Beautiful resort and very large and spread out and using a walker to get around with was a little daunting at first. The resort is built into the side of a hill with lots of stairs and ramps. The grounds were well kept and lots of flowering bushes and plants, very pretty. There were three pools and they were warm...

We did the Air Transat duo package with 3 days in Cartagena and 4 in Baru. The check out from Decameron Cartagena was at 1200 noon and the transfer was not until 145. By the time we arrived at Baru it was almost 5 pm. The entire day was wasted. The check in was almost as painful as Cartagena. The...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn...

I recently visited this property and it was without a doubt the worst vacation I've ever taken! The list of disappointments is too long to write, but the overwhelming factor that tainted me was the total lack of service! The snack bar that they advertise as being available 24/7 does not exist! The food I had there was marginal at...

Great location, remote, beautiful beach... Horriably dirty rooms, not acceptable for 400 $ dollars a night, food is just bad, all of it, poor selection of alcohol at bars, main bar states it stays open until 2 am, yet my husband tried to get a drink at 1:15 and was refused, said they were closed, property run down. Beach is...

Affordable all inclusive resort, away from typical tourist crowds of the Caribbeans resorts. Majority of guest are from South America and by extension everyone speaks Spanish. The staff has very minimal English language skills but you only need few Spanish phrases to be understood. (My expectation was that at least the nurse station will be staffed by English speaking nurse,...

Well - this is perhaps the most "looked after" I have ever been. Rooms are great - I could not stop the maid from freezing me out every day though short of hiding the AC remote. I even tried to leave a note. Nice flat screen - I hooked up the laptop and watched a couple of movies since there...

I had to laugh at the negative reviews! Most are expecting a $2000/night experience for $400 per night. Regarding the "cafeteria" complaints--the buffet was extensive, with lots to choose from. There were a number of dishes that didn't appeal to me, but there were always selections of high quality salad fixings, wonderful fruit and basic meat and fish dishes. At...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located at the paradisiac Baru peninsula, 75 minutes from Cartagena and member of the TripAdvisor ‘Hall of Fame’ for its certified excellence during 5 consecutive years, the Decameron Baru allows guests to enter a magical experience that will disconnect them from the outside world. The resort is located amidst a tropical forest and its architectural design intermingles with an ecological environment surrounded by many beaches, among which is the popular ‘Playa Blanca’, considered one of the best beaches of the Colombian Caribbean, and the luxurious ‘Playa Puntilla’ beach, where our travellers may enjoy a private club and several sports such as kayaking, rowing, scuba and snorkeling. Partying and enjoyment are guaranteed, enlivened with the rhythms from the countries of the great Caribbean basin such as ‘champeta’, a genre that mixes African and Colombian Indigenous sounds and that introduces travellers to the local culture. As a complement to pleasure, you may sharpen your senses with the delicacies of typical and renowned Colombian Caribbean cuisine. From this destination you may explore Cartagena’s colonial history and visit other important cities from Colombia’s northern territory such as Barranquilla, a commercial, river and sea port and seat of the multitudinous Carnival, as well as historic Santa Marta, considered the most beautiful bay in America. ... more   less
