Royalton, Negril is definitely a 5 star resort I would recommend to anyone. Planning to return in the future. Dylan and Roshaun were our butlers I will request them each time I return. They were prompt and catered to my every need.

Hotel's Favourite
We were almost put off this hotel by some of the reviews on here. Thank goodness we didn't change our minds and stayed here. We've just returned from 2 fantastic and relaxing weeks at a great hotel in a great location. I think some people are quite picky and are probably better off paying double or more for Sandals or something similar. HOTEL/LOCATION - The hotel is about 1hr 45m by coach from Montego Bay. If you are wanting to visit some of the tourist areas near Ocho Rios its a long journey, 3 hours approx but Dunn's River Falls is a must. Nearer to this hotel is 7 mile beach and Rick's Cafe which are less than half an hour. Take your wallet and credit cards for Rick's, it's not cheap!!!! The hotel itself is absolutely stunning with superb gardens, well spaced out buildings and amazing views across the bay. The snorkelling around the coves and bays is very good. We saw 3 rays, a puffer fish, lots of starfish and many different fish and crabs. There are also paddle boards, kayaks and sail boats available for free use at the beach. You can pay to water ski, parasail or ride a water sofa. Trips also depart from here for snorkelling, glass bottom boats, Rick's Cafe and catamaran cruises. The beach is lovely, sometimes some seaweed arrives following a storm but the staff are on hand in the morning to clear it away. Sun loungers are easily available on the beaches. There are two choices of beach, one on the bay with some friendly sales people offering you tourist trips, gifts, cigars, fruit or other items but never hassle you and are very friendly. If you want some peace and quiet then the middle beach near the main stage is private and very quiet with its own bar. Alternatively there is the pool which is busier, has its own swim up bar and jerk snack bar for lunch, which is very good serving jerk chicken, pork and sausage along with rice, veg and corn on the cob. The pool is very noisy from about midday with entertainment and music but did not bother us too much, we mainly left it to the younger guests! Reminder for those who can't read, no reserving of sun loungers! Yet still the selfish crowd are out there at 5am putting their towels on them. Have read many reviews regarding the Diamond Club, we did not upgrade so can't really comment but we did pay $59 for a day's use of a Diamond Club cabana which gave us a nice spot on the beach, a cooler full of beer and soft drinks, waitress service and food brought to us from the Diamond Club restaurant, well worth it! ROOM - We upgraded to a swim up junior suite. It had a king size bed which was really comfortable, a good size TV with american channels plus a whirlpool bath. We didn't use the room service but if we had one critiscsm it would be the mini bar was not restocked unless we asked, its not much to ask to have two bottles of water left a day and one day we would get creamer but no coffee and the next coffee but no creamer! Also no stirrers to make it! For those saying the swim up pools have leaves or dirt in them, it's the Caribbean and storms and the wind blow them in and the guys were cleaning them once or twice a week but it is a very large hotel. It is a plunge pool however and quite cold but nice for cooling down. The view from our room was fantastic, near the beach and in view of the pool. I would suggest if you like peace and quiet then ask to be away from the main stage or the pool as these areas are quite lively!!! ENTERTAINMENT - We didn't use the gym or fitness guys, I'm sure they're great but we were on holiday!!! Evening entertainment was really good but didn't start until 9pm so there is bit of a lull between 6pm and 9pm. We watched Michael Jackson, a steel band who were excellent and best of all, the Bob Marley evening which was brilliant. Wednesday night's there is usually a beach disco which was located right outside of our room and the volume was up at 11 but we enjoyed it as it was just one evening a week. BARS & RESTAURANTS - There is a nice coffee shop near reception that does take away coffee and snacks, pastries and sandwiches throughout the day. The Sports Bar is open from 3pm and also serves pub type food but we didn't eat there. The drinks were always good. They show football and lots of different live sport here. There is also a good bar in the lobby with fantastic views across the bay and a nice place for a quiet drink. The main buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Obviously due to covid restrictions it isn't easy for the staff and on busy days, especially Friday through Sunday, you do sometimes have to be patient and wait a while for your food, some freshly prepared by the fantastic staff. Food was of a good standard and plenty of freshly made options like omelette's and crepes for breakfast, nachos, pasta or pizza for lunch or chicken, steak and fish for dinner. Plenty of salads and fruit available as well. They also have a different theme every night. There are several a'la carte restaurants. We did not eat at the Tex Mex, Hunter Steakhouse or Zen Teppanyaki, the latter requiring reservations. However, the Italian Grazie restaurant was really good with freshly made pizzas and pasta, plus other dishes. Also recommended is the Calypso West Indian restaurant, with the Jerk chicken a really good dinner. We commented that we would have paid for the meal and service we recieved here. Really impressed considering it is all inclusive. The pool bars and the main stage maxi bar all serve local Red Stripe beer and decent spirits (smirnoff) and generous measures. They also have a really good range of cocktails. Try the Bob Marley and the Bahama Mama! GIFT SHOP - Very expensive! A bag of Lays Crisps $15. Really?!!! But a nice selection of T-shirts for around $30 each. COVID - We both remarked that we felt safer in Jamaica than England. Leaving Gatwick people were requested to wear masks in the airport but probably 50% did not. Some passengers on the plane did not want to comply either. However, when you arrive in Jamaica they simply won't tolerate non-compliance. Everyone is sprayed with hand gel in the airport and told to wear their mask despite a few English people who just don't like being told anything. Gladly they were forced to. At the hotel we had our temperatures taken on entrance to every restauarant 3 times a day and made to hand sanitise. Masks are worn at all times in inside areas. Again, because of a few selfish individuals annoucenments were needed at the pool bar to request guests wore masks when ordering drinks to protect staff. You could take it off once you were away from the bar but some people find even this difficult. Finally, the STAFF - they were the icing on the cake. We found nearly every member of staff to be friendly, courteous and effiecient. They were fantastic and most went out of their way to make our holiday special. They were pleased to have tourists back in Jamaica and were a credit to the Royalton. In particular we would like to mention Nicola, Marissa and Derrica in the main buffet, Andrice from Cabana sales and Roxanne from Cabana service were all brilliant at their jobs and made our stay special. Most of all Shantal and Amanda, waitresses from the pool and Maxi bar were outstanding for the whole two weeks. They went out of their way, remembered our names and made sure we had everything we needed all day and night making superb drinks and delivering brilliant customer service. We can't thank you enough. This hotel definitely has a heartbeat, if you don't want to hear a sound on your holiday then maybe this isn't for you. We loved it but it has a lively atmosphere. For us as a couple it was perfect, i probably wouldn't have choosen to bring my children here when they were young. It's not a criticism, as i say we've had the best holiday here! Our first stay at a Royalton Hotel and we will be back. Loved it! A little piece of paradise.

