Lower side huts (B*) are bad, sub-standard if you get B7 (IIRC). I was uncomfortable because we were: - a few meters away from a bus station (noisy) - a few meters away from the sinkaway (sickergrube in german), stinks/smells heftily Other than that the family leading the resort is really nice!
This boutique hotel is really centrally located in the town, but quiet and set in beautiful gardens. A really lovely place. The hotel offers rooms grouped around the pool, or beautiful little individual bungalows. I would recommend this hotel for a true taste of Tropical Thailand
Omg don't read other reviews I'm staying here atm there is a band playing and this place is the bomb.... Pelle is so very nice speaks to you by your name ... Great memory.... The atmosphere is amazing drink prices really reasonable... I've booked into another resort across the road next weekend, and I wish I didn't... Will certainly come back here again.
We had a 6 nights stay, booked 2 bungalows and have to say that we had a just fantastic holiday in there, location is one of the best in Aonang area, easy to go everywhere, but the main thing was the Resort itself, it was to be at home, it was so cozy and owners Pelle and his wife Mint were more than helpful for everything. This is not a 5* hotel so if you need all the toys around you, then please go to Holiday Inn, but if you want to relax without TV but with pool and excellent service, then choose Tropical Resort.
We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. The bungalows are very quiet and the AC works well. Mint and Pelle are very sweet and we enjoyed talking to them when we would take a night swim. The location is right in town and close to the beach so you can walk everywhere. Thanks for a great stay!
I have stayed in Thailand many times and I am very used to staying at different levels of accommodation and so when I write this review I am not writing this as someone who is a 5 star luxury traveller but just an ordinary person who like to back pack and stay in all sorts of accommodations from home stays, right up to luxury hotels. I really do not understand the reviews on here saying it's the best hotel in Thailand ever etc etc. it really is not .... And the whole point of trip advisor is to help other people choose and book hotel stays and I'm someone who really books somewhere based on other peoples reviews , unfortunately the reviews for tropical resort do not reflect the place I expected from reviews on this site. This hotel we booked on agoda for 3 nights for just under £50 British pounds per night for their garden corner bungalow .... This was described as a bungalow set in a garden. When we arrived our room was set at a bottom corner past what looked to be staff quarters , down a really poor path (which if you had children or walking problems it would have been a nightmare) to our bungalow set next to sewers, no lush gardens... Our room had thin nets on with no curtains and this looked on to the staff area hut. We asked to be swapped rooms but were told they were over booked. The room itself was very basic but i did not mind this part so much apart from fact the floor boards were loose and gappy in places and the bed was very hard. I have stayed places like this before but not had to pay almost £50 a night. The pool area was terrible , very tired , loose decking wood panels in a lot of places and lots of flys in the pool. The Sunbed mattresses I would say at least 60% of them were ripped and very tired / dirty. Again if I came here with elderly or children this place would not be safe. We decided as aonang was very busy we had no choice but stay here 1 night and we checked out the next morning. We gave our room key back about 1030am and the owners were not around and also I'm on holiday so did not feel like I should have to feed back to them what they probably already know. Positives - The owners did seem nice and friendly but we didn't stay so can't comment further. This place has such potential to be a very nice place to stay but in my opinion they need to tell people when booking exactly what room is like and not charge the above money for a room which is not worth it at all. My honest opinion is there is a lot of other nicer places to stay in aonang than the room and pool on the day we were there. …
My stay was fantastic. With only 10 bungalows, the hotel is small, with a lush garden and nice pool and outdoor area. It's friendly and charismatic owners Pelle and Mint were great hosts. I decided to arrive a day early and called at the last minute to arrange a room and airport taxi pick up and they were very helpful. Bungalow was clean and homely with some nice touches like insect repellent available from the mini bar selection, beach towel and mat. Wifi was not available in the room, but ok in the area around reception/pool. Poolside bar area is nice and social which suited me as a solo traveler. The hotel is only 5 minutes from the beach and there are many good restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Thanks for a great stay!
Great location 5 mins from the beach and just off the main street in Ao Nang. We didnt have a reservation and tried the hotel next door which was cheaper. We thought we would try this place and are glad we did. We managed to haggle to 1500 baht for a pool view. The room was an ok size, with aircon. The main reason we paid more was for the pool which is small but really nice. The water was fairly cool as its in the shade. It was nice to sit outside the room in deck chairs or on the sun loungers. The resort it really quiet and they have a pool bar which plays music but not loud. It was a bit buggy usual mosquitoes and there were some gaps in the mosquito screens on the windows so we woke up with some bites. The wardrobe was a bit musty smelling so we didnt use it. It was handy to have pool towels and a beach mat, also it was the first place in Thailand that provided hand towels and face cloths. The wifi was a bit on and off but this has happened to us all over Thailand but still frustrating! …
This place was great. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and cozy. We felt very welcome at Aonang Tropical Resort. I definitely will go back when I visit Thailand again. Thank you very much for the lovely stay Pelle and Mint!
Having read some of the views I was expecting more from this place and was disappointed. I tried to remember I had arrived from a Bangkok 5*hotel but still, didn't feel the hotel was as "boutique" as I expected. I had a bungalow so can't comment on the rooms in the accom block. The aircon was good but I felt the room neededsome attention in terms of decoration. The furniture looks old and the mattress and pillows were hard. However it was clean and the bedding and towels were clean and fresh. The pool looked ok but the grounds are in need of a good tidy up. I get the impression the place operates on a low budget but it feels like it needs some investment. The owner seems like a great guy which maybe ups guests reviews of the place. Have to agree with the comments on the wifi. The booster was right outside my bungalow but was very hit and miss which is very frustrating when I was trying to book a flight out of Krabi. I can recommend the restaurant straight out the front for good food and the bar on the left as you reach the main road is an excellent place to people watch and enjoy a beer and a pizza. We booked a private boat trip from the place at the right hand end of the beach front for only 3000 baht for the whole day. Hong Island is well worth a visit. An airport taxi is 600 baht. Overall I wasn't too enamoured with Ao Nang. I admire what the owner is trying to do but he's not quite there yet. …
