I stayed at the Althaharra Hotel for a few days at the end of June 2016 with my wife. What a lovely place to spend a few days in the true highlands, old fashioned luxury at an affordable price, comfortable rooms, loads of hot water. Food equal to the best London hotels. Staff very obliging. Locals bar attached, catch up... More

We were really looking forward to our travels at the top of Scotland and in early October the choice is understandably few and far between as a lot of places close for the season. We were prepared to travel inland from the coast to explore from this remote base, which is what we like - and we had high hopes... More

We chose the Altnaharra Hotel for a "get away" long weekend in mid to late October partly because we love the North West of Scotland (we live in Perthshire) and partly for the good reviews we read on such websites as these. The hotel has one bedroom on the ground floor, which we chose because my husband has difficulty with... More

Stayed here on Tuesday 11.10.16 Arrived after a six hour drive to meet our son & daughter in law for a surprise for my wife's birthday. We sat in the reception lounge area for over 20 minutes & we're not approached once by the lady in the office( not ten feet away) to say welcome or can I offer you... More

We stayed in the log cabin in the grounds of the hotel that provides cheap accommodation for walkers and cyclists. It consists of three single bedrooms and a bathroom - all quite basic, but clean and very good value for money. It also comes with breakfast in the main hotel which is excellent. This is a perfect base for doing... More

This hotel was perfectly located for my travels giving me a convenient place to stay as I venture away briefly from the north coast and used it as an opportunity to drive through more beautiful scenery of the Highlands. My single room was comfortable although the cleaning could have been better (in plugging in an appliance behind the bedside dresser... More

stayed one night, arrived in the afternoon not the warmest of welcome when we arrived, but did improve , our room was small but very nice , bins had not been emptied , meals were excellent, not many staff so can understand some things being missed, can't do everything , would stay again.

Lovely old place this, but staff, one in particular needs a sharp lesson in customer relations, please and thanks would be a start. Maybe it was just a bad day for her, but the owners needs to get to grips with this.

We passed this hotel yesterday (24/09/16), saw the sign said it was open, checked the time (12.15 pm) against the opening times on the board and found all the doors locked! There were some lights on inside but no apparent life inside. We were hungry and had some money to spend on lunch but these people really are not interested... More

A nice looking hotel from the outside with luxury connotations. However, with the current management you are unlikely to feel welcome and many visitors will no doubt cut their stay short. A hotel with good potential but in need of a management shake up.