Myself and my family of four recently stayed at the Royalton Negril in the middle of July. After a 1 and a half hour coach journey we arrived at the hotel to be told they were unable to find our booking which has been booked with tui for nearly 3 years, we booked 2 separate rooms, one for myself and my husband and the other for my 18 year old and 14 year old children. Eventually my children were given a room in a block rather far away from the reception, only to find a room with a double bed and a sofa bed, which was not what we booked, in the meantime my husband and I were still waiting to be given a room, our passports taken away and 1 and a half hours later we were given a room in another block, we were not given a bellboy to help with the luggage, my husband had to drag the case to the block furthest away from reception which is not what we expect from a 5 star autograph hotel, it dampened our spirits a lot. Eventually we all went back to reception and demanded new rooms near to one another, to which they assisted with. We were still in block one and two so not exactly close as we wanted. The views and location of hotel were amazing, and definitely one of things about the hotel that was 5 star. Yet the hotel atmosphere was not family friendly as advertised on Tui, very rowdy and noisy day and night around the pool. It was more like a party hotel, than a family hotel. We was staying in the diamond club which is nearly an extra £2000 and found it to be not much of an advantage because non diamond club guests were using diamond club facilities and not being challenged. And be aware that Hideaway guests (ADULT ONLY) come to the Diamond Club pool area (FAMILY AREA) to party, get drunk and be very rowdy where we witnessed a slight altercation break out, resulting in children crying and having to leave the pool area because people from the ADULTS ONLY section are allowed to do what they want in the Diamond Club area. I find it hard to believe people who want an adults only section would rather disrupt the area and the peacefulness of the family area. Onto the restaurants... The restaurants themselves were average but the most frustrating thing the restaurant that yiu had to book for, Zen - Japanese Resturant, was very complicated, on one occasion we had reserved a table outside for 7:00PM, while we were waiting, someone from a party of 20 went straight to the front of the queue was hanging around and he was told that they couldn't fit him in, and then my husband had noticed that the man from the party of 20 had pulled out some dollars and handed it to the waitress and then all of a sudden, the rest of the party had come along and the guy said he sorted it, and then they were all shown to the table before anyone else. Our service was terrible, starters came out at all different times for us, they had ran out of certain drinks, and the party of 20 certainly felt president over everyone else. To which we did not enjoy our meal at all. Please note the on-site shop is EXTREMELY expensive, you will be paying $15 for bag of cheetos, and $35 dollars for a vape, ensure that you pack everything you need because the prices are extortionate. I was bitten by sand fleas, which I had never heard of, but apparently they come out of sand when it rains, if you get sand fleas yourself, take lots of benadryl and ensure you rub on aloe Vera gel. Most of the staff are very very friendly, always wanting to help, always a smile on their face, best service. The sunbeds and the bali beds could do with an uplift as they have a rather large amount of mould on them. It was my sons birthday while we were there and ultimately the hotel did not do anything even when they were made aware, yet the Tui reps had a little surprise for my son when he got back to his room, two little cakes and a bottle of non-alcoholic grape juice which was a nice touch which made my sons day. The hotel did nothing. Please note some.of the trips are good, but super expensive. We paid for the Montego Bay Dolphin Trip, which was a one in a lifetime experience and was so amazing, we did this for my sons birthday, but it was so extortionate, it did make memories, for my son and my daughter we got the Gold/Royal Swim package where they got to ride on the dolphins, and lift them up into the air like superman by the dolphins and myself and my husband had the silver package where we still had lots of interaction with the dolphin, 100% worth the price. We also did the Rick's Cafe catamaran trip which was fun and they cared about our safety. Overall we rate this holiday 3.7 out of 5, if we had the choice we would preferred to stay in the Hideaway as it would have been a more peaceful and relaxing holiday. Has definitely put us off booking any other Royalton hotel. Tui...step up your game, you need to look how you are advertising the hotel because it did NOT meet up to our expectations, we had paid a lot of money and waited a lot of time for this holiday.

