La Haut or Le Haut literally means "the height" in Patois, a French dialect that is commonly spoken by St. Lucians. La Haut sits on a hill overlooking Soufriere, one of the oldest towns in St Lucia.Part of a 52-acre former coconut and cocoa estate, the main Guest House possesses a unique history. Nearly 100 years old, the main guesthouse was originally a cocoa house used for fermenting and drying cocoa beans hand-picked on the estate. In 1995, the building was converted and refurbished into a 6-room guesthouse. The nearby cottage was a former copra house where coconuts were once processed.Although the rich aroma of cocoa beans no longer wafts through the air, at La Haut you can enjoy the perfume-scented, tropical fauna or the salty breeze that blows off the Caribbean Sea.

We were disappointed with our stay at La Haut. While we knew it was an older resort that had not been renovated recently, we never thought we would have so many issues… Right from the start things got off to a rocky start. We had 3 families staying in 6 of the rooms. 2 of the families never had blankets on their beds the first night and we never - not once- had enough beach towels for all of us to use throughout the day. The ladies at the office just shrugged their shoulders when we asked what the rest of our family was supposed to use for the day. Terrible customer service. No one is at the office after 5 so if you have an issue - like no blankets or a a non flushing toilet - I guess you wait until morning?? Terrible. All but one of the nights we had hot showers and at best it was a trickle most days. The taps would hardly turn on and the hot water one barely moved. Could hardly get the shampoo out of my hair. Our door would not latch unless I used a knife from the drawer. Ridiculous that simple maintenance of things like this couldn’t be looked at. One night we had a dog barking the ENTIRE night. I hardly slept. When I mentioned it to the office lady the next morning she acted like it was my fault I never went looking for the security guard at 3 in the morning to tell him. Honestly- walking around a dark, non lit ‘resort’ to tell the security guard about a loud dog that has no business being there in the first place?? I think not. All of these issues just added up to a less than pleasurable stay. Yes- they keep showing the awesome views of the pitons and the infinity pool. They were amazing views! It’s just a shame that some of these simple maintenance issues couldn’t be addressed. For that reason I couldn’t give a decent review and wished I had been aware of some of these problems before we arrived.

Dear Ms. Amanda, Thank you for the review of your stay with us at La Haut Resort. Firstly, we would like to apologize for the inconveniences that you and your family may have come across during your stay with us. We appreciate that we cannot get it right all the time but would hope that when there are such inconveniences with the accommodation such as simple maintenance issues this is brought to our attention immediately at reception during our opening hours in other for us to rectify it during the guests stay, to ensure that they leave us feeling happy and relaxed. Regarding the beach towels, since you had such a huge family the quantity of towels we had at reception at the time was not sufficient to give you on that one particular occasion when you came to get them, and we quickly got the balance of the towels from the laundry to ensure that all your family members did not leave property without the towels. We also apologize for the disturbance from the barking dog on that night in question, this issue was rectified for the following nights after discussion with security. I am sure that was not the impression the office staff meant to give you in regard to the barking dog issue. You may not have been aware but there are switches for the lights bulbs which lights up the hall way outside of your room at night if you wish to step out. We have taken your feedback in to consideration and have worked on the things mentioned in your review, therefore other guests will not have this experience during their stay with us at La Haut. We are happy that you and your family enjoyed the views and the infinity pool during your stay with us. We deeply regret that you failed to enjoy particular aspects of your stay with us, as it is not in our interest to have unhappy guests. Once again, thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention. Warms Regards, La Haut Resort.

Just stayed at this delightful property for 5 days. Not for the luxury crowd and more of an eco-experience, but we are seniors fro the US and found no comfort lacking! Delightful and extremely comfortable accommodation—large room, balcony with furniture and hammock; kitchenette, and best of all, a perfect view of the highlight of St. Lucia, the Pitons. Warm, friendly, helpful staff. Unforgettable visit! Highly recommended!

