Encanto is a shambolic masterpiece. Laura is a treasure. Breakfast kills, especially if you like fresh eggs. Lots of books! Two blocks to the beach. The best taqueria in town; directly across the street. No windows, no doors, no problem.

My wife and I had a wonderful week-long stay at Casa del Encanto. We woke every morning to a delicious breakfast served in the courtyard, and Laura, the owner, was always there, providing both wonderful conversation and advice about the town. The town itself is tiny--not even an ATM--but the beach and the enramadas are great. The hotel maintains a... More

Laura has a charming garden oriented B and B. The design flows from outdoor garden to indoor living space. The relaxing ponds with flowing water, and evening candles make for a relaxing experience. There are fans and mosquito nets which keep the no-see-ums from biting at night (there are no bed bugs as some posts alluded to). The location is... More

What a lovely, peaceful, comfortable, tasteful, funky and magical little place Laura has created. This lovely innkeeper keeps us coming back year after year to enjoy the charm of village life, the relaxing beauty of the 8 mile beach just blocks away, the delicious breakfast with local coffee and traditional Mexican food, and the convivial exchange among guests and with... Thank you so much for these very positive words about your stay with us at Casa del Encanto. Reading this, it seems that you had a favorable experience. i wonder if there is some mistake in the numerical rating of 2 that you gave which corresponds to a poor rating. If it was in error, i´m hoping that you might... More

I have been staying at Casa del Encanto since 2008 and always go back. This time, I spent only a weekend and to my happy surprise Laura, the owner, has upgraded and renovated the place, everything is clean and tidy. As usual the atmosphere is always cozy and warm. This is a place for people that love Nature and want... More

Casa del Encanto is a cool green oasis in a bustling little village of Barra de potosi. Donia Laura is a warm and wonderful host. She is an american expat of 25 years with intimate local knowlege and connections. The rooms are amazing. Check google images for Casa Del Encanto. For me a 10.

Our stay in Casa del Encanto was the highlight of our trip to Mexico mainly thanks to Laura. First her place is absolutely charming, then the rooms are huge, peacefull, comfortable and affordable. Besides, Laura helped us to organise a kayak trip to the Lagoon at dawn with a local guide and that was a fantastic experience. Laura is an... More

What a wonderful discovery. Casa del Encanto is enchanting, relaxing and lovingly decorated. The owner/operator Dona Laura is very accommodating, fun to talk to, helpful in many ways, and a great source of knowledge about the area, including politics, tourism, and local history. My friends and I stayed at two hotels in Zihuatenajo before visiting Barra de Potosi and Casa... More

A nice quiet place well away from the buzz of Zihuatanejo, but Zihua is a short trip away if you want to go for a cruise. If you looking for laid-back, quiet, and friendly, this is it. English is not widely spoken in Barra, but somehow it all seems to work out. Laura is a relaxed and accommodating hostess who... More
