The Amble Inn is often celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere and cleanliness, with guests consistently commending its spotless rooms and well-maintained common spaces. The hotel's spacious and well-equipped accommodations are a hit, especially for those traveling with pets or preferring ground-floor access.
While the prime location makes exploring Northumberland a breeze, some guests feel the dining options are overpriced despite the tasty offerings. Service quality has received mixed feedback, with the friendliness of the staff sometimes overshadowed by slow and disorganized service.

Detailed Reviews
After a visit to Amble we called in for lunch. Tables are very well set out and, although we hadn’t booked, the waitress kindly found a table that was accessible for my disabled father. Fish and chips with mushy peas were very good as was the fish finger sandwich. Prices are reasonable and the service was really good. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back in the near future.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from our holiday to this hotel. We were amazed at the size of the room, the en suite bathroom was huge, the refreshments tray was well needed after a long day of travelling. The bed was really big. Checking in was very easy, social distancing was adhered to. The staff all wore masks and there was plenty of hand sanitizer around. The food was hot and delicious when it came. If you want a Sunday Carvery it's best to book as it gets really busy.

Just back from a five night stay with my daughter and her dog.Was a little dubious having read some of the reviews, however in our opinion these were totally unfounded. On arrival at any hotel having checked in i always carry out a thorough inspection of room and bathroom and i have to say both were spotlessy clean and housekeeping was excellent during our stay,so top marks to all involved. The room we had was room 14 on the ground floor which affords the luxury of an exterior door to the car park area so taking Dennis out for peepees etc was really easy.
Breakfast was first class despite being busy each morning, yes there were times when items had ran out but these were replenished within minutes except for fruit juice one morning as theyd obviously ran out,but bearing in mind what we,ve all just gone through this was perfectly acceptable, buffet style breakfast with just about all you could want for and without exception cooked to perfection, dogs are allowed in restaraunt in raised areas. We dined every night at the hotel so it cant of been too bad,not the cheapest as two mains and two drinks worked out around ÂŁ34 but eating out has as we all know is no longer a cheap do....have to say the speed at which every meal came out was outstanding and a real credit to the kitchen staff,if you,ve ever worked in a restaurant you,ll know the pressure involved but the service here was simply the best.
So if youre looking for a base to explore the wonderfull beaches around this area i would highly recommend this establishment.

In the interest of not wanting to sound too negative, I’ll start with the positives - we had an outside door in our room which was very handy for taking the dog out for toilet breaks.
The bed was huge and very comfortable.
Courtney was very helpful when our electronic key cards didn’t work.
Unfortunately, the negatives far outweighed the positives in this hotel.
There was no lounge to relax in. The only option was our room (which was very dark) or the restaurant and we would have welcomed the opportunity to relax on something more comfortable than dining chairs. A sofa area would have been brilliant.
The WiFi was poor, both in the rooms and public areas.
The shower pressure was awful, it took so long to rinse the shampoo out of my hair! There was a chunk or eroded enamel full of rust in the bath which we had to stand on while showering.
I asked reception for toilet roll and was told someone would bring it along right away, this didn’t happen. Housekeeping knocked a little while later and when she seen we were still in, said she would come back in 30 mins to clean our room, when we had gone out. She said she would top up the toilet roll then. We returned 6 hours later and the room hadn’t been cleaned, nor had any toilet roll been left. I had to ask a third member of staff for some.
Went for breakfast first two mornings at 8.45 and disappointed to se there was no fresh fruit or pastries. We assumed they didn’t offer this however, on third morning, we were down at 7.30am and they had fruit and croissants. Disappointing that if you don’t go as soon as breakfast opens go don’t get their full selection.
Location - it’s in the middle of an industrial estate and is 1 mile from the marina. You have to walk through housing estates or along main road to get there so not ideal.
One member of staff had a shockingly bad attitude. Her manager, on hearing how she spoke to me, followed me and apologised on her behalf, saying she’d had a long day but acknowledged it was no excuse.
An hour after checking out, they called me and said I hadn’t paid the supplement for my dog. I advised I paid this on check in, when they took the full amount from my card, and while on the phone, confirmed this after checking my online banking. This was very unprofessional of them not to have double checked this before calling me but actually, was fitting given the rest of our stay.
I have noticed they advertise Warkworth Castle as being 1 mile away from their hotel (source: booking.com). This is incorrect, it is actually 2.2 miles.

