We went to Great Huts in December of 2013 and stayed for a week after a recommendation from a couple of friends. Great Huts is an exquisite and unique experience. Our recommendation would be to go there as a couple or with a group of friends (the hotel is kid friendly but would be more enjoyed by young/older couples alike....

I recently stayed the weekend in the Queen of Sheba suite with my daughter and 5 of her friends. Its multi-storied with two 'bathrooms', one outdoors, the other inside with curtains as walls (ie. not much privacy but you can always ask your friends to go upstairs so they can't hear you as the kids did with each other!) The...

I've stayed in just about every type of accommodation Jamaica has to offer, from beach huts to backpackers hostels to luxury five star hotels. Great Huts stands out as completely unique. A bunch of individually designed, specially themed huts amidst a tropical forest and overlooking Jamaica's best surfing beach, Boston Bay, great huts is a cure for the cookie cutter...

For me, Great Huts is a heady, soulful, spiritual combination of Jamaica meets Bali en route to the Motherland, Africa. GH is for the most discerning of visitor; one that is aware and is not timid to dive further into themselves. If you're looking for seclusion, GH will give you that and more. A sign of a 'good' hotel for...

Great Huts is simply amazing! I heard about Great Huts two years ago and was determined to make that my destination on this trip to Jamaica. I was not disappointed! We stayed in the Queen of Sheba hut -three wonderful levels to get intimate with nature, showering under, sleeping above, and hanging out over the tree branches! There were cozy nooks with hammocks and seats...

It was my 2nd trip to Great Huts. I love the relaxing atmosphere, the whole concept and the way each hut is unique and designed to fit the landscape. On my last trip we stayed at Tabernacle hut and this time I spent some time searching on the internet for the best hut. In the end we chose Sea Grape...

March 2013. Extremely Exotic! Was not disappointed upon arrival with our expectations. The pictures and brochures cannot give this place justice. The people were warm and the service was very helpful. The food was great and the entertainment with the local children was amazing. Our stay was for seven days in two different huts. We never ran out of things...

I come to Jamaica each summer with my middle school dance students from Brooklyn NY for a two week dance intensive in Kingston, but every year we spend 3 nights at Great Huts. Not only is it unlike anywhere I've ever been before, but it brings me peace in a way no other place has. Luxury in its most natural...

We started in Kingston and drove along the winding sea road bound for the waves at Boston Bay. With no solid travel itinerary or reservations. We had searched the Great Huts website, but nothing could have prepared us for what we saw. We arrived right before dusk, just in time to take everything in. On the drive in you pass...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Great Huts: Paradise on the Edge is an oceanfront resort on the lush northeastern tip of Jamaica. Modeled after a traditional African village, at once both rough-hewn and modern, it is a convergence of nature, heritage, spirituality and technology. Off the beaten path, but not far from the bustle and night life of Boston Bay and Port Antonio, Great Huts' jungle-cliff-beach habitat is a distinctive ecological and cultural experience. The African hut and Amerindian tree-house dwellings studded throughout the meandering, five-acre compound are comfortably furnished and decorated with uncommon African and Jamaican artifacts. ... more   less