Though our room conditions and some of the butler service was off. Carla Smith was very knowledgeable and approachable during our stay in Negril. Jamaica. She double - tripled - checked to make sure our arrangements were solid. She also advised us well on what items we should bring during our excursions. I love and appreciate how she took care of us.

Recently returned from a third visit to Royalton Negril. Overall the whole vacation was great, Few issues with a leaking air conditioning unit in the our room on the first couple of days meant we were moved from building 2 to building 1, new room actually had a better view of the sunset so bonus. In general the site could do with a little TLC. Our butlers, George and Latoya were brilliant, dealing with any requests very efficiently. No complaints about the food in the restaurants, though Hunters did struggle with very slow service when busy. The staff at the Martini bar were great, Shamone mixes a very good Margarita and Cleon entertained with card tricks. We are beach people so can’t comment on the main or Diamond club pool. The beach was no where near as busy as our previous visits and didn’t have any issues getting a decent lounger near the sea. Though the loungers under cover did have an ant issue but a few sprays of insect repellant seemed to do the trick. Drinks service was a little patchy in the first week but improved massively in the second. Diamond club grill was good for a lunch snack as were the options available at the main pool. Generally every me member of staff we met were friendly. We and two other families of 3, used Michael’s boat tour to 7 mile beach, Rick’s cafe with some snorkelling and swimming in the caves. Had a great time. The boat doesn’t look much but his guys were great with plenty of drinks available, one of the guys gave us a diving show off the cliffs at the caves and at Ricks. I would recommend the morning trip to avoid the potential rain in the afternoon. Don’t let Michael’s appearance put you off, he’s fully clothed head to foot including his face due to a skin condition. Another recommendation would be a visit to the Office of Nature, a short walk round the bay, fantastic freshly cooked lobster with rice and peas. Our daughter enjoyed the water sofa rides, though a little pricy at $30 per person for approx 5 mins. Our second seek coincided with Emancipation day and there was a big event in Negril which added an extra dimension to the party vibe. Overall another very good visit to the Royalton though as I said earlier the property is in need of some TLC.