A modern building near a main road. It has decent size rooms and reasonable sound proofing. If you open a window then the traffic noise is intrusive. The decor is neutral and matches.
With foreign travel so difficult, hotels near tourist destinations are very busy and this place was full which may help explain the several problems we had.
They checked us in fairly promptly and confirmed that we were staying for two nights and reconfirmed our booking for dinner that evening.
You can imagine our frustration when we were told that there was no such reservation when we arrived in the restaurant. There was a no-show so we were given their table after some negotiation.
The television in my room would not come on. I explained the problem at the reception and was told that someone would come to help. Later that night I tried again as no one had materialized. The next day at breakfast I made a third attempt and was again assured they would attend to it promptly. Later in my fourth and final attempt to get someone to look at it I told them I would not leave the lobby until someone came. They said there was nothing they could do but would try later.... Eventually a manager replaced the remote which was faulty. I never watched the damn thing but I was quite frustrated by the experience.
My key card stopped working the next day and so did both those of my parents who were next door. They had been programmed for one day despite our being confirmed and charged for two. Again irritating. There are no phones in the rooms so every problem requires a walk to reception and then waving to get attention.
The staff were all young and beautiful but not very knowledgable, eg' we have no wine list but we have both kinds, red and white' - which turned out to be not quite true, they have five of each and some are quite good value. They were polite and attentive but too busy.
Portions of food were very generous and mostly it was well presented and tasted fine. The menu is enormous suggesting much is preprepared and reheated. We enjoyed it anyway. The bacon at breakfast is excellent, not too salt and generously cut.
The lift creaks and groans in the most alarming way. It moves astonishingly slowly too. Something thing out of a comedy film and most odd in a new building.
It's fine but they need more staff and some training.

We stayed here for 4 nights last week as a base to explore the Northumberland coast. I had been a little nervous about what to expect after reading some of the reviews but needn’t have worried.
I can honestly say that I cannot fault this place whatsoever. The rooms are modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. We took our Jack Russell with us and were allocated a room with a door that gave direct access to outside which avoided having to exit through the reception area - perfect.
The breakfast buffet was superb - hot, fresh and tasty, with a huge selection including freshly prepared fruit salads, warm croissants and various teas. The only thing I would suggest would be a bottle of hand sanitiser on the buffet table.
The staff we encountered were all friendly, attentive and helpful.
Highly recommended!

Went for Sunday lunch with young grandchildren, venue itself is lovely and staff are friendly but food is not up to scratch, husband and I ordered Sunday lunch which was lukewarm and tasted like school canteen food. Kids food was your normal fries beans etc which was ok but nothing special. Grandchild wanted ice cream which was 1 scoop in a bowl, no sauce, sprinkles or wafer. Spent nearly £55 which was not value for money and I’m afraid unless they totally rethink the meals we will not be returning which is a shame.

Stayed here for 3 nights with wife and dog.
Hotel is dog friendly with specific ground floor rooms which have a second door leading directly outside and there are areas in vicinity to walk dogs.
Dogs are also allowed in areas of the bar / restaurant.
The staff here are very friendly and knowledgable about the area, recommending places of interest. The hotel is in a good place to use as a base for visiting the many castles/ beaches in this part of Northumberland.
Food is also of a very good standard.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and have booked to come back with the family.

We dined with friends so felt it was inappropriate to complain and spoil there day.
The men had fish and chips and they consisted of more batter than actual fish in fact there was so little fish meat, they looked from the outside like two "strips" of fish and could even have been a normal size and shaped fillet cut in two !! It was also soaked in cooking oil. The chips were no better and were lukewarm, obviously not cooked fresh and consisted of mostly scrappy pieces ! The peas that came with the meal were cold !!
I spent the rest of the afternoon with my stomach wishing i had not chosen the fish
Had we been by ourselves I would have immediately sent the meal back !!
With it being a dog friendly establishment and being local we thought we had found a good place to eat when having our dogs with us but on this experience we will not be returning !!

I believe all rooms to accommodate dogs are on the ground floor with a door straight out to the parking area and paths surrounding the hotel.
Sorry, only just seen this, we had fish and chips from a local chippie and took them back to our room!
Yes they are.
