Stayed for three nights on business and wish I had brought my wife. This hotel is in an idyllic setting at the end of a country lane which takes you to the hotel. The views from the grounds over the Solway are stunning. This is...More
We have a holiday home in Dumfries & Galloway and regularly visit Balcary Bay Hotel for dinner. Last weekend we decided to end the year with a long weekend break. Beautiful hotel, we stayed in room 10 which has a fantastic view out over the...More
Our short break satisfied a twelve-year itch, created when first finding my number one scenic view, as a non-resident. The view remains unsurpassed. The hotel provides old-fashioned ambience with which to enjoy it. Wifi, indeed phone signal, is extremely limited: great to get away from...More

Yes, dogs are welcome to stay with you in the rooms. We stayed here with our border terrier. in a garden view room. They even have dog bags in a dispenser in the grounds. A walk along the shore is a must. lots of interesting smells. I would advise against the longer version of the walk to balcary point as you would have to pass through a field of cows who react badly to dogs. We saw a woman being knocked over by the cows. Take your dog to this hotel and have a great time. We did.

It is a lovely secluded bay, forest tracks as well as the gardens, stretch of beach at the back of the hotel, there is also a cliff walk that can be taken from the hotel, no doubt they could supply you with more information.
