Really beautiful hotel with 20 foot ceilings, dark wood everywhere, really antique look and feel. Right on the main square in Ponce. Balcony room we reserved was really nice but overlooked a main street so not too private. Hallways and lobby not air conditioned but rooms were. Hotel restaurant closed Monday-Tues, but stopped wed morning for decent breakfast. Extremely comfy king bed! Only problem was lack of elevator but knew upfront and not unusual in an old building. However since there are high ceilings note need to haul bags up more like 2 flights of stairs. They did offer to help.

We stayed here for one night on April 16. The front desk girl we talked to was very friendly and informative. This old hotel (1872) is beautiful and luckily survived the 2020 earthquakes. (Many of the building’s in the vicinity sustained serious damage and are vacant.) This property is old but has some modern touches in the room. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and had a really good experience. The hotel is half a block from a Central Park plaza with large water fountains, a beautiful cathedral and several restaurants and food trucks. Our bathroom had a window to an interior hallway that was open. We had to go outside the room to shut it. The water was cold, never really warmed up, so I had a cool shower. The power went out about 5am; stopped my husband’s sleep breathing machine. The bed was much softer than what I prefer but slept okay. I don’t believe there is an elevator. We were able to park on the street in front of the building.

If you are going to Ponce and stay in a nice hotel this is a perfect option. My stay was perfect. Colonial stylish hotel, clean and beautiful. Monica at the front desk was very professional, kind and helpful. She gave me good recommendations of the city and definitely she made my stay easy. Hotel is located in the middle of everything. Theres good spots to eat near. Theres a food truck in front of the hotel and i recommend it, also there is a cool souvenir store Utopía and theres a cafeteria inside with good breakfast. Rooms were beautiful and i loved my balcony. Check out was very easy by Madeline she was very kind too. They also provide me a letter for staying at the hotel and that was beautiful and professional. Nothing bad to say about this place is perfect. Norberto is the GM and he had a great communication with me. Thank you so much guys for being part of my journe, i really appreciate your kindest. See you soon!

We stayed at Hotel Belgica on Plaza Las Delicias, during the Ponce Carnival and loved it! We chose Ponce Carnival because it was our 30th wedding anniversary and we were married at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, so we decided to stay with the theme. First, I would say that if you want the excitement of a festival with parades and traditional costumes, etc., but not the public drunkeness that goes with it (in New Orleans) the Ponce Carnival is for you! The hotel is situated close to the festivities, so that we could get to the action in a five-minute walk, but far enough away that the hotel was quiet during the night. The staff was very friendly and Humberto, in particular, was gracious and had a number of great dining and sightseeing recommendations for us. The room was fairly spacious and had a nice queen bed & TV with Netflix (if you have an account, which we did). Huge double doors that open to a small balcony, on which we sat and had a glass of wine for happy hour, on the day we arrived. The AC worked well with a remote control. If you like a hotel with a historic feel, but all the modern amenities, located in a traditional city center, this place is for you. We did have some confusion about the carnival itself, which was scheduled for Saturday through Tuesday when we booked the reservation, but later was shortened to Sunday only. This was done because of the recent earthquake, of which Ponce was still showing some damage, with maybe 5 percent of buildings in the historic center being uninhabitable. However, the city was showing its resilient spirit during the carnival and we had a very good time at the parade and the musical performance in the evening (a salsa artist/band called Pirulo y La Tribu) was fantastic. We worked with Humberto to arrange an early check-out so we could see more of the island before we return to cold, snowy Colorado.