Really lovely old plantation gardens and buildings with a view to die for. It is such a shame that more attention could not be given to the rooms. True ours was the basic and it was rustic but comfortable enough. But WiFi instructions incorrect; thin walls; no plates in the kitchenette and Spanish instructions on the microwave! Good value if not too fussy.

We loved our stay at La Haut - we stayed in one of the Premium Vista (Cashew Rooms). These rooms are more expensive but I'd say it was worth it for the private deck. Pros: - Gorgeous infinity pool with some of the best views I saw on the trip - Plantation vibes with animals on the premise and lots of space to walk around -Great service/housekeeping -Very comfy beds - Well-stocked kitchenette Cons: - The restaurant onsite that's privately owned was a bit of a letdown. Tips: - Bring a sleep mask as in our room, not all the windows had shades

Us and them wrote a review Jan 2023
Two couples spent a week at this resort. We showed up in the dark and were greeted by security who checked us into our rooms. Was expecting Mexico but was given Cuba. Old and broken was the design choice. We were hungry so went to the restaurant. It was 8 pm and they were closed but they decided to stay and feed us anyway. Meal was amazing and the drinks went down great. Woke up the next day feeling rested , it had been a very long trip. The beds are amazingly comfortable king sized. Opened the door and was greeted by the most amazing views. Ok so it’s growing on me. Went down to the owners pool which is spectacular. Met Joe the owner who invited us for a cocktail later in the evening. Had a great time learning about the history of the plantation and his family. We ended up having a really nice time here despite some things that need to be addressed. The good. Their staff are very friendly. The restaurant, which is contracted out, is very good. Setting cannot be beat. If you are a photographer…wow! Staff have nothing but good and positive things to say regarding pay and how they are treated. Very short drive to downtown Sufreir. The not so good. Lots of broken furniture in rooms and around the pool. Wife put her foot through the deck beside the pool. It’s rotten. It’s a creeper, voyeurs paradise. Windows have curtains you can see through easily at night right into the bedroom and bathroom. Noise from guests in the upstairs rooms. Sounded like a heard of Buffalo when anyone did anything upstairs. Internet in and around room is poor at best. Restaurant has very good internet. Lost internet due to router needing reset. Told front desk. Waited almost 2 days then mentioned it to security guard Glenroy. He fixed it right away. Our door would only close if we dead bolted it. We basically had to leave the key in it all the time we were there. Asked to have it fixed but it never was. Pool had two lounge chairs only. All in all we had a great time here, despite its flaws.

Great value for the money. The room was spacious, bed comfy, the view of Pitons from the balcony is utterly stunning. The room even has a little kitchenette, equipped with a small camping stove , few pots and pans and a tea kettle. It was extremely useful . Housekeeping was immaculate. The room was cleaned and refreshed every day while we were out and whatever issues we had were addressed and resolved immediately. Great location, you are about 5 minutes drive from Soufriere The infinity pool is breathtaking. Joe, the property owner is the definition of island hospitality and good vibes. Will absolutely stay there again. CONS: no TV in the rooms. Wifi is ok, but not streaming quality.

This is a fairly simple and rustic resort with spectacular views of the Pitons and Soufrie from its mountainside perch. There is not much that this place offers other than the rooms, the pool, and a restaurant. The rooms are simple and clean, and ours had a decent sized kitchen area (some had a smaller space) and simple but functional bathroom. After 4p nothing can get done. If you need more sheets or towels you need to wait for the next day. The staff is helpful but their availability is limited. There are pool/beach towels available at the registration building. Most rooms have AC. We had an issue the first night with our accommodations, and unfortunately nothing could be changed until the next day. But the next day, the staff went out of their way to make sure that we would be happy with our new rooms. my biggest piece of advice is that if you want to stay here please make sure you get an email with pictures of what your exact room is going to look like so that your expectations can be fully met. You will pay more for this accommodation than you are used to because this is the southern part of the island and accommodations are limited.

The front office staff are amazing. The location of the hotel is second to none with stunning views of the Pitons. The rooms themselves are well stocked but could use some updates. The restaurant on site is currently closed which made meals a little challenging without a vehicle but again the front desk staff were extremely helpful
