It’s hard to know where to start because my stay wasn’t typical. But the staff and locals took such great care of me i needed to leave a review Life, in Jamaica, in Covid, is tough, but its not actually tough for tourists. Jamaica have taken restrictions seriously. Tourists seem to think that the rules don’t apply to them but a small resorts like this can & will take care of you in a way a large resort can’t. Be a good ambassador and show people respect. Don’t forget that restrictions and reduced footfall are not just your disappointment it’s their basic subsistence. Be humble, grateful and respectful and if you can’t be respectful don’t go. I made the mistake of reading about peoples experience of larger resorts before coming & was nervous about Covid risk & management & the impact of those factors on travel Legends bossed it. The staff here are amazing. everyone from reception to bar are masked, airport transfer easy to arrange, well managed, comfortable, punctual & drivers both ways took time to talk about local landmarks, economy and history. Local people are hungry, it’s your responsibility to educate yourself & understand your own impact and the impact of Current and historical factors on the island. if you take the time to do that you will go some way to giving the locals the respect they deserve Most tourists are rude & entitled & it is really sad to see that this has got even worse in the pandemic. In 48 hours at the worst time of my life legends were helpful and supportive (reception staff were amazing and I felt supported and safe) Norman’s sweet & polite son on half the journey back to the airport after my very premature departure following an unexpected family bereavement gave me great comfort & it really grounded me to be with‘family people’ at a time when I was far from my own. The locals around the resort managed to make us feel like family and in 48 hours I was absolutely blown away by the support I was given at a really low point One local lady has continued to reach out, knowing my family’s circumstances since This is priceless. Absolute legends, everyone

Stayed here the first part of June. It was wonderful. The staff is outstanding--especially Kendrick and Millicent. After going to several other restaurants we found that the food and service here was the best. If you don't want to stay at a resort with hundreds of other people then this is the place for you!

I have been a loyal guest for almost a decade and as a female solo traveler would never again stay here again! It seems since covid its a different place, I know from experience never to do all inclusive since buffet food horrible slop amd drinks terrible and even have a different menu for all inclusive so can't even get a decent mixer! This time was in garden side and management agreed to give me a deal so I could pay for another week and since only guest that side had a good deal but housekeeping twice didn't give me fresh towels then after wasn't there for a few days but paid in Advanced asked for key to be left with security but wasn't so couldn't get in! The next day I came back I was treated like a criminal by management men wearing blue shirts that were bullies and had to just ask for rest of days refunded and was scary, and shocking treatment after being so loyal over the years and always in past reviewing them 5 stars and recommend them. I feel very sad and disappointing end of a era. Also my first week there couldn't get on wfi only to find out cause they were so cheap with their system if choice that wasn't comparable with a android but only told after having to speak to management over phone and was such a inconvenience since my way of communicating with friends on the beach. So highly recommend avoiding this property if a solo female traveler or have a Android a d need to be connected, since met another guest dealing with same frustrating situation

On the plus side - totally amazing location. Step from bar to beach and in 10 seconds into the crystal clear, bath-water warm ocean. - beach was well maintained - plenty of sun loungers and brolleys - great place to watch the sunset - the pool on the other side of the road is lovely and not used much - great to have the shuttle bus up to samsara hotel for change of scenery On the down side - the hotel needs to raise standards of cleanliness. Our room wasn’t cleaned once in two weeks, the bar area smelt bad and tables/bar were often sticky. - food is plain and expensive (as is most food sold in beach locations in Negril) - around $US 15 for breakfast for one. Drinks expensive too unless it’s happy hour! - our room was very basic and hasn’t been decorated in a while - no hairdryer or safe (so couldn’t lock away laptop nor iPad during the day). Hotel has small safety deposit boxes suitable for passports and money). But aircon was good though. If staying at legends - spend a bit more and have an upstairs room or one with sea view. All inclusive worth doing if you can get it fir a good price. If bought on site it’s $78 per person per day!! Definitely not worth it.

