The Nelson is a blast from the past, so it's only fair to not expect too much from it. The staff are very friendly and helpful & they speak English. The room I had on the 4th floor was an experience in itself. Facing the side street where a cacophony of Mariachi bands going 24/7 - literally - could either...

I haven't stayed in hotel but visited a restaurant. It's nice place, clean, prices are not expensive and food is very good. Mexican food and sea food, service is good. Stuff is very welcoming and friendly, easy to talk and make friends with :)

I like to stay at the Hotel Nelson. It has a "at home" feeling. The staff is great. One thing I love is hearing the Mariachis outside of my window at night. Don't care what time of night they play.....it's a great felling =) Julie Orozco

Real old-school hotel and basic, perhaps reminding you of that first trip to TJ at 18. Reasonably clean and cheap. Helpful at the front desk. Get a room overlooking the plaza and you get live mariachis playing right outside your window until the last partier has spent his last peso, often around 6:00 AM. Located right at the junction of...

Stayed here and loved it for what it is. It is a cheap hotel in the heart of Revolucion Ave. I crashed here one night after a few too many tequilas. Was happy I still had my kidney's in the morning (kidding). This is not a place for the wife and kiddies. The room had paper thin walls so that...

I've stayed here several times starting in the mid 80's. It's clean and safe but it's no 'resort' the rooms are clean and comfortable but offer little more than that. I have always liked the bar it's a dimly lit laid back local place with cheap drinks and friendly staff it's a perfect place to start your night. The North...

Had lunch here on our day trip to Tijuana, Mexico & it was really good. Service is fast & the waiters & waitress try real hard to bridge the communication gap. Beers are cheap & all good fun.

This is a cheap hotel. you can't expect what offers a resort. about $38 dlls per night, the room & bath are clean, TV has only a few channels with good reception, there's a $10 dlls fee for extra guest, wich is weird. but here comes the nightmare, sundays in the backyard, there are bands and singers that will easily...

When I travel, I talk to locals and usually hire someone or tip someone to give me the rundown on the best value for my money; this is how I found the Nelson. The hotel is very old and slightly run down. However, it is clean, safe, and the staff is very helpful. I have read the bad reviews and...

“Ask for the quietest area of the hotel if noise is an issue. Noise of the outside (not inside) could be bothersome to you. I stay on the 3rd floor and it doesnt bother me. However, on the weekends bands play the courtyard starting in the morning and you will hear that.”
