We had a magical stay here and loved this quieter end of the Island of Tobago. The hosts were completely on top of their game providing loads of support and information as well as being great company. But Gloucester Place is large with plenty of space to relax and outstanding views. There was even a blow hole to watch. There's the excellent Glasgow Bar just a couple of minutes walk away and Marcia's which provides great take away food (it's fine to eat it at Gloucester Place). We had an excellent meal in Parlatuvier in a local house overlooking the beach. The beach at Parlatuvier is beautiful as is the beach at Englishman's Bay. If you're after a few more shops and bars, then Castara is at most 15 minutes drive away. In summary the hosts are wonderful and delightful, Gloucester Place has all the comforts and amenities you could want .

I found this place online a few years ago and knew if I traveled to Tobago this would definitely be a good B&B stop. Before we arrived, Bea, responded to my questions and suggested we book traditionally when the Air Bnb site did not work for her place. She never sent us information about the area but she and Wynn were very responsive to book us for African drumming at the Boathouse and a rainforest walk with Newton George as asked. We followed their directions and arrived down their steep driveway to a beautiful view of a cliff with a blowhole at it's base and tropical flora. The wrap around verandah offers nice breezes and a relaxing place to be . Inside the folk art that they collected from their travels were a wonderful touch. They were kind enough to offer breakfast before our early morning hike (we just had coffee) and prepared a meal after our long hike. Despite us being the only guests, I felt they were a little distracted with 2 events they were having with friends at their house during our stay. Great location to explore the quieter north end.

We stayed just a few nights and regretted not planning to stay longer. Wyn and B are THE best B&B hosts we’ve ever had and we travel extensively. Their home is stunning, the rooms are spotless, the views are stunning. You cannot go wrong staying here!

Our family spent a wonderful few nights at Gloucester Place. We were looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay - and found it here. The view is incredible, overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the many trees and tropical shrubs on the property are host to the great variety of birds found in this northern part of the island, close to the rainforest. Our hosts Bea and Win could not have been more welcoming and were very generous in helping us to plan trips and giving us beach recommendations close to Parlatuvier. We loved everything about this part of the island, the people whom we met, Englishman's Bay, a trip up to Charlotteville and Pirate's Bay, a rainforest hike with Fitzroy and the village of Castara. Our teenagers were also very happy spending time in the infinity pool, eating the wonderful breakfasts and relaxing in our cool and airy rooms. It is definitely useful to have a car here. We hope to be back - and to spend time in Essex Cottage too. Thanks Bea and Win for a very memorable vacation!

We went here on the recommendation of friends who knew we wanted to unwind and have peace and quiet. It was exactly what we wanted. It is located in a very quiet place and if night life is what you’re looking for, this is not for you. Hosts Bea and Win are fantastic and great to talk to. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our pool timee and our walks to the pub nearby. Cannot wait to return!

We stayed both in Gloucester Place (the house) and in Essex Cottage on the same property. Bea and Win were wonderful hosts and it was enjoyable hearing about their experiences living and teaching all over the world. They arranged a bird watching tour for us and also provided lots of information about beaches and other sites, as well as reservations for dinner at Joanne's house in the village (recommended for good food and conversation). Breakfasts at Gloucester Place (served at the kitchen bar) were delicious and ample and included bananas and grapefruit grown on the property. The coffee was great! Bea even prepared a birthday cake for us one evening. Light lunches are available and even dinner with advanced notice (prices are posted in the handy guide in each room). Guests may store small quantities of items in the refrigerator. The Concord room in the guesthouse is large, has air conditioning and has walls of screened windows on two sides for great views and a good breeze when the wind is right. Comfortable bed and pillows and nice linens. And we enjoyed the pool - small but what a setting! We moved to Essex Cottage after 4 nights and liked it even more. Very charming and somewhat rustic with wooden shuttered windows that open all along the front and side with great views out to the tropical vegetation and down to the Caribbean and great bird watching from the windows and the veranda (including fruit bats at night that visited the feeder when we put out bananas). Bed very comfortable and with good mosquito net (there weren't too many mosquitoes but a lot of no-see-ums). Kitchen was well equipped for meal preparation and had a full sized refrigerator. As others have stated, you may want to stock up on groceries in Scarborough, although we were able to find in the stores in Parlatuvier: eggs, onions, garlic, potatoes, rice, pasta, canned milk, juices, snacks, fruit and a few veggies. Found butter and cheese a bit further afield in Roxborough. Even found some decent wine at the store by the jetty in Parlatuvier. We would definitely stay here again (and hope to).

