All I will say is please stop letting out the mobile home. There's clearly a reason it was the only place I could book. And it shouldn't be let out again. Left after 1/3 nights and they did provide a refund for the two nights. Simply awful. I don't want to say too much more.
We needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights whilst visiting family nearby but unfortunately The California could only offer us one night. Nevertheless, it was very comfortable, very clean and served an excellent pint of beer! We will use this hotel again, but will book earlier next time. By the way, we had a long drive home for our second night 😣 C’est la vie !
The breakfast was good, but was extra. The beds are extra soft; I found them very uncomfortable, it gives me back ache. My two companions loved them and slept very well. I also with agree with other reviews regarding noise.
This was a welcome surprise whilst out for a walk. Doesn’t look much from the outside, but inside was a very warm & friendly bar. Dog friendly & lots of friendly locals. Menu is limited but food was excellent & great value. Good choice of beers & what we drank was great. We’ll be back!
Small hotel Friendly staff Very good Breakfast Very small bed room Comfy beds Décor needs refreshing Reasonably priced But the bedroom was directly above the bar (that started to quieten down at 1.00am in the morning). To put this into perspective, we have stayed in rooms before where there was some noise, but this was at a different level. You could hear the actual conversations that were going on in the bar below through the floor. The TV would have needed to be turned up to near full volume to drown out the sounds in the bedroom. With a young child in our room it was impossible to get to sleep until circa 1.30am .... not great. I spoke to the bar staff about the noise on the evening who were polite and said the noise would eventually quieten down after about 10.30pm - it didn't. I also mentioned it to staff in the morning and have left feedback on the hotels own website. They would be better off not letting people stop in the room above the bar - think it was room 5? Until they soundproof it - it cannot be worth the negative reviews for what could be a nice little hotel. …