First holiday in a while and it was absolutely awesome. Nothing less then perfect. The Hotel (amenities and food) were far beyond average "All inclusive resor" like food. Buffet and Restaurants were delicious. We took the Diamond Club (quite expensive) but totaly worth it ! Many thanks to our buttler LaToya who was great and everywhere... to make our stay memorable. The entire famile (seven of us) absolutely loved it ! Royalton Negril definitely set a new standard for us !

We booked this holiday last year, there were 9 of us in this group, we were celebrating a 50th & a 30th birthday so it was a big deal. The coach journey on the way to the hotel was the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life! People were asking I’m to slow down because he was making people ( including myself) feel soo sick! We all had junior suites & there was one family room, the family rooms bath tsp came off in there hand & water was feeling the bath, rang front desk to report this & they took soo long to come the one of the guests had to run down to reception to report it. Turnt the water off & said they would fix it but when they went to have a shower the water hadn’t been put back on! Don’t get me started with the towel situation! They would clean the rooms & take our towels & not leave clean ones so we were forever chancing for towels some of the group had to get towels from the pool hut. My son booked a romantic dinner for him & his girlfriend but because it was raining the had to advise them to have it on the balcony in there room( which he said was fine) when he got there after waiting nearly 2 hours for someone to tell him it was ready what he got was a picnic infront of the telly! The worse bit about it was he was going to propose! My son was so frustrated it was ruined that he & his girlfriend ended up arguing. Then to top off his evening the cleaner had put his clothes in a rubbish bag! Our last day was ruined by a group of very rude people who took over the main pool area for a party, now I’m all for a party but when It means other people are having there person space inflicted apon that’s not right, the life guard made all the kids get out of the pool! These people were drinking from bottles on the pool & standing & sitting on OUR loungers! Leaving there bags & shoes on our loungers & it was like we were being made to leave our loungers because they wanted our space… that didn’t happen. I felt like all the excitement of us looking forward to this special trip was plagued by problems & silly ones that should not be happening in a “ 5 star” resort like this. I’ve been to Jamaica 3 times & I can safely say this is one Hotel I wouldn’t go back to.

I don’t even know where to start. This entire place gets a 1 out of 5. The food quality and selection is so horrible that I don’t know where to begin. I love Jamaica and have been coming for 15 years. This is my first time at the Royalton Negril. I didn’t believe people in the pool on our first day when they said, you will absolutely lose weight here. Like I said, I have so many horrible stories about this run down prison. Funny but it’s a new place yet it’s runner down. Today, I ordered a grilled cheese and they looked at me like I was from Mars. I grabbed cocoa bread and some American cheese and gave them specific instructions. 30 minutes later, they came back with warm break and the cheese was not melted. I’m losing my mind here. I paid so much more for Diamond Club as well. I was supposed to get ocean view but my view is on the second floor of a huge tree. WTF. Needless to say, I’m not coming back obviously. Like I said, I do love Montego Bay and Runnaway Bay - never an issue. This place is sad, worn down and cooks that are jokers. The steaks are frozen and tasteless. Diamond Club - don’t bother. Useless people. And I even brought them gifts and tip them like crazy. NO ONE IS MOTIVATED HERE. Even when you tip them. There are a few people who care. But for the love of God, do not come here for food. It literally is horrible. And please do not even attempt to try the “pizza”. It’s almost like a child is cooking. I will be writing a lot more as soon as I get back home. The best thing I ate here in Jamaica were the patties on our way to this prison. This is not located on 7 mile beach. The beach looks like a lake. They have great bars and all sorts of alcohol. Come here to lose weight. The mashed potatoes taste like cement that was just mixed. They have no idea how to make jerk chicken or pork. I will most likely go back to the Hilton or the Jewell in Montego Bay and Runnaway Bay. If you a foodie, please don’t bother.

We stayed here for 10 nights in August 2021, it was amazing, the staff where friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We stayed diamond class and the upgrade was worth it for the quieter area of the beach and the waiter service on the beach. Our butler didn't really go above and beyond, he would text every morning to see where we would like a reservation for dinner but apart from that he was pretty non existent throughout our stay. Food was plentiful and always a good variety, we especially enjoyed the steakhouse and ate there a couple of times throughout our stay. The only thing I would say is this isn't really a place I would bring young children, the main pool area can get very rowdy during the day. That said we loved our holiday here and although some things where not right due to covid 19 we would 100% come back once life has fully returned to normal.
