We stayed in a room with ocean view which was amazing. The room was really comfortable and cozy. The restaurant is right on the beach with with a great view and the food is pretty good. If I have to say one bad thing, it would be about the staff that is not nice. Either at the restaurant, reception or...

The Old Gin House is now under newer, younger management. The rooms are "neater" and have fresh everything. The grounds are cleaner than in the past with better lighting at night - we never were concerned but it just looks nicer. You can tell there is some youth in the new more up-to-date menus in the restaurant, more couches around...

The Old Gin House hotel is located in Lower Town Oranjestad just below the Fort Oranje. It is at a beautiful location with nice views of the Bay and the Island of Saba. There is good and safe snorkeling in the bay in front of the hotel along the submerged city wall with lots of a colorful fish and many...

Can't believe this is a 4 star hotel. The swimming pool is really dirty, airconditioning doesn't work well at alll, the fridge is empty with a luke warm bottle of water on top, there's an outdated coffee machine but no coffee or tea bags to be found, the bathroom is very outdated, there's an old dusty tv screen on the...

We stayed at this hotel for one night in March, in the midst of a two week sail around the Caribbean with our friends on their 43 ft. sailboat. We had not planned to stay on Statia originally, but had pulled into anchor in the harbour overnight and tour the island during the day. After we took a taxi tour...

I appreciate that one cannot expect all to work well on remote islands. I understand that it's unrealistic to expect the amenities of large cities to exist elsewhere. If you want it to be just like home, then stay home. The test in these circumstances isn't whether everything is working perfectly, it's the speed and the effectiveness of the response...

We spent a week at The Old Gin House as part of a dive trip in early February. Very relaxing, comfortable and pleasant - from arrival to departure! Located in the lower city, you can walk to the public doc, or hike uphill to the upper city. The property is built into a hillside, so if you have mobility issues,...

Husband and I spent a week on Statia for a dive trip and stayed at the Old Gin House Hotel. We are told that the Hotel is the nicest on the island and the location is beautiful. However, the hotel rooms are run down. The room we stayed in was filthy when we arrived. The floors were dirty, mold in...
