the two people immediately apologized to everyone around them for their disrespect and complete lack of social awareness, and left the premises. Just kidding. As empty-headed, self-absorbed, aspiring social media influencers, they continued to argue with management for a full 20 minutes, after which they begrudgingly migrated maybe 100 feet south toward the “prude” section, but still firmly in the “nude” section, and continued taking photos. It takes a lot for a human to feel sufficiently vulnerable to shed her clothing and expose herself – physically and emotionally – to others. Hedo was – WAS, not IS – one of the few remaining places where that was possible. But when it allows callous and insensitive groups, like Paradise Challenge, to book its rooms and, more egregiously, to remain after its members infringe on probably the most basic and important rule of Hedo (i.e., get nude, and don’t take photos, on the nude side), its life is limited. The Hedo you knew is gone, unless and until its owner (Harry Lange) enforces his rules and makes his trusted clientele feel safe again. Mr. Lange – you have made many people feel safe enough to let down their guards, to be open, to be loving, to be vulnerable, and for that you deserve many, many thanks. Please consider ridding your wonderful establishment of the vermin that will bring it down.…
After having cancelled two trips this year due to COVID-19 we said, “NO MORE” and booked our 1st visit at Hedo II, on the nude side, during the first week of October. The forecast called for rain the entire week but pool festivities were only placed on hold for a couple of hours one day out of our entire week stay. When we arrived, we immediately realized that we were somewhere special as the Hedo staff greeted us and other arriving guest with a, “Welcome Home”. From the moment we arrived, to the day we left, the staff was absolutely wonderful. In fact, I don’t think we ever walked passed a staff member on the way to breakfast that did not say good morning with a smile. The entertainment was phenomenal, the food was perfect, the garden on the nude side was harmonious, and HedoWeedo was extremely convenient. If you’re still on the fence about booking your 1st visit, no review will prepare you for the beautiful souls you’re going meet, the inclusiveness you will experience, and the attachment you’ll leave with. Just go. We found our happy place. Thank you Chelsea and Marc & London Denver for the good vibes and the hilarious entertainment. Thank you Fiona Lewis for blessing us with your spirit over breakfast. Thank you Chris for bringing our plaque to life and adding our energy to the garden, and Harry Lange (owner) for taking the time to speak with us if only for a minute.…
This past August I enjoyed Hedonism II with a group of friends. It may seem odd that being an introvert, I would choose this resort for my first trip to Jamaica, but I am so glad that I did. I got the chance to experience the awesome hospitality of employees like Kevin B. who was the most efficient and accommodating waiter I have ever had and Jerome S. who politely escorted me when I was lost, making me feel safe and secure during my 3am wanderings. lol The resort offered an abundance of authentic Jamaican food, sexy entertainment, and massages on the beach. I can't wait to return.
Great time & wonderful staff. Nice entertainment, theme nights, food, and drinks. Exciting excursions and shopping right onnthe resort. I would recommend this place to all my family and friends everywhere.
The staff was as friendly as ever and made every day awesome for us. Great food choices and plenty of drinks. They really do a great job with the entertainment as well. Covid is being dealt with by keeping everything sanitized constantly.
