We stayed here for one night. Carmen was very welcoming and gave us a lot of tips of what to do and see. She made a huge breakfast and despite our bad Spanish we had a really nice chat with her (mix of English & Spanish). If you like it a little bit more personal and don't expect a modern,...

We absolutely LOVED this place! Carmelita is just the sweetest lady, and so, so funny. Staying with her truly felt like staying with a family member, she was that welcoming and warm. We spent a great deal of time talking to her about her life and family, and we came away with a real glimpse into the life of an...

We absolutely loved this place! From the minute we arrived owner Carmen was so friendly and charming we wanted to stay longer, and get to know her better. The rooms are quirky and very Mexican in style, but comfortable. Its located a bit out of town but is an easy and interesting walk into Guanajuato. Carmen prepares breakfasts every morning...

I absolutely LOVE Guanajuato. It would take a lot for me to have a bad experience anywhere in this amazing city. However, there is no way I could have NOT enjoyed El Hogar de Carmelita. It really IS the home of Carmen, a wonderful, sweet lady who cooks for you & will even sit with you and talk (if you...

My wife and I spent three nights at this hostel earlier this month. Carmen is a charming hostess who will do almost anything to ensure you have a great stay. The room was spacious with a great bathroom and plenty of hot water. They provide a full breakfast and plenty of advice on what to do and see. The only...

This is an amazing hostel. Carmen, the owner, is so nice. It's her house. She gave us a welcome breakfast and the best mango/orange juice ever. We booked two connecting rooms with an ensuite bathroom. It also had a little balcony. There's cable. The rooms are impeccably clean, as is the bathroom. We didn't eat outside of the house even...

“We had an upper-floor room with a balcony which was wonderful! If you don't mind sharing a bathroom with the room across the hall, I'd highly recommend it. If you have problems with stairs, ask for a lower floor room.”

“Beware of the stairs. Those stairs are pretty steep. There are stairs to the establishment as well as to all of the rooms, so try to get a room on the second floor if stairs are taxing for you! Other than that, ENJOY your stay!”
