Perfect spot on the beach! We enjoyed the beach, the pool and the staff. The littles houses can use a little "face-lift", looks like they were abandoned for a while... But we were in only to sleep so it was OK. Nice commun area with a lot of tables and hamacs. Great place to go in group. The beach is...

Although for backpackers travelling by bus there is a 30min walk from the bus stop to the hotel, it is a beautiful secluded oasis that is so worth it when you get there! Enrique and Mariella are the most attentive hosts, and Enrique's meals are so delicious we couldn't tear ourselves away to eat anywhere else :-) Although slightly overpriced...

We live in Monteverde and needed to travel to southern Costa Rica for a family event. Wanting to break the trip into more sustainable chunks with our little guy, we decided to stay someplace on the central Pacific Coast for the night. Not wanting the busy-ness of Quepos or Dominical, I came across El Coquito on Trip Advisor and decided...

We spent 4 nights here and were treated royally with fresh tuna steaks one night and homemade sushi the next. All of the meals were excellent. We had miles of beach almost completely to ourselves. Enrique and Mariela went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms are simple but who needs more that a clean shower...

My favorite beach in Costa Rica only has a few options to stay. It is nice to see that the Hotel el Coquito is back up and running again with good managment. I was there last year for a few days and the place needed some work. They repaired quite a bit and now this sleeping, quaint simple hotel has...

This was a great place! We stayed in a room by the pool and bar area with the view of the ocean. There were monkeys and toucans outside our window! Great people there, too! :) Room was clean and comfortable! Can't wait to go back.

Stayed here while volunteering at the ASVO Turtle Conservatory across the street. Amazing location - the beach doesn't get any better. Playa Matapalo lacks the tourism-centric hustle and bustle that characterizes much of the Costa Rican coast, so prepare for an extremely calm and relaxing stay! The rooms have very basic amenities, but you can't beat the view. Management is...

El Coquito is so beautiful and comes with everything I love in a vacation spot. There are plenty of ways to have fun, tan, and relax. It is not touristy but more like a private paradise escape! I will definitely be back!

Again the manager has changed, this time I see it will get better. Its such a nice spot directly at the beach. And Enrique just decided to reduce the price for the bungalows. So now its a real hot spot. The food is good too. So go and have fun.
