Booked this as a surprise for my girlfriend's 30th and managed to keep the whole thing under wraps, right up until Florence walked us through the estate to the treehouse, and the penny dropped! What an amazing, relaxing, luxurious place to visit. We stayed in the smaller treehouse which is equipped with a Nespresso machine, kettle, mini bar (with room... More

Our 3 day stay at Chateau Gauthie was one of the highlights of our trip to Europe from Australia. The house was perfect and our room was large and airy. The hosts are extremely helpful and advised us on some great places to visit and we enjoyed a truly magnificent dinner at a nearby restaurant in the village. We cycled... More

This was honestly the most magical and enchanting long weekend I've ever had. The owners were charming, and the tree house was like something out of a Fair tale what with views out over the lake, fairy lights, and (a delicious) breakfast which you hoist up to your tree-top haven. We also loved the grounds- the pool and hot tub... More

Wow, all I can say. We have just returned from sensational week at Gauthie treehouse, near Issigeac, not far from Bergerac. Stunning grounds, gorgeous pool, spectacular treehouse and generous and welcoming hosts in Stefan and Florence. Our three children spent hours in the pool, piqueniquing around the lake, climbing trees and roaming about as explorers. The kind of holiday that... More

I stayed here with my wife for a couple of days of down-time after our wedding in the Dordogne. We chose Chateau Gauthie through the canopy and stars website as we had fallen in love with the idea of staying in the tree house there. Stephane was a lovely host, the smaller of the two treehouses that we stayed in... More

We had a terrific stay at the Chateau Gauthie treehouse. The hosts were very friendly and helpful - they made us feel like it was a home from home. Delightful place to stay - you feel like royalty. Beautiful environment, delightful rooms in the chateau, charming owners/hosts, delicious breakfast (Including properly made tea if you want it) and comfortable beds. Superb pool with loungers. All rooms have individual stylish decor with hand-made curtains/draperies. Will be back soon.

The most idyllic little place. Stayed in the bigger treehouse and spent a week relaxing by the pool, eating al fresco on the terrace and reading books and snoozing up in the canopy of the trees in the reading deck. We borrowed the bikes on site and cycled down to the village to get bread and coissants and a fabulous... More