We spent 5 nights in the Essex Cottage and it was a wonderful second half to our Trinidad and Tobago vacation. After 4 days of active group birding over at Asa Wright Nature Centre on Trinidad, it was lovely just to be doing nothing but hanging out on the porch sharing fruit with the birds or chatting with Bea and Win down at the big house. Amusingly, several bird species that had eluded me in the mountains showed up in plain view at Gloucester Place. In addition, there are several groups of the official bird of Tobago, the Cocrico. You might not be delighted by their enthusiastic yelling at 6 AM but I loved it. The cottage was well appointed, with a comfortable bed and full kitchen. There is no AC, but between the bank of shutters on the seaward wall open to the night air and a floor fan we never missed it. There is netting on the bed to keep away curious bugs, but we didn't see one mosquito or other flying biter while we were there. The corner porch with views of the Caribbean is where we spent most of our time. Bea and Win are reason enough to stay here. They are friendly but not pushy, and very helpful with arranging dinners and booking guides. They have fascinating life stories and seem genuinely interested in all their guests. We spent a few hours a day down on their comfy verandah, and not just to use the wifi. Gloucester Place is far outside the major tourist areas on Tobago, and that's just how we like it. The island isn't big, so as long as you have a car, you can make a day trip to any part of it, and dinner runs to Castara are only 15 minutes, even with our cautious driving (watch out for goats). There's a fruit stand in one direction and a small store for staples in the other. What more do you need? We would recommend this place to anyone.

We just love the rustic charm of Essex Cottage, Parlatuvier, Tobago. The cottage is fully self- contained and private, yet you can enjoy the pool in the garden of the main house, Gloucester Place. Win and Bea drop by from time to time with bunches of bananas, lemons and grapefruit from the garden and you are always welcome to call at the house for a coffee, a chat or a book swap. It's not fancy but it's clean, self contained and has a great outside seating area with views down to the garden, infinity pool and the ocean. Fill the feeders with bits of fruit and watch the birds come to share your breakfast! We love throwing the shutters open first thing in the morning to hear the sound of the waterfall, the ocean .....and yes at times the tropical rain. Parlatuvier is a small fishing village on Northside road on the Caribbean coast. It's a short walk down the road to the village where you can shop for provisions and watch the fishermen bringing in their catch. A short drive in the opposite direction brings you to Englishman's Bay which is one of the prettiest beaches you will find on the island with a nice restaurant and bar right on the beach. A little further on is Castara...more restaurants and shops and safe swimming beaches. It's also just a short drive to the rainforest which can be driven in a loop taking in Charlotteville and Speyside. You need a car to fully appreciate this side of Tobago - the island isn't big but this location is a distance from the main tourist resorts.....but that's why we like it. That said, nowhere takes very long to drive to and it's no great chore to drive to the more substantial supermarkets to stock the fridge and cupboards or visit the other beaches on the island. Thanks Win and Bea for another lively stay.....see you in 2019..

We stayed in the self catering Essex Cottage. A light and airy home that appears to be floating above a precipitous valley The views from the terrace are to die for and the use of the infinity pool is the icing on the cake! Win and Bea have designed everything so thoughtfully and it is equipped with everything you might need. They could not be more helpful and charming. The gardens are a picture and the wildlife endlessly fascinating g. We had s shamelessly lazy time and would return in a shot!

As each review before ours states: the emphasis is on natural beauty, spacious relaxation and scenery. Plus the air conditioner is lovely and quiet. The breakfasts were varied for all 6 days. Minutes down the road are Castara's parties and all the action one would want... Thanks to Beatrice and Wynne for their hospitality and fascinating conversations. Definitely will be staying with you again. Keep well.
