Well then the Beaufort has changed hands. Now owned and operated by a very very very experienced restaurateur who previously was at the Priory in Caerleon. We last went to the Beaufort in January this year as a couple in a party of 6 (see my previous review) it was frankly sub standard,in that review I said "I do hope...

Myself and two colleagues were in the village very early waiting to meet another colleague to go on to a conference. Nothing appeared open although we could small some very nice food being cooked. We went into the lobby and were met by the owner who was in the middle of getting breakfast ready for her resident guests. Basically she...

This is an old coaching inn that has been pleasantly remodelled. Bedrooms in the hotel are a decent size, modern and quite comfortable. They are also quiet. The made to order breakfast is very good as is the food in the dining room. Raglan is a great place from which to explore such places as the Wye Valley,Brecon Beacons etc and...

This is the second time we have visited here since Miguel took over. The first was on a Tuesday lunchtime for my birthday this time was on a Sunday at my daughters request, for her birthday and she was not disappointed. The quality of food, wine and service was absolutely excellent and the prices didn't break the bank. From my...

Husband and I booked on line for two nights stay. When we arrived on a Tuesday despite me using a walking stick we were shown up to the second floor to our double room. (No lift) No chance of a lower room. We were asked if the twin would be ok or did we want the beds pushing together to...

A friend and I recently stayed at the Beaufort Arms in Raglan and it was not an experience I am likely to forget. We had planned a boys weekend away cycling, leaving the wives and kids at home. On arrival there was a large painted notice “Cyclists welcome” though welcome was not a word I would use to describe what...

The restaurant had a nice fresh display, with a good selection to order. The staff were very pleasant and friendly (the staff were Spanish, Portuguese, and From Switzerland that served us). The meals were very nice but overpriced with not enough vegetables. The bar and restaurant was very busy, but the only thing that spoiled our visit was the annoying...

A most relaxing lunch with great food, great service, and wines to really compliment the meals. A completely un-rushed few hours spent in a comfortable atmosphere where the staff genuinely make every effort to be helpful

Have visited three times recently with friends for lunch. At our first visit I had garlic prawns to start, followed by excellent hake and home cooked chips, all for just £10. Next time, the hake had been moved to the £16 menu deal but we stuck to the cheapest option and all enjoyed 2 courses for £11, an increase which...

The display of fish and prawns on ice should have been a warning. None of the fish looked fresh, with dull eyes and a generally even more dull appearance. I was told that the hake had travelled all the way from South America, as though this was a good thing. I ordered bajan fish cakes that were like rubber balls,...

I was very upset and sorry to read about the issues you have raised. I would like the opportunity to speak with you and hopefully begin to rectify things. We like to feel that here at the Beaufort we are approachable, therefore we would have been more than happy to discuss and rectify any issues you had on the day,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beaufort is under new ownership since October 2015 and has had a vast refurbishment throughout. The rooms in the main hotel building have been tastefully decorated with rich sumptuous medieval colours whilst the Coach House has a fresh "New England" style decor. The inn oozes quality and old world charm. The food is brasserie style with a Mediterranean twist and you can see the fresh fish and seafood on display in the lovely display counter at the restaurant entrance. There are 2 course lunch and evening special menus which are very good value and a full a la carte menu complemented by a vast wine list. ... more   less
