Located at center of Tanah Rata, easy to get food around, and not far from the hillside. The room not so big and the facility normal, but clean and the staff very kind. No private parking lot, so need park the car along road, and at night a little bit noisy, since just along the road

I'm used to budget hotels and low cost travelling but I have to say this is possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in in Asia. So bad, I checked out a day early and cut short my Cameron Highlands trip! Check in - I was simply handed my key. My room was clearly 'made up' ready for me but I'm not sure how well... or whether with fresh items! Bed sheets were yellowing (clean?) and covered in long hairs. Bed had an uncomfortable dip in the mattress. I had a twin room and moved from one bed to the other in the night because my sheets felt so damp. The whole room felt damp and smelt like fungus. The windows were open on my arrival to try and air this but it only got worse once I closed them. Everything felt damp. Any clothes I left out were damp when I put them on. The smell and damp air kept me awake at night. You know when you can feel damp air hanging heavy on your chest? Mould even showed on the ceiling. The room is not made up for you if you stay more than one night - but my towels could not dry in the damp air. In fact, although my towels were rolled neatly on my bed on arrival, their discolouration made we wonder as to their cleanliness as well... great. Squashed mosquitos on walls, dust bunnies on the floor, sticky surfaces... it had been swept for sure but certainly not cleaned properly for a long time. There was barely a scrap of loo roll in the bathroom, just an almost finished roll hanging limply where it had been grabbed and torn off by the previous guest. I had to ask for more in the first hour. Staff looked perplexed about this. Finally... no staff explained how to heat my shower. So when I woke up to get ready for my tour, I only had cold water. I went to reception at 7:30am to ask for help but nobody was there. I tried calling the hotel phone numbers and all were closed. No one to help. Even after another hotel guest helped me by showing me the outside heater switch (which I left on after that!) I still had only luke warm water for the rest of my stay, both mornings. Two nights with of showers and a dirty, damp, smelly room... I was glad to leave a day early. Never again.

They are not clean room if you stay more than night. They're not change bed sheets , not change towel Should book others hotel nearby , it's cheaper than this hotel also. I was very disappoint with this hotel Moreover , you have to lift your luggages by yourself . No lifts. No staff when I arrived to check-in. When I met staff they always pester speak to sell ticket and tours.

I stayed in a family deluxe booked through an agency but later found out it is cheaper if you book directly from the hotel. It opened three months ago which explained why it is very clean and the rooms are readily available. The disadvantages to this hotel are; its lobby is located on the 1st floor, I have to climb three floors to my room, no bottled water despite it being stated on the flyer, no security access (though I think they have plans to) and no private parking. You can borrow a hairdryer from the reception. It is located in a shophouse with numerous other similar hotels and Indian restaurants. Other than that, it's all right to stay for a night.

This is a new or newly renovated hotel in Tanah Rata. It was very clean and neat as a pin, not large but bright comfy rooms with modern decor. The bathroom is large with modern fixtures. The shower is part of the room without a partition, so the whole room gets wet. There are English stations (BBC) on the TV. The rooms are cleaned promptly in the morning. There is no lounge/common area in the lobby, no breakfast and no elevator, so you must take the steps to the 2nd and 3rd floors. It is within a block of the bus station and lots of restaurants and shops up and down the street. There is a plaza across the street up a block with more restaurants at the back and a good laundry. We did a visit to the tea hills the Bharat Tea plantation, about 20 minutes by taxi, hiked down into the valley and enjoyed tea and scones at the tea house back at the top. You will have to arrange a taxi for the return as there are none waiting.

Zermatt Hotel, Tanah Rata. Close to bus station. New and clean. On a very noisy street but shopping and restaurants are nearby. Also several tour agencies close by. The reception is on the first floor with three rooms on that floor. No lift so it would be a long haul of baggage to upper floors. My room was on the first floor so no problem. Staff is not especially attentive, but rooms are cleaned early. OK size room. Noise from the street is a problem. Shower is not separate, so entire room gets wet. Give The Barracks a try for a change of pace restaurant. It's in the block behind the Maybank--not the same block but further on. Seating is in a WW 2 barracks or in a lovely garden. Try a passion fruit or mango lassi.
