Located off the beaten track about 45 mins by car from Cartagena, Playa Manglares is a nice spot for a few days rest and relaxation. We stayed for three nights in May, in the middle-floor room with the terrace. The room was large, with a comfortable queen-size bed and mosquito net, 3 fans (no aircon), 2 large hammocks and a...

I must be honest, my trip here started rather shaky. I was traveling from Islas del Rosiario by boat to Playa Blanca. It took me an hour to find transport to the hotel and this created a rocky start to this leg of the trip. I believe Playa Manglares is better reached from Cartagena and not from other islands. Transport...

Playa Manglares is transformative. We ended our trip here after just under a week in Cartagena and I can't imagine our trip without this experience. We were greeted with a hug and a kiss from the proprietor Olga and her friend Marcela, who are both amazing humans. This place is a slice of heaven and the perfect place to relax,...

If you are in Cartagena for 3 days or more, this is a must do! About an hour away from the walled city, you find yourself on this peaceful and ultra-relaxing spot with a private beach. We stayed there for a night and immersed in total relaxation. The rooms are beautiful, rustic and so chic. The water is super calm...

Playa Manglares was the last stop to end our vacation in Colombia. There is something about this place that forces you to let go and embrace pure relaxation. You don't have to worry about anything except which hammock you want to lounge in for the day. We stayed 3 nights. The first two days we relaxed on the beach enjoyed...

A great place to get away from it all and just relax. Nice bayside private beach. Olga is a friendly and welcoming host. We miss her dogs that hang around the house. We swung in the hammocks and drank club colombias. It was a nice get away after the high energy of the city. I would not bother with playa...

Olga Lucia, the host, is a warm and attentive person without being overwhelming, making your stay enjoyable and restful. The food is good including great fresh fish and ceviche. We...

My wife and I spent 3 days at Playa Manglares. Olga was a great host - you feel like she is your 'abuela' (or you want her to be) by the end of your stay. If you're expecting an all-inclusive, fancy, resort-type feel, this is not your place. Rather, the very appeal of Manglares is its raw, authentic, off-the-beaten path...
