This cute boutique hotel was suggested by our sailing charter, Island Windjammers. Very clean, eclectic, waterfront and a great breakfast!! It is very conveniently located to shopping, restaurants, nightlife and did I mention OCEAN FRONT. Super service and a great stay.

Great location on the beach and Front Street. Staff couldn't be friendlier! They call it the governor's mansion as I believe at one time it was his house. Best breakfast in town! Stayed on the newly built fisherman suites. Nice and large. They will take care of you Carol Donnette Glenda Janet and more

We stayed in a beachfront deluxe for three nights post cruise. The hotel is apparently undergoing some renovation; our room was large but the furnishings seemed tired. The view from the balcony was very nice indeed - but only until about noon, when the sun made it impossible to sit on the balcony and began to really heat up the...

A tropical charming old hotel, on the beach, that has wonderful large (in the new part) rooms. The location is prime! The hotel restaurant is devine. The staff is friendly. I wish I had asked to see the older rooms, because with the attention to detail, I would imagine that they would have been spectacular.

Nice old hotel in Phillipsburg near everything. Stayed here 2 nights before taking Island Windjammer Cruise. I stayed in the old section of the hotel. I think they are remodeling and updating this section. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom shows some age. Screw holes in tile where things used to be attached. No toilet paper holder, the...

I had a chance to stop by the hotel since I was in country the day before to confirm things because I was told about the renovation and the slow low season mentality. I was really glad I did cause the room I had reserved was not available and they had me downgraded to a motel style room. When I...

I have the pleasure of eating at the restaurant. I have rested in the rooms and the internet is excellent. Located right in the heart of Philipsburg. The best of two worlds one side you have shopping and the other is the beach, what more can you ask for.

The staff here are wonderful, the hotel itself is in a prime location with great views, and the rooms are bigger than the small price tag would indicate. We accidentally left an item in our room - after checking out - with a large sum of cash. We called after we realized what had happened - about 2 hours after...

We stayed in this hotel for three nights, and our suite was amazing. There was a large seating area with a comfortable three seater chair. The other furniture was lovely, and the four poster bed complete with mosquito net was superb and most comfortable. The view from the balcony overlooking the marina and beach walkway was second to none. Unfortunately...

This hotel allows itself to be listed on every travel site with rooms available only to have minimum stays and no rooms available . A confusing and unethical practice for advertising. Shame on management for wasting people's time with this practice.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"The Pasanggrahan Royal Guesthouse is St. Maarten's oldest and most charming inn. Formerly a rooster farm, Governor's home, V.I.P. guest house, and Dutch Royal Residence, it is ideally located in Philipsburg on a white sand beach amidst enchanting tropical gardens and enclosed within its original stone walls: a green oasis hidden on Front Street. A national landmark and one of the last bastions of West Indian culture, the Pasanggrahan is secluded and offbeat in the heart of St. Maarten’s capital, and it's a minute's stroll to shops, restaurants, casinos, banks and other institutions and activities. This authentic, colonial style inn has all the special features of a larger hotel including concierge service, the Sidney Greenstreet Bar, boardwalk beach bar, complementary chaise lounges, beach towels, and social hour. “A special place for special people” General Information"This vintage West Indian-style guesthouse has a prime spot on the beach in Philipsburg, sandwiched between the busy, narrow main street of Philipsburg and the harbor. It's set back and shaded under tall trees, a charming relic from another time. In fact, this was once the summer home of the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina, and the interior has a gracious, late-19th-century feel, with peacock bamboo chairs, Indian spool tables, and a gilt-framed oil portrait of the Dutch queen. The small- to medium-size accommodations have queen-size, double, or king-size beds with four-poster designs; some are in the main building and others are in an adjoining annex. The finest have genuine colonial flair, with antique secretaries and four-posters swaddled in mosquito netting, madras valances, hand-stitched quilts, beamed ceilings, and still life paintings. Set among lush palms is the harborfront Pasanggrahan Restaurant, which specializes in fresh fish caught by the hotel's own deep-sea charter fishing boat and family-style dinners. ... more   less
