Detailed Reviews
5 day break over New Year with friends didn't stay at the Wellwood but did frequent for drinks and food on several days and enjoyed every drink and meal. Great selection of drinks a very reasonable price and a we'll designed menu including carvery. The pub is quant, warm, dog friendly and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would like to thank all the staff and recommend that any one visiting the area drop in for a drink and or a meal.
Regards Mr PC.

Booked a room here as part of our coast & castles bike ride, secure bike storage in outside yard. Room clean & spacious, we had evening meals and breakfast the following day all hot & tasty, served by friendly staff. The place was busy on Sunday with a popular Sunday carvery.

We visited for Christmas Day. This was the first time we had Christmas dinner in a restaurant and after ready reviews we were very worried once we had paid for our dinner. However, the service was amazing and the food was delicious!!! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be paying a visit. Thank you for a lovely meal and a lovely day.

Very rude & unprofessional.
Waited several minutes to ask for a table to accommodate dogs & ourselves Finally got a ladies attention & asked for a table,10 mins later she came back & said sorry we can't accommodate a table for 5,so I asked if we could split& have a couple of tables??? Eventually we were seated with 2 tables. Husband went bar to get drinks while rest of party viewed menu. 2 members went & ordered their food with a chef pacing up & down chuntering to rest of the staff. I then went to order ours which the barman took our order, told me how much rang in the till to then say sorry carvery only. Obviously this was a last minute decision which I believe come from the unprofessional chefs. So we asked for our money back for the meals which the other table had ordered, luckily they did. Why didn't they say it was carvery only as we wouldn't have even ordered a drink. Also this pub should be serving meals til 7pm & it was only 4pm god knows how the chefs would cope. Can't believe how staff get away with rudeness & so unprofessional, maybe he needs career change. Disgusting....

We came here for the last night of our short break. We quite obviously unknowingly saved the best till last. This is a beautiful pub with polite staff and a lovely atmosphere.
I had the chicken tikka with the addition of a sourdough naan. Wow, absolutely beautiful, honestly it really was!!! As a cook of curries myself, I can honestly say that everything was very well cooked. Quite clearly all home cooked no shortcuts, just honest, trustworthy food.
I finished with the lotus biscoff cheesecake (pictured), absolutely beautiful.
This is a must visit place, which I rarely say.

We ate at the Wellwood Arms on the recommendation of our holiday property.
A great place with an excellent menu and friendly staff.
We were so impressed that we came back the following night to eat!
Dishes to recommend in particular are the Sunday carvery, chicken & ham pie, and the Piri piri chicken burger.
We didn’t realise about the parking on site until we left the first time we visited.

Went for a meal at the wellwood arms with family who came up to amble for a visit , I thought that the wellwood would be a fantastic place to take them as I have been many times and have never had a fault with anything at all . Once again they done did an amazing job with the food and all the staff were lovely, I myself had the fish and chips and they don't shy on portion sizes or great taste !!!! My niece had the smoked salmon and said it was absolutely beautiful , the vegetables it came with were flavourful and not over or undercooked and the salmon was perfect with a lovely crisp skin . My 2 brothers both had burgers and again were extremely happy with them we will all definitely be back upon there next visit .

Stayed with two other friends in the triple room. Large and clean and very pleasant. Split as a double bed and a single. Bathroom very large and great shower over the bath and adequate parking available in the car park at the rear From the minute we arrived, the service was also excellent and all staff super lovely and friendly. Yes, it is above a pub but even with a singer in the bar on both nights we stayed it really was not a problem, it wasn't that loud and they had stopped by 10pm - 10.30pm ish. Breakfast was amazing - well cooked and scrummy. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Really great menu with something for everyone, especially if one of you doesn't like fish! The starters are fantastic and we chose several to share. The restaurant has partitions for privacy and Covid safety. The staff are very friendly too. Overall great value for money and a very nice meal!
