I stayed at the Caribe Hilton based on rave reviews of a friend, and veered from my typical Condado stay but was deeply disappointed on multiple levels. The positives are: that the hotel has a private beach (in a cove, so calmer waters) and an array of swimming pools and jacuzzis that are very nice. For convenience, there are several restaurants on site but they are STEEPLY priced. The breakfast (warm bar, in particular with fresh made eggs and waffles) was nice. The negatives: service at the front desk/ bellmen was kind of awful! Arrived to front desk, and had a fairly curt attendant eg had to ask for what amenities are on site, to which she responded by handing me a 4 page brochure. I asked for an explanation and she gave a very hand wavy response sort of like I was wasting her time; the facility is quite expansive and there are at least 8-9 places to dine so a brief overview - takes 30-45 secs - got later when I came back to desk to ask someone else. The first bellman I encountered was also quite rude/ brusque when asking for directions; it was so odd. First welcome to the property was NOT welcoming - AT ALL. And then when I tried calling to change rooms because the first one smelled like sewer/ musty (couldn’t tell if the room or the AC) no one at front desk would pick up - actually no one ever picked up my entire stay; so I had to walk all the way down and across the hotel just to ask for a move. Quite terrible, really. They were all free at the front and the attendant (who was kind) blamed the back desk. The rooms are also very underwhelming, think basic (but worn carpet and walls, unfortunately likely due to being by the water). The room was very clean though. And then while it’s convenient to have a variety of restaurants on site, they are wildly overpriced. There were lots of big families. It’s clear they’re going for numbers and quantity rather than quality at this time. Will not be staying again, ever - certainly not for nearly $400/ night. Never again.

Hotel's Favourite
We've stayed here many times over the years, and it's truly an iconic property. But what really makes us return is the staff and the level of service they provide. A few standouts are Miguel the waiter in the lobby bar, Arlene, Ninoshka, and Justin at the pool and beach, Hector at valet, and Efraim the waiter at the breakfast restaurant. All of the staff is consistently excellent, but these people go over and above.

I'm not saying this hotel isn't good for you, I'm just saying it was a nightmare for me. The rooms had no heat and wouldn't wouldn't get over 71 degrees with the AC off. An exception was if your room got morning sunlight and you opened up your curtains first thing in the morning. But that's temporary and it's freezing by the afternoon. OK, now onto breakfast. Their large buffet had no outdoor seating and wouldn't allow take out. I had no intention of getting COVID (which I did anyway probably from the what the cold room was doing to my immune system.) So we ate at another restaurant on the property (Mojito's) and they lied to my face about was in the food and made me sick. I have food allergies and what the did was unforgivable. Only one person at Mojito's didn't deserve to be fired, that is Alejandra who knows more about cooking than all cooks there combined and tried to get me food that didn't poison me.

The worst experience. The staff is incompetent and rude. Our reserved room wasn’t clean when we arrived even though our flight was 3 hours late! The room they put us in is across from the ice machine and overlooks a dirty roof with standing water and trash in it. This place is terrible. Stay somewhere else!

I was excited about staying at this beachfront property until I walked in my sleeping room. The first room had a drainage problem and it took housekeeping/maintenance an entire day to check it out. The towels need to be trashed and the bed is extremely lumpy. The balconies are weird shaped and while you can view the beach it's not a great view. I did enjoy my time at the beach and pool. Loved all the outside staff.

Had a wonderful business trip to San Juan and my hotel experience at Caribe Hilton was one of the primary reasons it was such a positive experience. The location of the property, the condition of the public spaces and the rooms are excellent. The pool areas and the ocean lagoon are special and provide ample opportunity for socializing. The views are relaxing. I enjoy both the Ice Cream Coffee Shop and the Starbucks. The Mojitos Bar is overpriced. The central location made it easy to get to Old San Juan and easy to get to the airport. I liked walking to the restaurants in Condado area. Much of the staff was not anticipatory, so there was some waiting to be done, but four examples stood out - bartenders at the expansive lobby bar were exceptional and made the best Pina Colada I’ve ever had. The towel team at the pool shack were always attentive and cheerful. The housekeeping teams were truly amazing and efficient. The gentleman at Concierge was so helpful in securing rare reservations in an increasingly impressive culinary scene. I would recommend staying here for future visits. The quality is high and the value is excellent. Good shops in the promenade area and always security presence for extra reassurance. But I always felt safe in San Juan.

A beautiful tropical resort. I will say the staff was friendly and helpful. I was not expecting our stay to be inexpensive, but I was a bit surprised at some of the fees. We were charged 50 cents a day for maid service, even though they did not service the room each day. We paid $8 for valet laundry and were then charged a bellman fee of $5.25 for them to deliver the clean laundry to the room. As expected, the food at the hotel restaurants was expensive but was good. We ate breakfast each morning at Nectar. The continental breakfast buffet was more than enough food for us. We stayed in a Junior Suite since my husband was trying to get a little work done while I attended a conference. It was very spacious, with a large bathroom. The AC didn't seem to be very effective. It ran constantly, and although it was cool, the room still felt very damp. The bathroom could have used some additional towel racks; there was no place to hang a wet towel, nor was there any place to hang a wet bathing suit. The worst thing was the shower's water pressure; it was pathetic. Someone with thick hair would have been hard-pressed to use this shower. Part of the problem is how the shower is designed, where you pull the plunger from the tub faucet to make it go to the shower. So much water continues to come out of the tub faucet; it's no wonder the shower doesn't have much pressure. Plus, and this is an assumption, most hotels use low-flow shower heads. Lastly, and this is a pet peeve of mine, the tub dripped constantly! You could not turn the water completely off. Hotels, in general, want to make us believe they are doing everything they can to preserve the environment and save water, yet in the majority of the hotels I have been in, the faucet in the tubs, showers, or sinks drip water. Fixing these leaks is probably the easiest thing that we can do to conserve water, and it's done the least. As for the rest of the hotel, it's a beautiful resort, although there are places where it's age does show. The pool is nice (although it needs a little work), and the grounds are lovely. The beach area is also quite nice. I did not go to the spa or the tennis courts. And lastly, the convention area needs a lot of work. From leaking roofs and windows (I mean serious leaks) to multiple toilets in the ladies' room being out of order.

I love the location of this Hotel and It’s proximity to restaurants and other locations. This is my second time staying here. Ocean view room was awesome! Housekeeping did a nice job with the room. Excellent food and service at Lola’s Puerto Rican cuisine restaurant. Best pina coladas, delicious! Bagua’s servers need improvement and beach chairs should be retired and upgraded. Overall this hotel was very good and I recommend it.
