We stayed at the Freeport Resort the week between Christmas and New Years. The resort is located in a very depressed area. Most of the neighboring resorts (including a casino) were closed and boarded up. They had not been repaired since the 2004 huricanes. The...More
On the drive from the airport to the Freeport Resort and Club, you observe that this section of the Bahama Islands appears to be a bit depressed, i.e. you see a lot of half-completed buildings, developments and homes. Some formerly open hotels/resorts are shuttered. The...More
We have been there twice and are going back this year. It is a beautiful, well maintained place to go. The beaches are only a short drive away with diving available. Two gold courses close by if you want to play. The pool is wonderful...More
We went here on our honeymoon as a gift from a friend with a time share. It was awful. First, it is in the middle of nowhere. The beach is 2+ miles away. Second, you are at the mercy of their drivers to take you...More

The beach has loungers available at the restaurant for $2 but I don"t remember seeing umbrellas. Since we ate at the restaurant (Tony Macaroni's) we weren't charged for the loungers. The resort had extra towels in the closet and probably would have provided more if asked. Farther up the beach there are other places to eat and rent loungers and maybe umbrellas. When we were there, umbrellas were not needed. I strongly recommend eating at Tony Macaroni's. Order the roasted conch and a pina colada. You won't be disappointed.
