This hotel was clean and the front desk staff were pleasant. The view from our balcony and the pool was spectacular. They seem to be in the middle of expanding. Our room was clean and comfortable. The 2 restaurants available have limited menus but the food is adequate. The only real issue for me was that we stayed for 4 days and the pool was never cleaned and it needed it. It was very quiet which is what we were looking for. Attached to the hotel area is a dolphin training site so you can watch the staff feed and train the dolphins during the day. This is certainly not a classy hotel but it is clean and quiet. Perfect for a rest. It also has a diving operation attached to it.

Room Tip: I believe that most rooms face the ocean but the upper floors provide a better view.

The Hotel was clean, the staff was great and the food was excellent! We go scuba diving somewhere in the world every February and the diving in St. Kitts was exceptional. Jeff, the dive master, was the BEST WE HAVE HAD IN OVER 20 years of diving. We stayed 8 nights and I would, without hesitation, recommend the BIRD ROCK BEACH HOTEL AS A SUPER DIVE DESTINATION.

Without doubt the worst place I have ever stayed in. The reception staff who checked us in was very nice but from there it went down hill. The whole place is a total mess and needs money by the bucketful spending on it. Cracks in the walls and walkways, peeling paint or new paint that had been splashed on the floor. Our room, was awful, a bed, one bedside table, a deck that had a chair that wouldn't fit under it, sliding patio doors that didn't, locks on the door that wouldn't, a bathroom shower with failing taps and only half a waste outlet (the other half was under the tiles that had been laid over the original ones,it was horrid. The restaurant was disgusting with staff that didn't have a clue, the food wasn't fit for animals. For super I had icecream. It looks nothing at all lick the promo photos. What beach there is is foul and covered in rubbish. The walkway in front of the hotel is littered with builders rubble. The whole place is a nightmare and I would NEVER go back no matter what. Do yourselves a favour and avoid it. Ebookers should be ashamed of themselves for even having this available, another company I will never use again,

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻: at 7 PM, I had to knock on the front door to the lobby before the desk clerk would come and unlock it for my entry. My roommate had already checked in the day before. Although he reported assistance with his bags down the long walk to the room, I had no such assistance or a second key! I did not even get directions to the room and lost my way twice. Not good. 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺: The room size is OK, with two full (it might have been queen) beds. The a/c unit worked very well; the water pressure was good and hot water comes relatively quickly. The towels are worn, and very rough; and somewhat discolored. The floor towel one of the days was actually ragged; and one of the days it was missing. The wash basin plug didn't work, so it drained slowly. The cupboard is overdue replacement: it is rotted at the base at one corner. The hangers in the room were inadequate for two people. There is no microwave or fridge (not a complaint - just an observation). To get ice, one has to make the walk back to the dining/cafeteria area. The windows don't close tightly, so this allowed a couple of flies and bugs to enter. My roommate saw a cockroach. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: The staff is friendly (you'll scarcely find anything less in the Caribbean). The meals were tasty, and more than adequate. This one area is where Bird Rock excels - although this didn't hold true for each and every meal, but generally, this was satisfactory. Internet, however, sucked in a grand way. In the rooms, it was extremely weak and spotty; in the conference room, where you'd expect to find the strongest signals, it was absolutely non-existent. It was either weak or most times absent in the dining area as well, just across from the conference room. Incredible. 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀: The grounds are well-kept. Yes, there are cats and hens and crowing roosters around, but I did not find them a problem; in fact, they added an island feeling. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹: I don't know what this hotel cost; I was a guest of the conference, and was paid for. However, low rates or not, I would opt not to stay here were I coming back to Basseterre for any reason of my own. I imagine that this is a family business; but I suggest some investment-money be poured into it to lift the standard. I predict a nice return on investment if this is done. Basseterre - and St Kitts in general - is too nice to not make the ROI generous. That Bird Rock sits right on the ocean front is a plus. I hope management gets that loan or investment injection and take it from here; if they did, I might be back.

I returned to St. Kitts and Bird Rock Beach hotel from 10-15 Sept 2019 to attend some Caribbean Premier League cricket matches. The hotel is locally owned and operated and reflects the friendliness and relaxed attitude you'll find throughout the island. The room I had was clean and comfortable; the bathroom was small but clean and had very hot water if you want it; and the air conditioning was excellent. There were only a few other guests in the hotel because of the season but the restaurant/bar was open and the food was great. Of course it was prepared to order so it was not immediately presented like you'll find in the US but then again this is the Caribbean and it was just cooked! The pool was clean although I enjoyed swimming in the ocean the best. I still do not dive but there were some divers there who all were raving about their dives and generally seemed to be having a great holiday. The reviews about the lack of elevators is accurate so if you have trouble with steps I'd strongly recommend you ask for a ground floor room. Overall this is not a great choice if you expect a US-style hotel but if you are looking for a friendly, truly Caribbean experience for a reasonable rate this is an excellent choice.
