The place has come under new management. The owner has bought the place just pre pandemic before everywhere in the uk went into lockdown. I came here with the folks and we booked a table on a warm summers evening . The menu is straight forward pub grub but the quality of the food and the way it was cooked was spot on. Don’t often find many pub places that can actually cook the meals they provide but this place does a really good job. It’s very clean and tables are spread out. The staff are attentive, friendly and want to make the business work and see customers come back to support their town. They do play music inside and they have a little outdoor seating area around the back by the church which probably could be developed in time once things return to normal and people want to venture out again. Be great for this place to get the support it needs at these testing times. As they say use it or lose it ! Neath can’t really afford to lose decent places for hard working people who want to enjoy where they live.

First time here and I was impressed with the quality of the homemade food, it certainly shows how good the Chef is. Beautifully cooked Rump Steak, hand cut chips, tomato, mushroom and a little twist from the norm with a beautiful onion chutney, very creative. The couple who were with us had the lasagna (beautifully made,, very good size portion) and the seafood linguine was also ordered, again, beautifully made, lots of seafood and a whole peice of Salmon on the top! Fab. Prices are not cheap but you are definitely paying for the quality and getting the quantity. It's well worth spending that little extra. Having said the above unfortunately I also feel I need to moan (sorry, but I believe in giving honest feed back as it gives the chance to improve where needed) The starters my partner and myself had. We both ordered the garlic prawns and while that dish was also well presented and beautifully flavoured and cooked, there really wasn't much of it for the £6.50 each price tag. Guys, please take a look at that because it's such a shame that the starters were not value for money. 4 Prawns and a touch of salad does not justify that price. £6.50 is ok for a starter at the quality you provide but you were way off with the amount on the starters, I felt a little cheated and wished we had saved the £13 for the starters and just gone for the main. Having finished my moan I can assure you we loved the food and will definitely be back. I would be wary about ordering a starter though which is a shame. Would be great if you could look at this? Best wishes to you all and carry on the good work! P.S your waitress was a delight (cant remember her name, sorry) very polite and chatty.

Evening meal visit. Tasty food, good size portions, friendly staff. Nice decor, parked right outside. Menu not huge but understandable given the current situation. The third time we've been there and always excellent. Will definitely be returning.

Just returned from a get together with family., 9 adults 2 toddlers. We were originally seated at the wrong table and had to move. (Okay, it happens) Food in general was really good. However, 2 meals were sent back cold and a few mentioned that the food was slightly over salted. It became extremely busy and service was slow due to limited staff. When we eventually asked about dessert, there were only 3 choices available. Now bearing in mind this was Saturday afternoon I dread to think how the Saturday night and Sunday lunch would be received with limited resources. I would also suggest that the children's meals and desserts were served first. A little more preperation and thought needed. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism as the restaurant itself is lovely.

Thank you to all the staff and the chef for a lovely Christmas Day with the family. This place has been refurbished since my last visit and I believe taken over. Pleasant surprise and the chef did some really tasty dishes which ranged from chorizo and black pudding scotch eggs to scallops and then the traditional turkey, Christmas pudding and cheese board. The tables were nicely laid out and separated so no one was on top of each other and you had your own private space. Overall a lovely day with my family. The courses were spread out in a timely way so it didn’t feel like we were rushed to eat one thing after another. My only criticism would be that there was maybe too much in the way of portion size ( family of 3 could have fed another two people with what was left) and we ordered champagne but there were no champagne glasses which can be rectified for next time .
