I don't know about you, but when I'm on holiday the hotel amenities are the least of my concerns. I'm there to see the city around the hotel. Where I sleep is the least of my concerns. 1. My most important concern is location, which Casa TripGoGo definitely has. It's in the center of old San Juan, just blocks from everything. 2. Second most important is authenticity, which Casa TripGoGo also has. It's an old concrete and brick building like the rest in the city, built pre-A/C with a cupola in the high ceiling of each of the half dozen rooms, allowing enough air flow out the louvered door into the open-air hall that didn't need to turn on the A/C at all. The nearly nightly rain and wind squalls hammering the cupola above us and sprinkling on the hall outside our door made us feel like we were part of the environment, as did the chirping Coquis (frogs) and cooing pigeons in the forested lot directly behind our wall. 3. Third most important is the comfort of the hotel itself. Our room was the only one with a shower/toilet/sink. The other rooms all share two bathrooms down the hall which were also available for our use. Our room also had a very comfortable four-post queen size bed, and a small fridge and microwave. But down the hall is a simple but adequate kitchen (with an espresso machine), an outdoor dining porch, and if you're brave enough, a very steep staircase leading up to a marvelous view of the city from the rooftop. Eddie has equipped the place with an eclectic mix of found art, portraits (one of them MLKJ), painted murals, and an unlimited supply of towels. 4. Fourth most important is the price. Overall, Casa TripGoGo is unbeatable for the price, ambience, and funkiness.

We stayed in room 37 where the door could only be slammed shut. Despite no air conditioning, the overhead fan and roof cupola made the temperature comfortable. Mosquitoes bit us nonstop while sleeping even when fan was at its highest. Fridge in room was a nice amenity. No luggage storage so when checkout time comes, you must take your luggage with you. Full mattress was medium firm so comfortable even if cozy for two adults. Beware of hidden fees like late arrival and cleaning fees, which we’re not made clear upfront. What was advertised as $80 per night turned into $107.50 per night.

This is an authentic Puerto Rican Hostel located in an old building with all kinds of historical character, you are greeted by wonderful friendly staff who are always available to offer assistance. The rooms are small, the beds are clean and comfortable, the breakfast is off the charts. If you forgot something just ask. Eddie has lots of advice on where to travel and is very helpful. The beach is a 15 min easy walk away. The hostel is located in the center of everything and only 3 blocks away from Plaza Colon, where you are picked up for Tours, or 3 blocks from 2 different Taxi stands. If you are a foodie order the breakfast it’s amazing and get a room with a refrigerator To store your leftovers. There is a public microwave for reheating food and multiple public spaces for relaxation if needed.

The best place to be in the central of old San Juan. If you want to have the best experience for a good price then you should stay here. We had a group of 4 and the staff made us all feel more than welcome. My biggest regret was only staying one night in San Juan at the end of my trip because of how welcoming the staff was to the four of us who stayed. If you want to experience San Juan as it truly is, then you should stay at Casa TripGoGo.
