View is great and the sound of the waves..Wonderful. Good food, friendly staff, clean rooms, but building is old and needs a total revamp. Overpriced for what you get. Salt pool is big and well situated but needs a good clean. Location is perfect good for walking and enjoying the sea, but remember it is a volcanic island so the... More

Nice breakfast, clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff. However, its an old building, a lot of work needs to be done on the building and the rooms. The pool was very dirty, I would not swim in it.

The hotel and rooms are very dated. The swimming pool is really filthy, but the rooms are clean. Airco is working fine. The sounds of the waves unfortunately did not drown out the noise from the adjacent rooms. Breakfast however was up to par for what you would expect after a night in this hotel. Fresh coffee and scrambled eggs,... More

Spent all of 10 hours at the hotel, but it was easy to see that the hotel needs a little attention. The rooms were nice, with a good size bathroom. Water pressure was good, bed was comfortable. The best part about this hotel was sleeping hearing the sounds of the waves crashing outside. There was a lot of rust in the... More

I stay on Statia 4 times per year and have visited every hotel o. The island over the years. The Golden Era is one of the top two hotels. The price is average for the island for the service you receive. The hotel is under new management recently and this has definitely improved service. The rooms are cleaned daily and... More

My husband and I were very happy when we left this hotel. It is a good place to enjoy the breakfast in the morning with the nice sea view and eventhough I read negative refference about this hotel but we did not have such bad experiences. Our check in were simple and expected, I said that because when we were... More

I'm pretty sure this hotel isn't nicer because they really don't need to bother much. St. Eustatius is a small area with a few sleeping options so if you don't want to spend too much money and have a good night's sleep then this is your thing. It is not pretty but it has free wifi, a small swimming pool,... More

After reading a couple of recent negative reviews for Golden Era, I almost changed my reservation for my week in Statia. I am very glad I didn't. Golden Era certainly isn't a Renaissance or Marriot, nor is it as nice as the lovely, higher priced hotel next to it, but it is clean, has a great location and views, and... More

This is our 5th year cruising the Caribbean and have to say we have never come across such rude, lousy service, as a matter of fact we actully cancelled our drink and dinner order to go elsewhere because if the attitude of the waitress. It's a shame because it's a great location and a decent menu

Our Group had four rooms here for one night in early December 2014. So I was able to check out two rooms plus the one in which I stayed. Mine was the worst of the lot. Stayed on the second floor. There was no room number on the door of our room which was the first sign that things were... More