Thank you for choosing our resort for your recent vacation and taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your comments highlighting our great beach front location with amazing sunsets right in front of the hotel. We are also happy to know you liked the privacy of the garden side pool area and enjoyed the free shuttle to Samsara Cliff Resort offered 3 times per day. Please accept our sincerest apology for the inconsistent housekeeping service, this is certainly not the outcome we hoped for and your comments were shared with the relevant managers for further review. However, we are pleased to know that the air-conditioner worked great and kept your room comfortably cool in the tropical weather. Your feedback is important to us as this information will allow us to identify areas of opportunities and implement the necessary measures in an effort to improve the quality of our services and facilities. Thanks again for your visit!

We just returned from a six day anniversary get away to Legends. We had a great time and know that you will too if you go with the appropriate expectations. The grounds were kept immaculately. Though the rooms could use some updating, everything worked and was very comfortable. The rooms were very provincial, with nothing more than the basics. There was no safe, refrigerator or microwave, which is almost universal in U.S. hotels. We did not do the all-inclusive option because we wanted to leave the resort and have the Jamaican experience. We ate at the hotel restaurant three times. The menu has a great variety of options and everything we had was fantastic. There are a lot of cocktail options at the bar; again, all of which we tried were great. Because the Legends property is only about 100 feet wide, their beach is very small. When the beach chairs are put out in the morning, it gets pretty crowded. There are a few umbrellas put out, so there is not much shade. The beach fills up pretty early, and seating/lounging options are limited. The surf is light and the water is famously clear. It makes for a great area to stand around in waist deep water with a drink visiting with other patrons. Not having a safe in the room is a problem. Jamaica is famous for crime, and online forums are replete with warnings for tourists to never take more money with you when you leave the room than you will need before you come back to the room the next time. Because we didn't want to leave large amounts of cash unsecured in a drawer in our room, we took very little cash with us with the intention of relying on ATMs to replenish our stock when it got low. We've done this in Mexico, Aruba, Cayman, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc... and it has worked great every time. Because Jamaica is third world, the ATM options are not what they are elsewhere. The ATM across the street from Legends worked only two of our six days, and the other two ATMs within walking distance never worked. We ended up having to take a cab three miles either way down the beach to find a working ATM. Something that overshadowed so much of our trip was beggars. You cannot walk 100 yards down the road from Legends without encountering at least one beggar. I was walking to the store 100 yards from Legends and while enroute coughed. A beggar ran up to me and told me how I could cure that cough. He produced a handful of parsley (or something) from a bag, stuck it out to me and then solicited money for his medical advice. While trying to decline it one of his friends arrived and joined his demand to imburse the first beggar for his miracle medical cure. If you leave the Legends gate or beach area, you will have similar experiences. BTW, Legends has staff on the beach that mostly keeps beggars out of their area. Because of the beggar prevalence in the area, I strongly suggest two things if you stay at Legends. First, consider the all-inclusive option so you don't have to leave the resort. It is probably more expensive than paying out of pocket for all meals/drinks, but it is convenient and will reduce your exposure to beggars. Second, pay the little extra and stay on the beach side of the road so that you don't have to run the gauntlet of beggars to get to the beach, restaurant and bar. On our last full day we paid for the all-inclusive and spent the day at SamSara, a resort a few miles away in Negril on the cliffs. It is a much larger resort, has no beach, but you can jump into the ocean from twelve foot high cliffs. Most appealing is that because of geography and orientation with adjacent properties, beggars cannot access any part of the facility.

Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We are delighted to know that your enjoyed so many aspects of your recent stay at Legends Beach Hotel in Negril. The gardener will be glad to know that you found the grounds to be well kept, and your housekeeper will also be happy to know you found the room to be clean and comfortable. We do offer free safety deposit boxes at the beach office for the convenience of our guests. Certainly the kitchen and bartenders will appreciate your compliments about the tasty meals and cocktails. We always encourage our guests to reply with a firm but polite "no thank you" to vendors along the beach, if you are not interested in their wares. We understand that this can be an unusual experience for some visitors and regret that you were uncomfortable about that. However we are thrilled you were able to take the free shuttle to Samsara Cliff Resort, known for its peaceful and private oceanfront location with outstanding sea views. We hope you will visit us again soon at either of our properties where you truly can have the best of both beach and cliff. Thanks again for your visit!
