We had 3 adults and they gave us a king bed with a small sofa bed. When they moved us to the next room to try to accommodate us, it was on the ground floor. We had ants throughout the room. We found a roach on the side of the sofa and had to call the maintenance people to come and kill it. They sprayed RAID in the room which caused fumes. The fan light wasn’t working, the bathroom was outdated and disgusting. It’s just something I didn’t expect from a resort style hotel. I was very disappointed they couldn’t move us to a more appropriate room. We were there for a wedding and we had a horrible time getting ready. I tried switching hotels, unfortunately the ones I called were all booked up.
What a fabulous time I had at the Hilton Ponce' Golf & Casino Resort. Everything was wonderful... The suite, the restaurants, the pool areas, the Casino EVERYTHING! I picked this Hilton for my yearly Birthday week vacation this year for it's highly rated reviews and I was not disappointed in any way. The Resort staff were fabulous and friendly and helpful, the whole time I was there I was treated like a VIP.
This Hilton location has the stately charm of an expansive 1970s concrete development, with huge public spaces our team spread out in and spent most of our free time. The staff at the restaurants made our time there seamless, stretching from the buffet to the pool. Especially accomodating were the bar, Wigberto, and Mekelle, a trainee who is already a talented server. I came here on business, but I know I'll return personally.
In January, my wife, daughter, and I were exploring the idea of a spring break beach vacation but did not want to leave the United States in case a new COVID strain circulated - we did not want to get locked out from getting home. At the time, the Virgin Islands were on lock down, but Puerto Rico was not. My wife and I had visited San Juan a couple of times and wanted to explore the South side of the island. We found the Hilton at a good rate. Our plan was to fly down Easter Sunday and stay a few nights (April 17-21, 2022). It seemed to be very nice if we could get to it. They do not offer any shuttle service -into town or from either of the airports. We had to rent a car in San Juan, drive over the mountains, and pay for parking at the hotel. However, that was an acceptable cost to try something new. When arrived, it was impressive. The staff give you the royal treatment when are a Hilton diamond rewards member. Two free drink coupons, some minor upgrades, discounts, and other amenities. The Service throughout our stay was excellent. It was five-star service. The rooms were always nice, the pools were clean and fun, and the bar tenders were great. In some respects, the hotel sells itself short -beyond the golf course and pool, there is a water slide a full put-put course, more than one tennis court, volleyball, a playground splash pad, etc. It was great for my daughter. However, it started to get boring after a couple of days. Perhaps it was not the hotels’ fault and may have been more a case of bad luck. We got hit with rain, which limited activities. There is only one food area open (it seems many of the restaurants are closed -including the club Don Q at the far pool). So, there is only one place for drinks -same selection and food over a few days gets boring. The continental breakfast was great, but again the same problem -nothing new. The beach is nice to walk, but it is small and we were not sure if we could swim in the surf-no one else was swimming there. The casino was small-mostly slots, but not something we really explored with a six-year old. The biggest drawback was that nothing surrounding the hotel was open. I don’t know if everyone was still on Easter break, if we came in the wrong season, or if COVID had everything shut down. We drove to the historic Ponce city center and found the fire house museum, fountain, and a couple of restaurants open, but so much was closed. It was quite like a ghost town in areas. The brew house was closed and the Don Q rum distillery and museum were closed. Island excursions were closed, the seaside walk and all the shops around the port were closed. It was dead. We went to Walmart to grab beers and snacks and basically waited out our vacation going to the same two pools. They were great, just not four days of enjoyment. This could be a very nice location and vacation destination once things get back to normal -it that ever happens. In the meantime, the hotel remains a four-star trying hard to be a five star.…
The trash along the drive to the resort was a signal. Indifferent employees. A good resort concept but the dirty concrete structure wasn't pleasing. Great pool options-slide, splash pad, etc. Often no employee available to give towels or games or putput tools for a very tired course. Food choices were ok. Shuttel bus to another location with sushi bar. This oceanfront resort discouraged enjoying the ocean with a fence and a gate. Nothing much in the vicinity unless you drive 45 min to Paguera. Very arid here. Should have had bottles of water in room or access to water near pool. No poolside service. Cocktails ie. marguerita were terrible.
